Highlights Of 2016 by Sanchez01: 11:54am On Dec 30, 2016
Nigerians are a highly forgetful people. This is obviously not a secret or something a few know. With over 160 million people whose main aim is survival, piling certain things is a huge no for us as a people. Most of our actions are solely based on emotions; one which fades away after some time, particularly when the said issue is eventually cleared.

This perhaps explains why it is difficult for us as a people to hold memorials for the bomb blast victims of Lagos, the victims of Belview, Sosoliso, and even those who lost their lives in the SCOAN, in Lagos and a host of many other ill-fated events.

The Highlights on this thread started for me on December 31st, 2015 (at night) and would only feature topical issues with generated sparks on social media and off of social media.

PS: For some reasons, I’d be leaving two months empty, just so people could try to recall what went down and then list the happenings therein. For me, I’d be making light so scenarios for the fun of it. So, here goes.

January

Davido vs Baby mama: Well this happened at the dying minute of 2015 and is considered to be the controversy that wrapped year. The Momodus and the Adelekes turned Madrid and Barcelona as they went head-to-head over Davido and Sophia’s daughter. And with Dele of Ovation playing the resilient groom who made the airport his temporary abode, the Adelekes could not take little Imade to Dubai for the holidays. Well, the issues didn’t die a natural death, however. Davido went on to taunt Mr Ovation in 2016 which didn’t sit well with the publisher. Davido, through the clash, made Nigerians realize that the Baby mama business is highly lucrative with Sophia bagging 350k monthly.

Olamide vs Don Jazzy: Choi! With this controversy, Nigerians didn’t need a prophet to tell them that 2016 would be riddled with so many dramas. The YBNL and Mavin boss clashed at the headies over Lil Kesh and Reekado Banks at the Headies all because of the controversial Next Rated category. Reekado went on to win, Olamide reacted, Don Jazzy, in his usual ‘epic’ manner served Olamide. The aftermath? They divided and shared Lagos between them, without the consent of Oba Akiolu and Ambode. I honestly didn’t know that musicians could sell places or areas in Lagos, not until this happened. With the mainland belonging Olamide and the Island belonging to Don Jazzy, Oba Akiolu and Ambode were left puzzled. Africa’s number one tycoon was the Deus ex Machina in the sour land grabbing tale, all thanks to Headies.

Dammy Krane vs Wizkid: So this two broke bottles on themselves at Quilox just because they had nothing to do in the studio. Well, the duo could not share other parts of Lagos for reasons unknown. Dangote was on leave at the time and the mogul just could not step into this one.

Olisah Metuh arrested: The first goat was arrested in January. He went on to become a goat for chowing his statement at the EFCC office in Abuja. Talk about taking back your words, or eating them. The National Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party admitted to collecting 400million from Goodluck Jonathan for a ‘job done’. He cooled off a while though until his lawyers stated praying that he be flown abroad for bad health. What happened to Nigerian hospitals?

Ice Prince vs Girlfriend: Okay, so Ice Prince, beyond his bad boy attitude in music videos is indeed a hopeless romantic dude. Evidences littered the cyber space and his most cherished girlfriend had been seeing a wealthier guy in Abuja. Contrary to what a typical Nigerian man would do, Ice Prince wailed for love, asked the wealthy dude to leave his girlfriend in peace and the love story started again. Talk about eating well preserved vegetables.

February

Tope Aluko vs Fayose (confession on Channels TV): Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary in Ekiti State, Tope Aluko continued the versus trend in February after making serious allegations against Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose. The embattled former secretary revealed how #EkitiGate was perfected in a hotel. The ‘war’ between the duo went on for months while Aluko kept raising alarm of threats to his life and his family.

Peter Vs Jude Okoye: 2016 would forever remain the year many would remember concerning the Okoyes. Who am I deceiving? Nigerians would totally forget that the Okoyes washed their dirty linen in public come 2017. With their elder brother in the mix, Paul and Peter parted ways as a singing duo. And their team? Well, they chose the better devil as the likes of Pappy J went with Peter and Jude with Paul.

