They already know this, hence why they frustrated that deal. Morata wanted to leave, Mourinho wanted him badly. You could even feel this by his tone in that press conference. At a point United players were very convinced he'd sign because he'd already agreed a deal with us remaining for Madrid to play their own part.

Madrid couldn't stand on his way to leave, so in order to ruin the party for us, they refused to lower their asking price which scuppered the deal. They just paid us back for frustrating De Gea's deal last season. Fair game, TBH.

I listened to his press conference... The madness of the window is beginning to dawn on everyone. Clubs want to mug off big clubs for good players as against big players according to him. It's a sad development really looking at what Morata, Lukaku, Walker, Lacazette are worth and what they are asking for average perisic. I think we just have to accept whatever we get and move on. No 'good but not big' player will come cheap again amd it seems utd is not willing to bend over to be magad serially. What saddens me is that even if we had 5 options on the list with Woodward, i am sure the 5th on that list will be up to £30 mil +

REAL Madrid didn't lose they don't need the money, we are the biggest losers this transfer market, lindelof is starting to look suspect and Lukaku spends half the time chasing his first touch the other half getting caught offside but I'm not judging, it's still preseason.

Sometimes I just wonder if we still have a scouting system in place. I really miss Fergie. All these nonsense that is happening is just frustrating. There are players playing for lesser teams or leagues that have the quality and can play at the biggest stage if given the chance. It's not like as if all these expensive players are any guaranty. If only we know how to tell teams to fvck off when they quote useless amount but we will be begging them with 80 mil. They better win the league.

Left for me he should just get dembele from dortmund and sessegnon from fulham and we have covered the LW/RW and LWB or bench LB/RB position for less money and 10 years worth of potential! Anything left in the bank goes into midfield! Some of these young stars have old heads on their shoulders...give them a chance! The ripple effect of having so many good young players being led by pogs and the experienced guys and the fact that the club has entrusted them with leading the club forward could lead to an Ajax type situation of over achievement !

Another way out of this transfer market mess, apart from laying more emphasis on developing your own talents from the ranks is for clubs to improve their scouting and discover these gems for themselves.

How hard can this be ffs.

How much will it cost to set up a scouting network match or even surpass the likes of Monaco, benfica etc. Surely the resources cannot be the problem.
