At a point in a man's life, he should be able to take action and decide on how to live his life without the validation of anyone. This is a time when he should be able to choose his life partner by his own discretion, move freely among friends, have his own personal apartment. But even at that, some men have crossed the age of thirty yet they can't take decision themselves and stand on it, they always want to please their parents and are very indecisive in decision making which clearly shows he is still a mummy's boy. More points will be discuss below to buttress these kind of guys. 1. His mother decides on whom he should marry/date It's very disgraceful that we are in a country where some adult man can't decide whom he will marry nor stand on his decision with the validation of family members.The worst case of it is that, at that age, some of them will discard any lady their mothers don't like even if it's on the ground of tribalism or race. This is one of the clear signs that a man is still a mummy's boy 2. He calls his mother at any slight disagreement with his girlfriend or wife The height of immaturity usually exhibited by some of these grey haired men is that some of them may be married but they still see a part of themselves in their parents house. When a little disagreement encrued in their matrimonial home, they start disturbing their mum on the phone to report their wives for any ridiculous thing that he can solve by himself. 3. He taxs his mum for money Though, it is not bad to seek for financial assistance from one's mum, it's rather shameful to see an able bodied man in his 30's demanding money from his mum to play football bet, aja n sare, recharge card to impress side chics, etc. It's funny to note that these category of guys are usually promiscuous with sugar-coated tongues even though they are running on zero Naira account balance. In fact, some of them are ambassadors for deflowering and impregnating young girls. 4. He can't invite his girlfriend to his parents house Out of his fear of how their mum will scold him for bringing a lady home, he would borrow his friend apartment to entertain his girlfriend and switch off his phone to avoid mum's call. Perhaps when sweet rendezvous, touching and bleeping is about to start, a call from his mum will make him discard the lady leaving her frustrated of konji. 5. They can't attend night events Some mothers have strong hold on their sons that once it's 7pm, they are told to return home. Some of them will have to lie to their mumsy that are going for vigil just to chill out with friends or girl friends. This is one of the signs that a man is still a mummy's boy. 6. Their mothers still decide what they should wear Imagine a guy who cannot buy shirts or shoes for himself in the absence of his mother is still mummy's puppet. It is hilarious especially for an old fashioned mother who chose over sized shirts and low quality traditional fabrics for his son. 7. They can't hang out with friends due to curfew placed by their mothers For a guy who says his mother complains about the friends he keeps even when there is no derogatory attitude to fault them is still underage even if he is an adult. In the midst of his friends, he can't hold a meaningful conversation without refereeing his mum and after some time, he will start shaking/sweating due to frequent calls from his mother to know his whereabouts. 8. OP, you forgot to add those that shamelessly marry in their father's house and begin to bear children afterwards. You also forget the ones that are up to 30 but can't take decisions and stand on it without the validation of their mum or family members. These are people who come to Nairaland seeking advice on how to end a relationship with the person they wish to marry the moment their mother or family members tell them not to marry her for ridiculous reasons. Guys like this still suppose dey suck bre'ast milk ooo You also forgot the ones that are above 30 yet they don't allow peace reign on Nairaland, they womanize a lot and follow anything on skirt, they derail people's threads, bash anyone that cross their paths and commit so many other atrocities. While you made some awesome talks, there are a few lapses though. No 2: Human nature, some people are indecisive, haven't you noticed? They always feel someone has a better opinion than theirs, mothers having been in the marriage successfully, don't you think they know better? No 4: I totally disagree with this one. In Africa I believe one of the grassroot culture is respect. Only in in Africa. It's not about being a mummy's boy or not. It's believed that once you start bringing a girl home things have gotten pretty serious. No 5 & 7: They're almost the same point so I will go ahead. Some of us aren't yet married and maybe you can ask the ones with kids how they feel once their kids are out late. Of course they get worried. Like me I grew up in a very strict environment and it has made me conscious working with time and I'm reaping the harvest now, unless I'm caught in traffic or I'm headed to a diner, Unwinding with my buddies once in a while. The truth is most times we do not appreciate what we have while we got it.