Linda Ikeji Vs Wizkid: Ah! The most hilarious versus of 2016! The sultry blogger was given some sufficient amount of Chloroquine by the music star after publishing an article, claiming he had collected some amount of money from the management of American University, Adamawa and failed to perform. Wizkid fired back with some derogatory names while the university management came out to debunk the allegation. Obviously not the end, Linda shaded Wizkid after rapper, The Game, stood up for his baby mama against a troll. The blogger took to his Instagram page with an article which she titled ‘when your baby daddy is not a deadbeat’. This was in reference to an interview in which one of Wizkid’s baby mama referred to him as deadbeat. Wizkid had his pound of flesh on snapchat afterwards with a picture of Linda which he captioned ‘Almost 40, lonely and bitter’.

FFK Vs Modu Sherrif: So we thought the PDP was dead after failing to see Jonathan return as incumbent and after failing sustain rent payment of their secretariat. Parrot Fani-Kayode stepped into the ring with new party chairman to further tell the world that the party is in disarray. Did it stop there? Coming months, perhaps.

AY and Wife: Dynamic but dry comedian, Ayo Makun followed in the long list of celebrities with issues in 2016 after his wife left their home for three days. Stella-Dimikoko had ealier reported that Mabel left the house as a result of marital issues; one which didn’t settle well with the comedian who went hot at the blogger. Long story short, Mabel came back home afterwards while AY claimed she left the house because it was being fumigated. Lie of life.

Olajumoke's rise to fame: The most inspirational, motivating and Cinderella-like story of 2016! A bread seller turned model and internet sensation, all thanks to God and Gospel singer cum photographer, TY Bello who searched for the mystery lady who had earlier photobombed her shoot. The story stopped being funny as ten consecutive topics on Nairaland FP was Olajumoke’s. February 2016 would forever be a year for Olajumoke to remember.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/3940820_image_jpeg_jpeg6f95b5e7a24ad4fc0808d6698fd37362
BRed Vs Yung6ix: Video vixen and bonus to the HKN gang, BRed threatened to beat up Yung6ix when their path crosses for no just cause. Yung6ix had actually taken to Twitter to ‘reveal’ some ‘big names’ (whatever that means), an act which prompted BRed to threaten the warri star. I honestly don’t understand how a male video vixen would think he is a big name.

14-year old Ese rescued from abductor(s): The kidnapping of Ese Rita Oruru, the youngest child of Charles Oruru and Rose Oruru, occurred on 12 August 2015 at her mother's shop in Yenagoa local government area, Bayelsa State. Ese, who was 13 years old at the time, was abducted by man named Yunusa Dahiru (alias Yellow) and taken to Kano, where she was raped, forcibly Islamized and married off without her parents consent. The conversion and marriage took place in the palace of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The internet went agog for over a month as the international communities beamed their light into the case.
From Kwani Police, the case was transferred to the Kano State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Mrs. Rose Oruru was told to return to Bayelsa State and report the situation to the Yenagoa CID. Subsequent attempts to secure the release of Oruru proved abortive until 29 February 2016, when it was reported that she had been rescued by police following a massive campaign by Punch newspaper which sparked national outrage.

March

More abduction revelations: Punch Newspaper intensified its effort on investigation journalism to expose what was described as a grand conspiracy of ‘Islamizing’ Nigeria by some Northern elites. Blessing Gopep, Stolen at 12 from a Bauchi motor park, Linda Christopher, Stolen at 16, name changed to Aisha, Lucy Ejeh, Stolen at 15, forcefully married by abductor at 20, Progress Jacob, 13, Stolen, held by Bauchi Shari’ah commission among a host of others. Apparently, this has been on for a long and Ese Oruru’s abduction brought quite some more to the limelight.

