I'm sure you know by now that Persistence is KEY in this journey. Remember that majority of the inventors, scholars, etc of what we enjoy today experienced thousands of failed experiments but kept at it till it became perfect.

You are presently carrying out your own experiments so calm down, the story is about to change. Let's all remain hopeful.

Thanks for the concern my personal. I was ruminating on the kind of delay this English test is giving me. I was here in April 2016 when this thread was inaugurated, now it's 150pages but I can't finger- point much achievement.....

You must have professional job for at least 12 months before applying for permanent resident, though you can get around this.

On 489, employer can only offer you contract terms and not permanent employment until you change your visa.

@bellong

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Even though we are looking at subclass 189/190, out of curiosity, I would you to clarify the bolded expression above...How can one get around it i.e. "professional job"?

Can you please give examples of Regional Areas that have good employment prospects?

Thanks for your anticipated response.

@Mamajaz,

The race is not to the swift..... Time and chance happens to them all..

Wait, your time will come madam. I understand the feeling, you are not alone.....

It shall soon become a story...

@40manlappy,

Way around is to look for job in another regional areas after trying for so long in your region and then initiate the release process.

Ask your region to release you. They will ask proof of jobs you have applied to and how many months you have tried to live in the area. If they are convinced you have done your best, they issue you a release letter. After which you can pick up the job.

The clause is, you must live in a regional area even if you get released in your old region. You can't look for job in a city, it must be a regional area.

That being said, the whole of South Australia including Adelaide is classified as a regional area.

Sorry, never done any search on regional area with employment prospects, so I don't know. However, if Newcastle, NSW and Bendigo, Victoria are classified as regional areas, they look promising.

Is it possible and advisable to front load medicals even before assessment result is out.

Am asking because it's likely a "bun in the oven" story might enter the equation before EOI.

I like to factor in all variables when I make my calculations.

...... thank you house

Please note that your medicals have one year expiry date. I know someone who got PR and he was told that he must enter Australia before a date which was one year after his medicals.

So I would advise you do assessment first as the duration for that alone could take weeks/months.

@bellong

Thanks for further clarifications.

I also discovered that the entire states of South Australia, Tasmania and the whole of Northern Territory are classified as Regional Areas.

I know how it feels sis but see it as cobweb alongside your success story..
Here is my OZ story so far
I started the journey sometimes in 2013 with student visa, along the line I missed my footsteps and was given a three year ban because I gave false and misleading document. When i saw the outcome of my visa application, I knew I was in a big mess, I felt bad and poured the anger on my partner cos he encouraged the false document. I was down for months because I couldn't believe myself. The truth remains that I was part of that decision whether I like it or not because I took the final step. I was broken into piece but did I give up my dreams because I made a mistake in my first attempt? The answer is no!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to dwell in my past mistake and use it as an excuse for......... I can only give up when He "God" is not part of my dreams.
So, put your self together and match on, you are almost there ...... Just one more step Sis

Was in ur shoes...but I disconnected the oven from gas supply until after EOI was submitted. In any case, do your calculation, if you are sure assessment + EOI + ITA + lodgement can happen within one year of Medicals, then go ahead and get it done asap.

Congrats on the positive assessment! I assume you have submitted EOI by now. If not, please join the queue sharply. Don't joke with ur 20 pointer PTE if it is needed. Medicals can be done ahead if you are sure ITA will arrive within a year of health clearance. As for PCC, just go Alagbon, na from the gate dem go start to dey drag u for patronage. 5k go do per head. All the best with the rest of the journey.

@ Bnimz & Jamson...all other useful inputs also appreciated
Pls I need to be cleared on something...At what point exactly do you need to tender maximum points of 65 or 70 as the case may be? From comments here, it seems like you don't need maximum points especially from English tests, for the first stage of the skill assessment. Pls I need urgent responses... cheers folks.

Its possible that for some professions 60 points would be ok in getting you an Invitation to Apply (ITA). However for some hotly contested professions where the number of prospective applicants is large, you may need a minimum of 70 points to ensure you get an ITA. This is because there are many in the queue who have 70 points and so would be picked first before someone with 60. If you check this url http://www.border.gov.au/WorkinginAustralia/Pages/18-january-2017-round-results.aspx for information on the last draw, you will see that the Accountants who were invited for ITA had a minimum of 70 points and had been on the queue since Sept last year!

So in essence, it depends on how competitive your profession is.

Check her occupation on the list; if she qualifies for PR visa, push her well to apply for it. A PR visa is definitely better than a spousal visa- and IMO, easier to get if you qualify.

I just heard they ve changed location, so I.might not be accurate. Anyway, its still the same closed fitted room, microphone and just that you are being watched from a glass in bellaz as against from a CCTV in Ukeas.
No much difference honestly... just ensure you test the microphone properly and be satisfied with the output before beginning, irrespective of how the admin will tell you otherwise.

Mechanical engineering which I understand has been placed on the pro-rata list... I need like 70 points if am to get invitation before the end of this financial year. That said, am yet to begin this pr process and still working on my cdr. I have got 10 points on ielts and I don't wanna claim points on experience which actually isn't much. That brings it to 55 points. So am asking if I can do my skill assessment based on this point while I hope to gather more points before ITA drops. Put differently... does the points count for anything for this first stage of skills assessment?
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by funkyjo: 6:55pm On Jan 26, 2017
@aceblazer
EA requires you get a minimum of 6 points in each of the four modules. You can go ahead with your assessment of you meet this requirement. I also had 10 points from ielts when i did my assessment with EA. I later wrote the pte to get the maximum points. In other words, do not waste any more time, get assessed with your current 10 points while you prepare to get 20 points needed for eoi. I hope i have been able to answer your query.

Apparently you need all the points you can get. Depending on your age, qualification and English proficiency scores, it's hard for me to determine your absolute potential scores. But from all indications, your 10 pointer English cannot fly ooo. You have to start working towards a 20 pointer which lots of people have secured on this thread via PTE. Let's have your points breakdown so we can advise further.
