That's not the case.

The mind works in a way you determine your own reality. The people that died saw the accident as it was happening and believed by common sense that they would die, so when the cars collided their mind/ heart/soul/ consciousness, whatever you'll like to call it escaped from the body. The baby had no idea what was happening and wasn't afraid of death, and therefore didn't die. If the baby was an adult knowing all these he/she would've also been dead.

In effect, the baby simply placed mind over matter.

To the church goers, this's what Jesus was explaining to Peter in the bible. Peter was confident enough to place mind over matter and was able to walk upon the water, but the moment he placed matter (body) over mind he became afraid and started sinking.

If I was in that bus, I would not die but I may sustain injuries as a matter of physics.