Mile 12 Saga: Yoruba vs Hausa: Mile 12, the most popular market in Lagos became a battle zone between the Hausas and the Yorubas after a Hausa motorcyclist was contained for running into a pregnant woman. The aftermath left 10 persons dead while over 100 hundred were injured, as reported by PUNCH and other media outlets.

Minister of State, Labour dies: Nigeria's Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, James Ocholi, died in a road accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway Mr. Ocholi, SAN, from Kogi state died in a crash with his son.

Osun N6M allocation: Obviously the funniest allocation of the year, Osun state was allocated 6 million Naira by the FG for the month of March. Some thought it was 600 Million at first, only to find out it was truly 6 Million naira.
Breakdown:
Total Gross Allocation: N2.422bn
Total Deductions (External Debts, ISPO and others): N2.416bn
Total Net Amount: N.6.23million
Osun state was close to being advertised on OLX and Jiji. grin grin grin grin

Psquare resolve differences: After so many outburst and drama which they discovered was wearing people out, the twin star decided to come together again and their brother, Jude as their manager. The reunion birthed ‘Bank Alert’, a song I believe they recorded in a hurry.

el Rufia Vs Deputy (Slap Fest in Kaduna) grin grin grin: Social media was abuzz with reports that the governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai and his deputy, engaged in a slap fest, one which the deputy had a upper hand and those in attendance had to rescue the petite governor before his deputy could go Aluu mode. It was reported that the governor was the first to initiate the fest after the deputy announced that certain policies adopted by the governor are not benefitting his constituency and that he might be stoned should he go back home. Arguments here and there and the governor planted a wet slap on his deputy’s cheek. The deputy, restarted by the slap, stayed mum all through until he had the chance to return the favour, while others present held him back from going full MK4 on the governor. El-Rufai came out to deny though but the deputy never did to this day.

Nomoreloss passes on: I could remember singing to ‘Kilode’, one of his tracks in March and was thinking what we did to deserve the generation of musicians we have now when the news of his death popped almost two weeks later. The ‘Iyawo Asiko’ crooner reportedly died of Typhoid in Lagos. RIP Olumuyiwa Osunuga.

Round 1: Wizkid vs Linda Ikeji (Wizkid alleged rent expired): Many thought the initial fight between the duo would suffice for 2016 but that wasn’t the case. The blogger reported this time that the music start was given a quit notice after failing to pay his rent in a house he claimed was his. Wizkid was beyond bitter as he made some derogatory remarks about the blogger in her page. Linda responded with a calm piece but the damage was huge as she was branded as something smelling…
Here’s a quick recap of who said what and what was said.
1. All those shoes and bags still won’t help you get a good man – Wizkid
2. Oh Wizkid! What a child! – Linda
3. You and your laptop will stay married for life – Wizkid
4. You are not 25, we know your real age! – Linda
5. Your mum and your entire family are still losers – Wizkid
6. Did I mention that his Porsche car is also on hire purchase? Oh shit! I just mentioned that – Linda
7. I Googled ‘Linda at 25’ and found nothing! – Wizkid
8. You are nothing but a blogger! All your money won’t change that – Wizkid
9. My director f*****you and left your stinking ass in the hotel because your p**** stinks – Wizkid
10. If I ever see you, I will ask my 16 year old cousin to beat the shit out of you – Wizkid
www.nairaland.com/attachments/3561246_a_png32d3ca5e23f4ccf1e4c8660c40e75f33
Linda, obviously scarred by the name most Nigerians started taunting her with, reported the issue to the Lagos state police commissioner under the guise of ‘Wizkid said he would beat me’. Talk about secondary school kids.

Saraki's trial begins at the CCT: The Senate President and number three citizen of the country, Bukola Saraki, started his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal after many action movies of evading trial among many other things.

