Imagine! I recharged for one month and only had power for five days

Right move, somebody had to do something very quick!

You forgot to state how much fuel you buy just to enjoy your cable subscription.

Smh for multichoice

DSTV must adopt best practices in it's business dealing with Nigerians. Yearly increase of subscription rates on it's various bouquet is not acceptable. Government should protect the citizens from exploitation by multinational companies operating in the country.

The next one is for Cinemas.

If you buy ticket to watch movie and you leave midway, you will collect half of the money.

After that, Stadiums too e.g. If your team is losing 4-0 after 60 minutes you can get a third of your money as refund if you decide to leave. grin grin

What they do in other africa countries is pay as you go....why can they do the same in a country of almost 200 million...

Won't they still make their profits?

The must be compelled to provide the pay as you go option

and also their monopoly over the showing of the English Premier League in Nigeria must be broken!

Otherwise our leaders would be complete nonentities to say the least!

You are missing the point . They supply a 30 days service .which you pay for . If you do not have electricity to watch how in God's name is that thier prone?
If you TV and box was enabled or powered bt solar panels would you have any qualms ?
So as u can see the only reason U watch 10 days out of 30 is cos your leaders failed you in the power supply sector .

We need more competitors like we have in telecoms .

If This Goes Through, It Would Be Victory For Nigerians.
That is if it goes through. Remember that this is not the first time the issue of Pay As You Go for cable tv has been mentioned in this same House. It was not even debated before being discarded. So, do not get your hopes high yet until it materialises. Nigerian legislators have a way of frustrating Bills or Resolutions that will benefit majority of Nigerians once they are settled.

Do You Complain Of Bills When You've Not Been Supplied Electricity During The Billed Period? Do You Disconnect From Your DISCO When You Pay For Unused Electricity??

Electricity is an essential service, television is not.

No difference between you and ncc. Ncc lost focus and you too lost focus. Wetin concern Ncc with NBC work? Writin concern you with bbnaija? How does it contribute to your life or that of your country?

This is nonsense.

These guys should break the monopoly. Strengthen star times by opening/breaking the sports package. In the UK, football and other sports packages are split between Sky, BT and sometimes ITV. This way, no one entity will laud it over the other

The very FIRST TIME our so called National Assembly will live up to expectations.

I don't really blame all these South Africa firms riding on our back and smiling to the CitiBank daily.

The likes of DSTV, MSN, SHOPRITE, SPAR and so on have one thing in common.....to suck Nigerian's dry!

The NCC is another rogue, collaborating with these South Africa firms to Milk us dry.

I could recall how MTN sold a SIM Card for 25k at the inception of GSM in Nigeria before Globalcom spoilt market for them......it's terrible!

May God all the Nigeria masses ijn.
for ur information., d stupid rogues did not leave up to expectation..

secondly at d inception of GSM., a sim goes for #50000 to #70000

This is a welcomed development! For once, our lawmakers are proving their mettle

This present payment method favours only the PayTv company as it doesnt matter whether people watch their TV or not, every 30days they will be compelled to subscribe afresh. People should pay for what they watch/use. That is how it is done even in South Africa, the country of origin of DSTV

However, if this succeed, our regulatory bodies must prevail on PayTv companies to fix a reasonable rate per hour. Otherwise, we will find ourselves be shortchanged even more than now.

Friends in the UK and other places wonder how we are able to watch everything in Nigeria with just 1 monthly pay....EPL, Champions League, La Liga, CNN, Sky News, etc etc. Those guys are probably making the move because ds has refused to 'play ball' I really dont trust those guys.

pay as you go is more expensive and you won't enjoy the full benefit of your package.

but it is more feasible for a country like nigeria as there is no constant power supply for you to enjoy your service 24/7

don't blame dstv blame nigeria and it government

honestly all service like this are increased annually...was it the same amount you use in subscribing for data plan last 2 years that you still pay now?

When you go to the gym, you can’t just pay for the treadmill..you pay for the whole gym service..imagine if you just had to pay for the treadmill do you think you will fully benefit?

I will not blame multi choice for price review, think of the following
1,over the years has the government being able to provide steady and constant power ?
2, I believe you are aware they also have base stations for signals to various subscribers decoders have you thought of the cost of running them,
The government is not helping issues, provide the enabling environment and see whether price will not come down

Tbh do you think that's fault of multi choice ? ?

Yes it's their fault!

But it's never the fault of mTn and others when they migrate to per seconds billing if you were born then and of rightful age. Reasons! Acceptable international practice

As it's obtainable by international practice, so it should be in this part of country.
