good morning house. Please can a person write a letter of introduction and also a letter that he is going to finance your visit to Canada? Note he would submit his account statement to back it up. |

1. Well the only way to improve your chances of getting a Canadian level to a high rate, is to be a citizen of a developed country e.g. BRICS, NATO, G7,G8 etc. There are people who have woken up this morning, planning on going to Canada next weekend and are certain of getting their visas, because they come from developed countries. 2. Look, its their country, they can decide not to give you a visa for what ever reason they feel like, in accordance to their laws. A visa is permission to knock on the door, its the CBP officer that has the final decision to let you in or not. A visa is not a right, but a privilege. 3. Countries know that making their visa applications hard will affect them negatively in the long run, so they have to balance their act. 4. It is a well-known fact that 50% of Nigerian applicants wish to illegally migrate, so no one buys the story that you wish to go on vacation (it does not make sense for an 'uncle', not even the father, to sponsor an adult, just apply for a PR its straight-forward and you can appeal the decision. 5. If you truly wish to go on vacation to Canada and you are refused, find somewhere else to go, its your money and their loss. 3 Likes 1 Share |

highway04: dear Highway04, your question is quite confusing. how do you mean why they collect visa fee? 185CAD which can even be for a 5-year visa? the US charge 160USD for a 1-3 minutes(ideally) interview for adjudication by a VO and are not even interested in documents and would not issue beyond 2 years. the UK charge 131USD (last i applied) for a 6-month visa and few hundred short of a thousand dollars for 5-10 years. the fee is a processing fee. the VOs are workers and have to be paid. the consulate has to be run and all staff paid. several companies in Nigeria, even indigenous ones, pay their staff over 200USD as daily estacodes when on official duties abroad. @KaptainAfrica, this is a burden brought upon us by ourselves.people always misunderstand that a visa is not by force and cant even guarantee entry. people also forget that everyone's circumstance is different. until my sister was a PR, she never flew into Canada via pearson airport in Toronto because of the horror stories she has heard of the place. last year, my junior sister spent 14 hours being queried at pearson but just months later, i spent less than 2 minutes with the CBSA officer with whom i was even smiling. if a country refuses you visa for a vacation, going somewhere else is best because appealing may even suggest that there is a hidden agenda.worse, the appeal can even go in your favour and you can be issued a 1-month visa. what then are you going to do with that? about sponsorships, we have discussed severally that it does not make sense to take your sponsorship outside your nuclear family. an uncle has more pressing things to do than to sponsor your vacation abroad and in most cases, individuals cant even prove, with documents especially birth certs and family tree, that this individual is indeed a blood relative. a visa applicant must qualify for an application himself before external factors are considered and honestly, money is not the primary issue for Canada.people with 800,000NGN as account balance get visas daily. you must vet your application unbiased before you submit it because only then can you attempt to see the picture from a VOs eyes. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Emvicprints1: hi Emvicprints1, it depends. if this person is a member of your nuclear family, they can sponsor you and you must show evidence of the relationship. but this sponsorship is not a VOs primary concern. you must prove, with relevant and verifiable documents, that you are well established in NIgeria and shall return. a canadian VO is trained to see through your application without sighting you and if they werent so well trained, getting other 1st world countries visas wouldnt be a walkover when you have visited canada and have enough money as it is today, at least in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Quite erudite and informative KaptainAfrica. But does that mean vacation is now a non gratae in the Canada immigration law? Can't they grant visitors visa to spend some quality time in their country any longer? I need an answer please as i'm also planning visiting Calgary come end of the year. God bless KaptainAfrika: |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jawa: 10:08pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
Menakay: dear Menakay, you need to calm down sir. a VO will not refuse an application for 'no good reason'. the VO does not know the applicant so this is not a personal decision. there are qualities and attachments the VO is looking out for that the applicant falls short of. an ex senior colleague of mine who earns over 500,000NGN lived and studied in the UK for 5years, did a 1-year program in India and has his third US B1B2 visa but when he applied for a canadian visa even while on a vist to the US, it was denied. he even has 2 children, an irish citizen and a US citizen. he then told me that the VO saw his heart that he was never going to return. in my knowledge and from people i know personally, the Australian and New Zealand visas carry far more weight than the UK visa. talking of the UK, once you have money(not lodged) and have engagements, its about the easiest visa to get after the US visa. the immigration lawyer you contacted will probably get the case notes as well and have a look at it and if he is honest, he will advise you to not appeal if the reasons are concrete. an immigration lawyer is not superior to a VO and even if he wins the appeal, if a CBSA officer is unsatisfied with the circumstances of the issuance, the immigration lawyer cannot help in that case as a CBSA officer's decision at POE, unfortunately, is final. best of luck |

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jawa: 10:15pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
stjsd: dear stjsd, you have to understand how the process works. the processing times are just guidelines. and the cic website states that most, not all, applications are processed within the time frame. if there is delay in verification of any document, the VO will not go ahead with processing. its that simple. so if you applied online, sometimes you get change notification emails but when you log on, you see no change. this is because a VO had just logged on to resume your application but a document he/she awaits has not been submitted by a verifying institution who issued it. be patient, your application will surely come back to you. worry will not speed it up. best of luck. 1 Like |