Panama Papers implicate Saraki, David Mark, Danjuma (Largest Global Fraud Scandal Ever): Considered to be the largest global fraud scandal in the world till date, the Panama papers are 11.5 million leaked documents that detail financial and attorney–client information for more than 214,488 offshore entities. The leaked documents were created by Panamanian law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca; some date back to the 1970s.

The leaked documents contain personal financial information about wealthy individuals and public official which had previously been kept private. While offshore business entities are legal, reporters found that some of the Mossack Fonseca shell corporations were used for illegal purposes, including fraud, kleptocracy, tax evasion, and evading international sanctions.

Guess what, guys? Nigerians were not missing in action! Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Senate President, David Mark; former Delta State Governor, James Ibori; former Army chief and Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.); Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; and his cousin, Sayu Dantata, are the prominent Nigerians named to have links with the offshore assets revealed in the Panama Papers.

PMS sold for 300/litre due to fuel scarcity: I’m sure many have forgotten we bought fuel for about 300/litre in April. Well the horror started on the 1st of March and it was intense. We can’t remember because it is behind now. We truly ride on emotions and the present as a people.

Fayose vs PMB (China Saga): This has got to be the greatest political joke of 2016. The ever garrulous governor of Ekiti state had been on President’s Buhari case since he was sworn in and remains his greatest opponent till date. So Fayose jetted out after PMB to deliver a keynote speech at China’s 119th Import and Export Trade Fair. The man apparently made a huge joke out of his visit while disgracing his ancestors. Who goes to China just he could pose with a pulpit all in the name of delivering a speech? grin grin grin grin grin
www.nairaland.com/attachments/3606307_12_jpegd077e4317cde1e70737c7d5616929159

#Operationcallyoursenators: In what seems to be the greatest, collective privacy leak in Nigeria, Sahara Reporters published mobile phone numbers of the 109 senators at the upper chamber. According to Sahara Reporters, the idea was to enhance transparency and a more open government. This came after it was alleged that some Senators were subtly endorsing the grazing bill. Trust Nigerians, most chose to bully the senator representing their constituency while screenshots of some asking certain senators for money littered the cyberspace.
Saraki's counsel vs Justice Umar Danladi: Saraki and his counsels frustrated the CCT with many please and prayers while running to High courts to stall proceedings at the CCT, which didn’t sit well with the judge presiding over Saraki’s case at the Tribunal. In one of their delay tactics, the judge was recorded to have been frustrated, lost his temper. There were calls from the Saraki camp thereafter, asking the judge to step down, the same most people asked Saraki to do which he ignored. Talk about double standard.

Tiwa Savage vs TeeBillz: The year of Edible Catering! A one-time was turned inside out owing to allegations of infidelity. Every good thing comes to end someday, or so they say. Tiwa moved on quite well while Tee billz was forced to remove the ‘billz’ from his name as there were so many of them to settle, according to his estranged wife. I hear he only cuts his hair once in a month now, though.

Leicester City wins the BPL: Underdogs shocked the football world to win the Barclay Premier League while the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool where left kissing the wind. Note I did not mention Man United and Chelsea. We all know where they were when Vardy led Leicester to glory. I feel for Arsenal though.

Buhari signs 2016 budget at last: May 15, 2016 was the day the President signed the 2016 budget into law. The budget was laid before a joint session of the National Assembly on the 22nd of December, 2015. It’s safe to say Nigeria was auto pilot before the budget was finally signed. The first of its kind.

Oba of Benin passes on: The Oba of Benin, Omo n'Oba Erediauwa Akpolokpolo I, was reported dead after battling some unknown illness since 2015.

‘Nigerian politicians are fantastically corrupt’ - UK PM, David Cameron: I could remember when the video of Cameron surfaced while telling the Queen that Nigerian politicians are fantastically corrupt. I could remember the reactions from every corner lashing back at the former Prime Minister while some took him down memory lane, just to remind him that his father was no different from a typical Nigerian politician. He wasn’t lying though. Nigerian politicians are fantastically corrupt.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/3699330_89653098de371_jpeg21e0c567ec01eedfb8d8e83e6b248263
The rise of Fulani herdsmen: While the Presidency claimed Boko Haram had technically been defeated, a subtle sect in the guise of Fulani Herdsmen rose to prominence and became the real deal as security operatives gave them the free will to roam. Mind you, they have long been around before now, committing atrocities here and there, but for some reasons, they grew in power as the Presidency stayed mute over their activities.

