CONTINUE IN YOUR CONSECRATION
TEXT: LUKE 9:62

"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:62).

Albert Einstein, the great physicist, said that life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep on moving. You lose balance once you stop. A person who holds the plough cannot maintain a straight furrow if he keeps on looking behind him. Likewise a believer who is heaven-bound will derail if he keeps looking back to the world. Life is a series of teething troubles and triumphs. The Lord permits certain negative occurrences in our lives not to destroy us but to develop us. Life's challenges build our spiritual muscles and make us stronger. God is more interested in our character than in our comfort and in making our lives holy rather than just making us happy. This He does by whatever He permits along life's road.

When life's journeys are filled with adversity, devastating setbacks, heartbreaking circumstances and failures, don't be intimidated and don't look back. Look unto Jesus. Are you winning in the race of life? The reactions of the crowd must not hinder you. Keep going! Focus on your goal of making heaven.

Challenge: "Remove all mirrors facing backward. No looking back."

Prayer: "Father, I pray that you help me to fix my gaze on reaching heaven."

Quote: "Focus on your goal of making heaven."

FROM TRAILING TO LEADING
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 28: 13A

"And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath" (Deuteronomy 28: 13a).

Jessica Cox was born without arms. In 2008, after extensive training, she earned her Light Sport Pilot Certificate. In 2011 she nabbed the Guinness World Record for the "First Armless Person in the World Ever to Have Obtained a Pilot's License." She became the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet. Cox soared to achieve a Sport Pilot certificate which qualifies her to fly a light-sport aircraft to altitudes of 10,000 feet. Born without arms, she has no problem flying a plane."

Whatever challenging experience you may be passing through presently in your life, others have faced more baffling ones and still they excelled. You have all it takes to get to the zenith. So, if you are living in the 'STREET-OF-REGRET', relocate today and start living in 'I-CAN-DO-IT' street. You are not a back bencher. Don't settle for anything less than God's best. Have faith in God because He will surely fulfill His promises. "Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." Those called are the born again souls; if you are one, you are destined for the top.

Challenge: "Disability is not inability; you are well able."

Prayer: "Father, I look up to you for your best in my life."

Quote: "You are not a back bencher."

GET THE BEST FROM GOD
TEXT: EPHESIANS 3:20

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20).

Once, a teenager asked a mother of three, "Why do you love your children?" Instantly, the mother replied, "Because they are mine." God loves you because you are His. On this premise, look boldly with hope and confidence to the future.

From today expect the best that God has for you. In your mind's eye, visualize the great Creator of the universe going before you and standing behind you. Let Him guide every step you take. God has a plan for you and is working out a miracle in the midst of your challenges to give you victory and joy.

Read this wonderful promise with me, "And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath" (Deuteronomy 28:13).

The Israelites missed God's best in the wilderness because of unbelief. Prayer of faith will get you the best from heaven's treasure store. As a child of God, obey His word, and as our text says, He will do more than you can ask or imagine.

Challenge: "He cares for you."

Prayer: "Almighty God, do for me according to your word, in Jesus'name."

Quote: "Expect the best that God has for you."

GOD GIVES NEEDED POWER
TEXT: ISAIAH 40 29

"He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength" (Isaiah 40 29).

A man was walking down a dimly lit street late one evening when he heard muffled screams coming from behind a clump of bushes. Alarmed, he slowed down to listen and panicked when he realized that what he was hearing were the unmistakable sounds of a struggling woman who was being attacked. He was frightened for his own safety but knew he had to act fast. He finally resolved he could not turn his back on the fate of this unknown woman, even if it meant risking his own life. Moral courage and physical strength came when he finally resolved to help the girl. He pulled the assailant off the woman and they wrestled for a few minutes until the attacker jumped up and escaped. Then he heard the words, uttered in wonder, "Dad, is that you?" from behind the tree, and out stepped his youngest daughter, Katherine."

Your attacker may be sin and Satan, trying to strangle you to death. Repent and surrender your life to Jesus now. He will rescue you from every assailant.

Challenge: "God will be with you in trouble and deliver you."

Prayer: "Lord give me power every moment to overcome."

Quote: "He will rescue you from every assailant."

GOD HEARS YOUR GROANINGS
TEXT: EXODUS 2:24

"And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob" (Exodus 2:24).

