Police Wahala : Is It A Crime To Pull Over On The Shoulder Of The Road??? by kYjelly2: 11:08am On Oct 14, 2016
My dear friends, I'm here to recant what happened to me a few nights ago along lekki highway.

Went out clubbing with this girl in VI, got tired and decided to leave at around 12:30a.m.

She was going to Ajah and I told her that I can't go that far, but I can make it to chevron or VGC so we can find her a cab that won't charge that much to take her the rest of the way.

So we just pulled over ooo, on the side of the road and she stepped down. Please note that when I say the side of the road, I don't mean like how danfos stop on the road itself (the third lane on the right), no! I mean on the bushy part, the shoulder, that doesn't obstruct traffic at all. Sort of how you are supposed to pull over, when you have car troubles.

That's how ooooo, not up to 1 minute, one rickety car just stormed into my front. I panicked a bit, like, "am I about to get robbed ", only for me to see that out of the 4 guys that stepped out, two had on police uniforms, but all were kitted with AK47s.

At that very moment, she stepped back in the car and shut the door asking "men!! what do these guys want".

Honestly, at this point, my panic meter had hit 100% and before you could say Jack Robins... I had hit the gas pedal all the way, like, alllll the way down. At this point, one of them hit the glass on my car with the top of his gun as i was scurrying through the gravel and all the while i was just praying "don't shoot", "don't shoot".

They attempted to give chase, but... V6 baby cool

I floored that car like my life depended on it men. Must have hit 200km at some point. The girl kept shouting, "they're coming, they're coming!", but they weren't coming for long angry

I'm just happy that, 1 - I was driving a v6, 2 - the road was free and 3 - they didn't shoot embarassed

Please someone tell me, when has it become a crime to pull over on the side of the road

Or is it cause a girl stepped out of my vehicle cause the way they all just jumped out wielding their big guns, sent panic signals right down my spine.

what is wrong with these useless police

I wasn't parked with a lady, i parked and she stepped out immediately.

Sooo, the possibility of any "f-ondling" goes out the window.

besides, why would they all just jump out like some Rambo movie

Despite the fact that I don't think you broke any law, I also think it was wise that you ran away

Times are actually dangerous
Its possible they may not be policemen.

If it was those new "112" cars, honestly, i think i would just have spoken to them. Let them search or whatever they wanted to do or even tip them.

...but these guys showed up in some strange car, no siren installed, no lights, nothing, bodywork damaged... Guess that's their version of undercover, but at that point, the panic had already set in men!! 4 guys with guns jumping out of some unmarked vehicle, mba undecided

If I were in your shoes, I would have taken this action part

Stay in the car and observe if they don't seem like real policemen, I would paint the road redblood with any slowpoke dumb enough to stand in my way gun or bazooka it won't hit me.

But You flied kite with your life and wasn't observant.

You should have noticed a car coming from behind even if it doesn't have headlamp, it would make certain noise as it approached

You saw it was a police car and still risked your life and in the process committed a crime or attempted murder of an officer, resisting arrest, unlawful parking at wrong Lane and not using right distress signal when parked.

You were running above the law at 200km/h when the speed limit was pegged at 80/100km/h thereby endangering your life and the occupant.

This incident was reported to me the night it happened and it was dismissed since no suspect was found. But you have deem it fit to report yourself online and it would be followed up because the gun used that night on was damaged which is government property.

He knew the men are police officers but chose to run, if he wasn't doing something illegal, he should wait and explained himself, police men aren't mortals, they feel and understand just like you and me.

The spot he parked has been known to Harbor goons and men of the under world and I gave strict instructions to my men to always stop and see situation of things happening when cars are parked by the road side. Their job is as at 12:01am

1.render assistance to car/owners in distress only leave when there is an emergency or the owner doesn't need help anymore

2. Make sure hooligans aren't taking advantage of people with mechanical car fault to fleece them all in the name of helping them.

3. Make sure the car isn't a hide out / get away car/sleeping house of hooligans.

4. Search and question young guys numbering 3 upwards in a Car.

5. Any suspicious car that you can't stop so the occupants don't feel harassed note the plate number and last known area seen.