The rise of Niger Delta Avengers: The NDA was birthed in March 2016 but didn’t register themselves as daring group until May 2016 when it vowed to cripple the country’s economy. Well, they did so to an extent as they destroyed oil installations in Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.

One of many Chibok girls found: One of many Chibok girls kidnapped under Goodluck Jonathan’s watch was found after disappearing for about two years. Amina Ali Nkeki was found carrying a baby around the Cameroonian border.

When Tomatoes was Gold: Tomatoes became Gold earlier this year as a result of ‘Tuta Absoluta’, a ravaging insect pest which destroyed well over 40% of harvest. I could remember some blaming the President like he was the one who transformed to sucking out all harvested tomatoes. Alternatives such as ‘Banga stew’ was adopted while desperate Nigerians cashed in on expired canned tomatoes. It was a trying period though we survived.

Uju Stella Vs burna boy: So Burna Boy and one of his random social media girls graced the spotlight after the young lady called him out for getting her pregnant. Dude went ballistic on the poor girl and claimed they did it ‘just once’. Apparently the girl was rejected by the musician’s mum. The outcome? Burna Boy could not tow Davido’s path. He’s not all that wealthy.

June

PMB launches Ogoni Land Cleanup: There were mixed reactions following the $1 Billion cleanup launch in Ogoni for two major reasons; Jonathan had failed to achieve this while in office as someone from the South-South, the Niger Delta Avengers made a death threat, a threat the President took quite seriously and didn’t show up in Ogoni, Rivers.

Cassius Clay passes on: AKA as Muhammed Ali, the legendary boxer passed on June 3rd, 2016. The Kentucky boy died at the age of 74 after battling with Parkinson for a very long time.

Keshi passes on: Former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, joined the list of celebrities to transit to the great beyond on the 8th of June in Delta State. He passed on five months after his wife died, following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Henrietta Kosoko passes on: The news of her death came two days after Keshi’s. The Urhobo born Nollywood star was the third wife veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, would be losing to the cold hands of death. She died at 53.

Shuaibu Amodu passes on: June saw to the exit of two Nigerian coaches, with Shuaibu making the second coach. He died just two days after Keshi, and on the same day as Henrietta Kosoko, at the age of 58.

IGP Arase bows out as Kpotun Idris takes over: Former police chief, Solomon Arase, handed over to his successor, Ibrahim K Idris at the IGP conference center in Abuja.

Aisha Buhari vs Fayose: Fayose had accused the First Lady over her alleged role in the Harliburton scandal, claiming he had proofs to back up his claim. The First Lady threatened to sue the governor for defamation while the Presidency released an international passport, claiming that the Aisha involved in the scandal is not the First Lady but some other Aisha who has the same surname as the Buharis. The poor woman came out to deny the allegations however and Fayose stayed mum, obviously unsure of his so-called proofs.

Fayose vs Zenith Bank: Fayose, being implicated in Dasuki’s sharing fest had told the media that Zenith bank funded his campaign, one which the bank came out to deny. In order to mend broken fences between both parties, the sent delegates to Fayose’s home to ‘plead’, a moment Fayose lived for as he was well prepared with his media team who captured the ‘we beg to differ’ moment grin grin grin

Bukky Ajayi passes on: Legendary actress, Zainab Bukky Ajayi passed on immediately after Ramadan. She passed on at 82.