During World War II, a US marine (a trained soldier) was separated from his unit on a Pacific Island and lost touch with his comrades. The enemy soldiers were coming in his direction. Scrambling for cover, he quickly crawled inside one of the caves. He prayed, "Lord, if it be your will, please protect me. Then he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave. The spider layered strand after strand of web across the opening of the cave. From the darkness of his hideout he could see them searching one cave after another. After glancing in the direction of his cave, they moved on. Suddenly, he realized that with the spider web over the entrance, his cave looked as if no one had entered for quite a while. He said, "forgive me; I had forgotten that in you a spider's web is stronger than a brick wall."

He hears your groaning. He will not forsake His own and in His wonderful way, will work it out for you. Relax, God is in control.

Challenge: "God is still on the throne, He will never forsake His own."

Prayer: "Lord, intervene in my situation today."

Quote: "Relax, God is in control."

HEAR FROM HIM
TEXT: PSALM 85:8

"I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints: but let them not turn again to folly" (Psalm 85:8.).

To hear from God, our minds must not be crowded with the noise of the world around us. Hearing from God requires a deliberate choice to shut out the chaos around us and listen to Him. God shares deep secrets with His children as they spend time with Him. A. W. Tozar said, "Listen to the person who listens to God." People like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Elijah, Habakkuk, Peter and Paul, heard from God and became channels of blessing to others because they cultivated the presence of God. When we give God the first portion of our time of the day, He ensures that the rest of the day is most fruitful.

The Bible is one of the main tools by which God speaks. We hear Him speak to us as we read the Bible and meditate on the word. However, we must be ready to obey Him. People who are born again are able to obey God and enjoy this experience. Are you born again?

Challenge: "God speaks to His children and they hear Him."

Prayer: "Holy Father, give me the grace to hear from you."

Quote: "God shares deep secrets with His children."

KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL
TEXT: MALACHI 3:18

"Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not" (Malachi 3:18).

A man was in his cabin in the middle of a terrible snow storm when he heard a feeble scratching at his door. He opened it to see a half frozen rattle snake on his doorstep begging to be let in from the bitter cold. The man said, "I'm not going to let you in! You're a rattle snake and you're going to bite me!" "No I won't," hissed the snake. "Just bring me in and get me warm and I'll be your friend for life." The man let the snake come in and when the snake was completely comfortable it bit the man on the neck. As he was dying, the man said, "but you promised you wouldn't bite me and would be my friend for life." The snake calmly replied... "but you knew I was a snake when you let me in."

Sin bites like a snake. Its deadly effect is better imagined than experienced. Sin may appear innocent at first instance the repercussion is awful. Beware! No sin is friendly. Never tolerate sin. Shun sin in its entirety.

Challenge: "The wages of sin is death."

Prayer: "Lord, help me to discern the subtle nature of sin."

Quote: "Shun sin in its entirety."

PROVE GOD IN TITHING
TEXT: MALACHI 3:10

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing" (Malachi 3:10).

A tithe is 10% of your income. God demands our tithes for the administration of the church and propagation of the gospel. A lady testified to how the company she was working for closed down. The director called her and said that their operations in Cameroon were not going as planned so they would have to pay them off. When she was paid off, the first thing she did was to set aside the tithe before thinking of what to do. A few weeks later, the same director called her back. He said that although they were leaving the country, they would still maintain a presence in Cameroon. They laid off other staff but kept her to take charge of the office.

God's command on tithing is for all to obey irrespective of our status. If we are to enjoy the blessings of God in our lives as youth we too must obey in tithing, no matter how little it is. The Bible says, "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much" Tithe is an expression of faith toward God. Prove God and you will be blessed in your finances and other areas.

Challenge: "Obedience brings a blessing."

Prayer: "Lord, give me the grace to tithe."

Quote: "Tithe is an expression of faith toward God."

PUT BEHIND THE PAST
TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 3:13

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" (Philippians 3:13).

"We are products of the past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it," said Rick Warren. It is not bad to positively recall the past but brooding on the past offences, shame, hatred, cruelty, ignorance, failures and even successes, will drag you down. The more you talk about the past, rehash the past, worry about the past, the more it continues to hinder your progress. Don't be knotted to the good old days when better days are ahead. Don't let the past define and determine your future. Contemplation of the past success must not be allowed to interfere with future achievement. If yesterday's achievement is your preoccupation, you have done nothing today. We can make rapid progress in life's race only by looking forward rather than backward.

Two years have passed and you are still swimming in the shallow waters of your past salvation experience, yet some other youths have launched into the deep to gain the experiences of sanctification and Holy Ghost baptism. Like a bicycle rider, you must look forward and press on.

