This place is like this because the company developed it by them selfs and not through the people's representatives
we are saying the same thing, shey na the same bonny people say ghetto dey so?,it shows that since oil was discovered if the interest of the oil producing communities were put first instead of the greed of our politicians doing collabo with oil companies to exploit the region, the communities will be like this by now, as we have been made to know that this is the nlng part and that every other part of the island looks getto

It’s hard to believe that exotic places such as Bonny Island exist in Nigeria.

Bonny Island is a little paradise located in Rivers state. The island boasts of things that you will not imagine possible in Nigeria. Uninterrupted power supply and a highly organised and wealthy community. Bonny Island can compete with any exotic location in the world, and here are some reasons why you should make it your next vacation spot.

I once went to bonny once. I will never go there again. The risk taken to get to Bonny is heart wrenching! One hour boat drive in an unsafe sea. The boat engine may not be properly serviced. Pirate may attack and shoot at sight. I was sick in my stomach! I got the job I went for but never replied back but surviving it was such a miracle for me.

Why won't govt make a bridge through considering the money that is in Bonny. I was told the indigene are against it and want the island sea-locked.

cheesy The poverty in that island is just shameful. People living in zinc/wooden houses. Despite all the wealth surrounding them.

That's why I dont really blame all those Niger Delta Avengers/activists.

milliatancy was birthed long after the discovery of oil, it started after the patience of these communities wore out, don't talk like oil exploration started today ,even in that same community, from comments you can see that just on the other side of the wall of the nnlg is the complete opposite

I know the OP wants to be courteous but courteously unconscious in overhyping Bonny Island. The exaggeration or lies are too expensive. You are right that there is security, constant power supply etc but to say it's the most beautiful place is a serious lie that even Bonny people will be angry with you. You only described LNG R.A for NLNG Staff only which is less than 15% of the total Bonny Island. Of course, the company tries her best for the town. But when you come to Bonny town, it is not as beautiful as you claimed. There are batchers everywhere similar to Ajegunle slums you can mistaken for animal pen. When people describe Bonny Island, they only show LNG I.A and LNG R.A. The roads are very tiny without drainage. When it rains, you wish you were not there.Dont let me talk about other things that will scare you away.I dont have time to send you other pictures. People are suffering a lot here.So LNG Residential Area is not a complete picture of the land. No road from P.H except through Bonny water which is two hours LNG boat or 1 hr local speed boat. There is nothing like visa.If you go to visit an LNG staff member in R.A, the person will come to register you and a card for pass with you picture will be given to you bearing your name, your host, date in and date out, address of host etc. This is just for security purpose into staff quarters only which is also obtainable anywhere else.

You've just typed the gospel truth. Very bad roads with no drainage. When it rains, just don't go out.

The only truly positive thing Bonny has to offer is the power supply. In the 5months I spent over there, they took the light just twice. Electric cooker/stove is very very common. It was fun though.

Ive been living there for years and Im still there as Im typing this now.The image outside is not the true picture. Dont let us go to the life, lifestyle, morality, spiritual aspect, you would wish to run away within a month even if you are eating turkey except God helps you.Not all things that glitters is gold.