Portugal wins Euro 2016: The Seleccao did the unimaginable by winning the European national tourney, even more without their main man. France, the host, was in sublime form from the start to the final which saw Eder seal a lone goal for the Seleccao. An injured Ronaldo who whimpered while substituted outperformed Arsene Wenger that night in the coaching area and was the main attraction despite being pulled out at the initial half of the match. Meanwhile, La Midget ruined his most glorious chance of winning a national trophy after shooting a penalty into space. Chile went on to the Copa America, La midget ‘retired’ from international football but came back afterwards. I guess it explains why Ronaldo is better. cool

Dino vs Remi Tinubu: Another comic episode of Nigerian lawmakers unfolded at the upper chamber following a spat between Senator Dino Melaye and Oluremi Tinubu. Melaye had allegedly told Remi Tinubu that he would beat, rape and get her pregnant and the ‘powerful’ BAT would do nothing. To prove this, Melaye went down to Lagos and took several pictures of the infamous Bourdillon where the Tinubus live. His damage control was however worse; while speaking to pressmen, he stated that Remi Tinubu is more like a sister and there was no way Remi Tinubu could get pregnant as she has attained menopause.

Budget Padding: Jibrin vs Dogara: So a major can of worm blew open as erstwhile Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Jibrin Abdulmumin raised allegations against Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara. Jibrin claimed the budget which took the present months to sign was padded. The lawmaker went ahead to mke several allegations on Twitter against the Speaker as he was stripped of his office. Dogara, however, came out afterwards to say ‘padding is not unconstitutional and is not a crime’. Corruption stares boldly in the APC regime, no doubt.

August

Rice on a whole new level: First it was PMS, then tomatoes and then rice. Contrary to popular belief that the clampdown on ‘foreign’ rice is responsible for its scarcity nationwide, eperts had predicted in May that the world would suffer major rice shortage after global production was hit by extreme weather patterns, potentially fuelling an international price crisis. Rice still remains a scarce commodity despite the intervention of Ebonyi and Kebbi that have painstakingly sustained a portion of the country with its harvest. Anambra would have been a great addition but its internet rice no one has ever bought, one wonders if Nigerians have turned the proverbial cock being punished with a bottle of corn. Lagos? Well, the Lake rice still remains elusive as PMS during scarcity.

Robert Mugabe orders athletes’ arrest: grin grin grin On the 24th of August, Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, ordered that the country’s Olympic team be arrested for ‘wasting’ the country’s resources and for failing to win a reasonable medal in Brazil. Mugabe issued the order to the commissioner general of Zimbabwe police republic, asking that the ‘rats we call athletes’ be arrested and detained. Although one of the athletes tried, he was the closest to winning a thing after coming 8th in his category. Till date, no one knows what became of the ‘rats’.

Cool FM sacks Freeze: The outspoken OAP was fired after posting a controversial picture of himself and Basketmouth’s wife cuddling, one whom he referred to as an old family friend. Bovi Ugboma, a close friend and Basketmouth’s colleague reacted to Freeze’s post with the full picture Freeze earlier posted. Cool FM, angered by its OAP’s controversies announced that the On Air Personality no longer works with them.

Cool FM reemploys Freeze: Well, it didn’t take long after he was fired to be recalled. He confirmed this after posting a picture of himself with his boss, Mr Moussali, which he tagged ‘father and son’. He has stopped attacking Basketmouth however. Pastors are now his targets.

Mark Zuckerberg visits Nigeria: Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg made a surprise visit to Nigeria in August. What’s more is that he took to the streets jugging without security operatives. In a funny twist, Mark visited Kenya, dined with government officials, something he didn’t do in Nigeria. Well, Kenyans called out Nigerians as they wanted to compare and contrast. Our social media airforce team roasted them before they landed, averting a continental clash. If we would want to clash with any country, it wouldn’t be Kenya, not in the least of ways. angry

Global shock – U.S. Elections: The world was left in total shock after Trump thumped Hillary Clinton to win the US Presidential election. Hillary bagged four states at the initial stages of the election but the tide turned in so fast that the rejoicing camp of Hillary was put on hold. Obama had even come out to show solidarity, a subtle, non-vocal way of congratulating Hillary before the elections ended.