Challenge: "Don't live in yesterday."

Prayer: "Dear Father, help me to fix my gaze on a better future."

Quote: "You must look forward and press on."

STAND OUT AS SAINTS
TEXT: REVELATION 3:4

"Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy" (Revelation 3:4).

To stand out as a Christian, means you are positively different, peculiar or outstanding. Daniel in Babylon, had an excellent spirit that made him faultless. He was said to be, "faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him" (Daniel 6:4b). This was why the king appointed him first among the presidents and princes of Babylon. Our Christian life must reflect the words of this hymn's stanza:

"While passing thro' this world of sin, And others your life shall view, Be clean and pure without, within, Let others see Jesus in you".

A Christian is a Christian whether in Sardis, Paris, New York, Lagos or Dubai. Others may bow down to the gods of fashion, fame and financial success. But our resolution must be, "The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey." Sometimes, you may have to stand alone, but God will stand by you. Do not give up the Christ's nature in you even if people around you sting or stink.

Challenge: "Do not follow a multitude to do evil."

Prayer: "Dear Lord, help me never to lose my identity as a child of God."

Quote: "God will stand by you."

GOD HEALS
TEXT: PSALM 103.2-3

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thine diseases" (Psalm 103.2-3).

A man was riding along the road in his Ford car when it broke down. He could not see what was wrong. He flagged down another car, a big Lincoln, and asked for help. Out of the Lincoln stepped a tall man who asked what the problem was. "I can't get this Ford to move," the stranded motorist said. The stranger looked under the hood, made some adjustments, and then said, "Start the car." The man did and it started! He thanked the tall man, and said, "What's your name, sir?" He replied, "My name is Henry Ford." Henry Ford knew how to fix that Ford because he made it! The Almighty God made all human beings and being omnipotent and omniscient, He can heal us when we are sick. Prophet Jeremiah cried out, "Heal me O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise" (Jeremiah 17:14).

Our text says that God saves and heals our diseases. Call on Jehovah Sharma, who is present with us constantly to heal you and your loved ones.

Challenge: "Your maker knows how you feel."

Prayer: "Thank you God for being my Saviour and healer."

Quote: "He can heal us when we are sick."

TRANSLATED AND TRIUMPHANT
TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:1

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God" (Colossians 3:1).

A long time ago a farmer saw a nest, full of an eagle's eggs. He took one and when he got home, he put the egg together with the few chicken eggs in the yard. Some weeks later, from the egg emerged a fine, healthy eaglet. The eaglet grew up with its brother and sister chicks. It learned how to do all the things chickens do: it clucked and cackled, scratched in the dirt for grits and worms. It believed resolutely and absolutely that it was a chick. The eaglet which thought it was a chick looked up in the sky and saw an eagle! "By instinct, this eaglet perceived it was in a wrong place. It made two or three attempts to fly and realized that it could fly. Suddenly, it flew and joined the mother eagle in the sky where it belonged.

Believers don't belong to this world and must always set their affection on the things of Heaven. Although we have our feet on earth our heart is in heaven. We must not live as if we are of the earth. We are citizens of heaven.

Challenge: "Be heavenly minded"

Prayer: "Father, help me to be a reflection of Christ always."

Quote: "We are citizens of heaven."

WORSENING MORALS WORLD-WIDE
TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 3:1, 2

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy" (2 Timothy 3:1, 2).

Dr. Benjamin Spock advanced that children should not be spanked when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped, and their self-esteem damaged. His grandson eventually ended up committing suicide, reaping the fruit his grandfather had sown. Cane is forbidden in most schools and prohibited in many homes whereas the Bible says, "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." The resultant effect is wild and weird behaviours among youths.

This is the last time. Moral decadence has pervaded all strata of the society. There is no moral standard in society. The entertainment industry and modern technology promote profanity, violence and immoral practices. Magazines and novels that inflame passions encourage and elicit rape, drugs, violence, gangsterism, murder, suicide, and satanic themes litter everywhere. Be rapture ready always.

Challenge: "Examine yourself constantly; we are in the last days"

Prayer: "Lord, help me to maintain biblical standard of holiness."

Quote: "Be rapture ready always."

GOD IS A SURE HELP IN NEED
TEXT: PSALM 27:10

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me" (Psalm 27:10).