Yjc07: hi Yjc07, this decision completely depends on you, how bad you want the canadian visa and how important the film festivals are. as a quick note, if this film festival is not directly in line with your work and/or you academic qualifications, this application may likely be refused. best of luck |

Liz2014: hi Liz2014, congratulations. just a quick one, if you are a Canadian PR and have a good job, the super visa will be in order for your parents so in case you want them or any of them to stay beyond six months. look into it on CIC's website, you may find it useful. |

Rachie83: hi Rachie83, with a valid US visa, a holder can visit Georgia(the country and must be flying into Tbilisi), Turkey(must be flying into istanbul Atartuk and on Turkish Air or specified airlines), Mexico, US territories such a s Pueto Rico and even do a Transit in the UK(under certain conditions) but cannot fly through or to Canada. by through, i mean transit, as Canada and the US do not support air-side transits so you must pick your bags, go through immigration and CBSA/CBP as the case may be, then check your bags for your connecting flight. to answer your question, you will need a canadian visa for this venture. this can be obtained home or abroad in the US but my advise is always on the former.best of luck |

akangunapase: hi akangunapase, the processing times you should work with is the one displayed on CIC website on the day your application was submitted but this is only a guideline nonetheless. just be patient. i know it can be hard to wait but there isnt much you can do in this case. best of luck. 1 Like |

josafunmi: dear josafunmi, hopefully you have not turned in your application just yet because you may have to wait till your circumstances improve. no one can tell your chances, only a canadian VO can. you can however, vet your application by being honest to the concerns a VO may raise. you didnt mention you have a job. you just completed NYSC so you're not tied back home in anyway and you are 23 which is well within the high risk age of intending immigrants. you also have someone in Canada who can help you to settle in easily. i think you should wait for sometime, establish yourself in Nigeria before applying so you get value for the money being spent. the reason you are visiting is also crucial in your application so if it must be Canada, you have to have a concrete reason for it. this is probably not the only relative you have abroad so why are you visiting this particular one? who is s/he? how are you related? can you prove the relationship?best of luck |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jawa: 11:00pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
bolajifive: hi bolajifive, you want to casually waste 370CAD? thats a return ticket from Toronto-Newyork-Toronto (on a delta/United combo not AirCanada). if you can casually cancel the application, why make it in the first place? you have mentioned no intention above to use the passport. be informed that based on the timelines of your application, there is most likely an important verification document being awaited and if you pull the passport, it may likely come with a refusal letter as the VO may be forced to process the application without the document.best of luck |

nifeicon: dear nifeicon, sorry for your refusal and thank you so much for sharing these details. firstly, dont pay lots of attention to all the reasons above, they can tick whatever they like as they are not bound by law to disclose details in the refusal letter. in my opinion, your graduation was a very concrete reason to visit as they cant choose another country to attend your convocation in except canada and Canada issue a lot of first time travelers visas so reasons 1 and 2 are out of it.the 3rd reason however is the topic of the VOs concern and s/he used the 4th and 5th reasons to explain further. the 4th reason is what may have put the VO off. the financing documentation may have been poor. s/he mentioned of concerns to sustain the applicant while in canada and also to effect departure meaning something to fall back on when the applicant returns indicating that you may have been short of reasonable and/or verifiable documents about your mother's business, income and money flow. the 5th reason also talked about you and your sponsorship documentation. some VOs are not as patient as others. a VO can dig to find out if you as the host has a job by simply running your records but some others may only verify what you have provided and if have provided nothing, then thats it. the 4th and 5th reasons summarize the reasons and thats what you need to focus on should you wish to reapply. best of luck |

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by rinw: 3:24am On Sep 10, 2017 |
Hello house, please I need honest review on this case; 1. I have a valid UK and US F1 visa. I applied for Canada tourist visa and did my bio-metric on 30th of August; during my application, I stated that i will start my MSc program by January 2018 (though i have an admission for Fall 2017 but I have sent a mail to the school to defer the admission till spring 2018). 2. On 1st of September, I got a mail from my school granting me tuition waiver for fall, I considered it and traveled to US during the week. 3. Now my concern is VO might think I lied if they check my record with US especially when i have stated in my application that i will begin my studies in January 2018, which was actually my intention as at the time of submitting the Canada visa the application. 4. I hope not to be penalized for misinformation. How can I handle the case. Do I still stand a chance? |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by ladylco: 6:50am On Sep 10, 2017 |
From a reliable source, I learnt that the new consular assigned to Nigeria CIC has been refusing applicants even those who are well qualified i.e those with good jobs, well travelled with valid US, UK Schengel visas. that only on rare cases that she issues visas and she has 3 years to go as she was newly posted lasted year. Am thinking, that explains the high rate of refusal since early last year till date. I don't want to believe this is true sha, but i will advise you try other countries if you really must go for vacation and save that visa fee for your shopping in countries that are willing to grant visa I wish all applicant this best |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by KaptainAfrika: 8:48am On Sep 10, 2017 |
I suspect its due to the fact that, they are taking in Syrian refugees. So they are probably giving more quotas to them than tourists from less developed countries - that's my guess. I also noticed that its harder to get a schengen visa nowadays. Getting a canadian visa for tourism, is now like a high hurdle but that's just my guess. You will need a good travel history, good personal finances, things that will necessitate your return back to Nigeria - family, property, job. Johnmark247: |