According to the op, he knew the men were police officers but still chose to do James Bond, even after the incident, he didn't report to the nearest police station or a police station at his vicinity.

Its my duty to follow-up the case and the identity of the op would soon be revealed

They said he who has no sin, should be the first to cast the stone. I am not a police man, neither am I a man at arms or whatever the term is.

The op decided to pull our legs, so me too decided to pull his legs.

He must have hit 200km/h in a murano. To only the Lord is your witness.

My people, things are happening in Abuja, one need to be extra careful. Just this morning, someone I know went to bank and picked some money and as came out from the bank, some men approached him and showed him Nigerian Army I.D. card that they work with NIA (Nigerian Intelligence Agency) and he need to follow them to their office for further investigation. They showed him gun and handcuffs. He was forced to follow them into their Toyota muzzle. They actually took him all the way to NIA and dropped him outside, collected the money he withdrew and his phone and told him to go and bring his oga. The money belongs to his boss. On bringing his boss to NIA, behold, those guys don't work for NIA, they are armed robbers. When they reported case to SARS, they actually testify that such things happens, some times, they show you I.D. card that they are from SARS.
Pls share. People need to be aware of this robbery technique

Op more horsepower to your engine.

I have been faced with this kind of situation or something similar. A girl came to check on me in sango where I lived in 2013. It was around 9:30m she was about leaving so I decided to drop her at ijokodo to make it easy for her to get a cab to apete. Just after the tafo arena we decide to wait there for a cab we both came down from the car and I was standing in front of her facing my car when all of a sudden just like the Nollywood movies I watched while growing up when police men jump down from their hilux to arrest a criminal came to play in real life. I was shocked and surprised and confused.if i remember vividly It all happened within seconds no interrogation no nothing they just cuffed my arm to hers and threw us at the back of their vehicle.

Still confused what the Bleep was going on I tried to pull out my ID thinking it could be a case of wrong target, the girl tried asking what we have done and even pleading with them that she has two kids at home waiting for her she got a big slap for speaking.

When they spoke, they said 'Na una be the robbers wey we get info say wan come rob for this area abi'
Like really?!? What the Bleep is wrong with these morons how can you say that? No weapons no nothing on us yet you call us robbers. Please bear in mind that was my first police brutality I did not know it was pretty Normal for them to call people robbers.

So fast forward we driving to the station the girl was weeping it all fell on blind eyes. Now we got to Iyaganku they did not not take us to the front desk but took us round the corner into one of the offices only then I realized these people were SARS and I started my own Lord's Prayer.

They ask us to write statement, ABOUT WHAT? From 'robbers' to now 'yahoo' one of them collected my phone and said 'all these small small boys wey de do yahoo' I'm actually only 5'7 with a slender body. Searched every nook and cranny on my phone, he went on for like 30 mins only then he realized he had just wasted his precious time.
It's around 11 pm now and we are still in 'detention' no evidence, no nothing against us then they said we should call someone to bail us ... like seriously? Lol

After so much effort to get someone bail us at that time of the day, we couldn't get anyone show up most phones were switched off. At last they left us when it was almost 12 in the midnight to the hands of hooligans in the streets.

In 2016, I recently outsmarted a whole full hilux of police it made me feel like a don grin

guy u are quite funny.

it all happened so quickly dude, no lie!

my guess is that, as she was out trying to hail a cab, she must have spotted the guys pulling over and quickly came back into my car.

Truth be told, i would have left with or without her, lol grin

and the 200km/hr, i said "i must have", meaning, i wasn't sure. What i was sure off though, is that i was going ridiculously fast and I'm a speedster, so that should tell you something.

I site you. So na you we nearly shoot ko? God save you. Headline on front page could have read RRS shoots thief along lekki ajah road

On a more serious note. Dont do that next time. Your life is worth more than the car, police wahala or whatever. If you cant take her all the way home, get a cab from the clun for her. Some times its better to avoid stories that touch. Imagine they where determined and had enough fuelto give you a chase. You wouldn't be here shouting v6
