Help With A Dangerous But a non-understandable Medical Condition. by alfarouq(m): 10:42pm On Sep 13, 2017
Hello Doctors and other health personels in the house.

I have got a friend who has been suffering from some health challenges which sometimes affects his behaviors and academics.

He is about 25 years and do always suffer from headache, earache and whistling in the ear. this has significantly affected his academics because for someone who used to have a very retentive memory, now if you give him a sentence that is not more than two lines, he might spend the whole day trying to process the information and if he eventually succeeds, ask him about it after a day and he has forgotten.

parents have tried there best but sometimes they also do not help the situation. they have spent a whole lot of money in seeking treatment but you know for an illness that does not show any physical injury, people tend to think the sufferer is pretending after they have spent some money in trying to obtain treatments or perhaps its just a psychological issue.

the Nigerian factor is also not helping the situation because most of the doctors will request that one takes malaria and typhoid tests and continue to load one with drugs and antibiotics which usually make matters worse because it makes his head light and foggy.

As a child, he was very intelligent and smart and there have always been high expectations from him. his teachers and headmasters always tell his parents to take extra care of him for he has a promising future. there are instances where his school teachers will send for him when his seniors are not able to solve or answer some questions in order to spite the seniors.

He started having this problems when he was in Jss 3 at 12 years when he fell from a bike on his way back from school and he slammed his forehead on the floor, he was taken to the hospital for treatments and whenever he complains of headache, it will be said its as a result of trauma and its going to disappear with time. he had to trust in the doctors and pretend things are getting better to put his mums mind at ease because she was very worried even when the headache gets worse by day and he has to struggle more and expend more energy to be able to process simple information. his academic pursuits became more and more difficult by day and he had to pretend to be lax with his academics in other to give the impression that the reason his academic performance has dropped was because he was no longer serious and hope that it will get better.

He struggled to write his waec and escaped narrowly with a result that some people will indeed be proud of but for someone of his standing its embarrasing.

he was fortunate to secure an admission into the university to study the course of his choice (due to the fact that before his nightmare bagan, he was a mathematics and calculation geek which is suitable for engineering) and did a bit well in his year one because it was part revision and a bit increase or advancement but after that year one, his academic pursuit suffered serious blow especially in theory based topics, in fact he would rather you give him ten complex mathematical questions to solve than ask him to define a terminology that might not be more than two lines. as time went by, he begin to encounter set backs in even the mathematical parts partly because the headache worsens by the day and partly because most of the new concepts have formulas that must be memorized.

He has been to the neuropsychatry, ENT and all sorts of specialist hospitals and had done ECG,EEG, CT and MRI scans but the doctors always say the result shows nothing is wrong.

this has really affected his life. at his age, he does not drive because the moment he enters a car, the magnitude of the headache will increase such that he will think the head will split in pieces and so he makes do with seating on the passenger side because its safer and easier to handle the headache when you are not under the obligation to control the vehicle.

one scary thing about this whole drama is that if you ask him about something he has memorized before the accident, he can define and explain it to you with no effort.

your advice is not only welcomed but encouraged on how to handle the situation because he seem to be beginning to develop low self esteem because all those that knew in his prime believed he must still be the way he was before or better and they are suprised when they find out he is struggling academically,

i am replying before someone begins to write useless solution here. Your patient has suffered from traumatic brain injury (TBI) And the way they can notice the damage is to do a SPECT scan (one scan before and one scan after the first hbot treatment). This is just a diagnostic treatment to prove the existence of brain damage that is not visible in ct or mri.
All the symptoms you described are coming from the injury. The brain is injured and the easiest way to heal it is with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot). There is no need to continue to repeat myself since there enough information on the internet for you to read.

The issue is not to 'sell market' but to get you informed early enough to start treatment anywhere. As you can see the brain continues to degenerate despite all the places and treatments he has received. Patients often get wrong treatment when the problem is not understood.

The brain needs oxygen flow to correct the deficit caused by subclinical scarring in the brain. Oxygen under pressure will increase the network of blood supply bringing in more nutrients and more oxygen to the brain tissues. By this effect the brain can heal itself. There are other factors that are also involved such as stemcell release to the damaged arears which will also contribute to the healing process.

If you need to know more the internet your friend.
Stop wasting money on fake treatments that have no scientific backup. Hope this helps.
