The death toll of a meningitis outbreak in Nigeria has reached 813 sixteen weeks after it started.

Nigeria's Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, who made the revelation on Wednesday in Abuja, said the disease is now spreading more slowly.

“As of yesterday (Tuesday), the number of deaths stood at 813”, he said after the presidential meeting cabinet meeting, adding however, “As of now, we are also noticing a decline”.

“This is week 16. This is also expected because we are moving away from the active season. We are confident that in the next couple of weeks everything will be over.”

816 dead from a preventable outbreak and no outcry?
There was a news about how the men in charge of the vaccines stole them, and the rest they were selling at N1000 to people.

And one efulefu was telling telling me how Igbo people are greedy and selfish, how Hausa love each other, I just asked him why wouldn't Hausa love themselves when they steal ordinary vaccines meant to save lives of their people and divert food meant for IDPs.
That kind of love is stronger that Jesus own indeed.
What a brotherly love.

This country has become a mass graveyard. People are dying in great numbers. No one cares. If you talk, dey go kill you join. We are doomed. And we are just ordinary people trying to make a living, under the yoke of an accursed government.

As much as I love what you have wrote out. But let us not be far from the truth. You know nigeria youth and common civilian behave the way they do not because we hate ourself; Rather It is clearly because of the failure and consistent heatbreaking and difficult situation we find our self, I tell you of truth If a typical nigeria man can be comfortable he will accomdate any tribe. Advising will not help like you are doing, this is the internet and it is the access for a any nigeria to throw their frustration at, It is just a Transfer of agreession of our failed goverment and our lack of competent leader.

Cluelessness, a prof of medicine.
813 died under your watch and its been announced like no big deal.

Worst part, it's been left to naturally decline by relying "its season" coming to an end?

Gosh! This country is actually very sick if this is the kind of Doctor or Minister of Health we are parading.