TB Joshua great miss: Pastor TB Joshua had made a logical prediction of the eventual winner and what would follow afterwards. His prediction, he claimed, was given him to him by God and he saw the new president who happens to be a woman. According to him, she would face some stiff oppositions as the congress would kick against her bills. In the video, TB Joshua was jeered by many of his followers while reading from a piece of paper. However, gears changed when Trump shocked the world. TB Joshua took down the Facebook post wherein he gave the same prediction as the ne in the video. Local news agencies and the international media soon forgot Trump and the Synagogue pastor graced the spotlight. Obviously pressured, the pastor was forced to restore the post with the excuse that his prediction was right afterall as Hillary won (Electoral College Vote). His followers staunchly defended the pastor, stressing that the prophecy was ‘technically right’. iWeak. undecided

Seun Egbegbe the new iPhone merchant: Film maker and former husband of popular actress Toyin Aimaku, was ushered to the spotlight for being an unofficial iPhone merchant. The film maker was apprehended while trying to make away with nine (9) iPhone 7. Although he claimed he was going to get the money to pay for the phones from his car before he was called a thief, he was saved by security operatives who rescued him from an irate mob. I think his case is spiritual though.

Ondo Gubernatorial Election: One of the best election under PMB so far. The Ondo election raised so many dusts initially but settled peacefully as the PDP candidate, alongside the AD candidate kept mum.

Rivers Election: I was in Rivers on Wednesday, just some few days to the recent re-run. It was indeed a sight to behold as anti-terrorism squad teams journeyed from Enugu down to Portharcourt. The air in Rivers clearly spelt tension. All in all, both parties rigged but the APC obviously outrigged the PDP as Amaechi and his boys made their presence known.

Ronaldo wins ballon d'or: CR7 sure would have something to write about 2016 as he beats Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezman to the most coveted individual trophy. With the recent addition, he has edged closer to Messi and just a single trophy separate them.

MMM freezes: Okay, so I won’t say much here so as not to be stoned by those affected. The Ponzi scheme has however confirmed that they would be back on the 14th of January, 2016, ‘stronger’. The media has not assisted victims of the scheme so far since it announced that it is on ghost mode, pause mode. January 14 is closer than ever and would be a major highlight in 2017.

Zahra Buhari weds: The young Zahra broke the heart of many young Nigerians after committing to his billionaire man. Zahra is off the market, unfortunately and her exit was celebrated in a grand style.

Trump wins Electoral College vote, officially becomes President: Finally, Trump won the Electoral College vote, to officially become the 45th President of the United State. I’m sure this just about settled TB Joshua once and for all.

Ibori released from Prison: Ex Delta State Governor and convicted criminal, James Onanefe Ibori, is presently a free man. His recent release might interest the EFCC whose social media handler has been alive more than ever, all thanks to whoever is managing the account. Ibori’s case is obviously a movie and a highlight to look out for in 2017.

Headies disqualifies Tekno: The young musician was the first to throw shades after it was announced that the singer is among this year’s Next Rated contenders. Obviously unaware of the idea behind the Next Rated, Tekno took to social media to announce that he was bigger than the category. Long story short, he was schooled before being disqualified. An obviously pained Tekno registered his displeasure at the move while performing at the Rhythm Unplugged with the chant ‘dem be God?’

2017 is definitely a year to look forward to. With MMM promising its victimsparticipants that they would bounce back, and with Ibori a free man for now, I believe 2017 would usher in more drama than 2016 did. cheesy

True that, perhaps you could add that on the side with the month. I already left two months vacant, just so others could join in.

Mynd44, need your input here as well.

So after all the honey moon stunt; the billionaire's son can't even come and confirm to Nigerians if Zara is still a virgin or not after all the support we accrued to them... it's none of my business though!
