Let the garri processing begin

Day 9

We hit a numba of snags dat cumulated to this day.
From logistics, to nt harvesting enough tubers for the start off ,to workers, to wages, to oro festival, to even a defective grinding machine.

Na wa ooo! It wasnt funny but sha we got the cassava grinded and bagged and to be fried on monday

I wud like to advertise someone here on nairaland dat i ave bin kinly following even though he doesnt knw me and i him.

he posted a range of garri frying pans and their prices,something i ave bin lookin for, for quite awhile. God bless u sir, and for those wanting to ventur into garri processing those are the type of pans u nid for frying to b effective and efficent in ur biz

not yet, since its a co.operative dat owns the project it became a case of beauricracy at its highest hence for now we make do with local pots

I understand. But I expected a cooperative to make it more standard.

You cld av spent as low as 650k or even 500k to acquire standard machineries with a very decent output.
A grater, a presser and two small manual fryers.

But all the same... Una well done

sorry dat i ve bin unable post any new pics about d factory but so far we ve bin pushin tru.
Now,For a recap -
We met a lot of obstacles leading to the processing, from we not getting enough tubers(appr. 1 basket), improper drying of the cassava(we had to redry again yesterday for 2hrs b4 frying) to the oro festival in which women are nt allowed to come out(frying suspended till tomorrow), to even the rains delaying work on harvesting today. Though so far so good we got a full bag and quater of garri for the first harvest, we are hoping dat the next harvest which comes in to will give us more

if u own a land and a truck to convey ur goods then the cost of set up is 3.5m which includes 1 month wages if not, with the current state of things burget 7 to 7.5mil

Especially in the rural areas, women work more than men.

Dat is not a cabstar, dat is a volkswagen pickup. Its twin back tyres means it can carry 12tons. So dat load is probaly 8 to 10 tons. As at monday, a ton is 25k, so u are looking at btw 200k-250k