Young Elias was raised by his parents who did their best to give him a good education from the little farm proceeds which was barely enough for the family upkeep. As he returned from school one day he had an encounter with their city church minister which led to his salvation. He was full of joy as he hurried home to share his new found faith with his parents and siblings. However, on hearing the news, his father angrily told him, "I hope your God provides enough for us to pay for your qualifying examination and for the treatment of your sick mother?" Elias was unprepared for this kind of reaction. Daily, he stopped briefly by the church to pray for a miracle and learnt more about God. The minister heard him cry to God and quietly sent a doctor to take care of his mother and gave them some money. His mother got better daily and he learnt to trust God more.

God will take care of you too. Whatever you may be going through, do not give up your dreams and faith in Christ.

Challenge: "God still saves today"

Prayer: "Dear Father, help me to trust you in time of need."

Quote: "God will take care of you too."

GOD'S GUIDANCE
TEXT: PSALM 32:8

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye" (Psalm 32:8.).

The English Oxford Living Dictionary defines guidance as, "Advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty, especially as given by someone in authority." This reveals our need for direction and guidance in life to achieve good success. Knowing that information is key to avoiding pitfalls in life, we are rest assured that God will not leave or forsake those who rely on him. However, Madame Guyon detects a problem here. She says, "Many people want to direct God, instead of resigning themselves to be directed by Him; to show Him a way instead of passively following the way He leads."

Christian youths are daily faced with different kinds of challenges such as the need to make a choice of friends, school and subjects to offer, career, the church to attend and places to go to. These seemingly insignificant decisions go a long way in shaping our eventual future success or failure. We therefore need God's guidance. He alone knows what tomorrow holds.

Challenge: "God has the final say"

Prayer: "Guide me o thou great Jehovah."

Quote: "He alone knows what tomorrow holds."

GO ON SINNING? NOT ME
TEXT: ROMANS 6:13

"Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead" (Romans 6:13).

"The Bible teaches that when a person comes to Christ, a change takes place that is reflected in everything he does," says Billy Graham.
Christian youths who are on their way to heaven, must carefully avoid the lifestyle that accommodates and encourages sin. The careless and unbiblical assumption that when you are tempted and you fall, 'God understands' is not acceptable. Some even wrongly believe the 'once saved, forever saved,' or 'Christ lives in my heart and I can live in liberty' beliefs. These are pitfalls to be avoided by a child of God. We should see our salvation as an opportunity to shine for Christ just as a student granted admission into the institution of higher learning does not go on breaking school rules and regulations because he looks forward to the day of convocation,

So the youth will have to do away with anything or relationship that tempts him or her to go into sinful practices. All you need do in these perilous times is to obey God's word. Continuing in sin is not Jesus' child's way. Do not stain your white garment.

Challenge: "Say no to sin"

Prayer: "Help me Lord to diligently stand for Christ."

Quote: "Continuing in sin is not Jesus' kids' way."

TEN LILY-LIVERED SPIES
TEXT: NUMBERS 13:31

"But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we" (Numbers 13:31).

"Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears," says Les Brown. When the Children of Israel left the bondage of Egypt, there was great joy in their hearts that eventually they were going to the Promised Land which flowed with milk and honey as promised by God. However, as they were faced with challenges, they feared, complained and thought of going back to Egypt. Moses had sent twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan. However, the report of ten of the spies put fear in the heart of the people and killed their zeal to go forward. They said, "we are not able... we were in their sight as grasshoppers" and it was unto them according to their confession. Sadly, they could not inherit the Promised Land.

Their fear created a wall that shut them out forever but the other two spies with minority report of faith, Joshua and Caleb, conquered and entered the Promised Land. Today, we also must rise above fears and cowardice to achieve greatness. Strive to enter your heavenly Canaan

Challenge: "The spirit of fear is not of God"

Prayer: "O Lord, Give me the boldness of the righteous."

Quote: "Strive to enter your heavenly Canaan."

Great message, and it sounds easy, but have you ever been out there in the streets to see it done, have you witnessed on the street corners yelling out the gospel of Christ so people will hear you? Have you Evangelised around the neighbourhood, sharing with friends and family, have you ever seen what the latest news brings forward across the globe, the Word of God is now classed as discrimination, no-one tolerates discrimination in the schools, nor the work place, not even the public, haven't you heard, people are harassed and arrested by police over street preaching, charged with discrimination in a public place.
And Jesus did say we must obey the law of the land. {Romans 13:1-14}
Haven't you seen it, in some countries people are slaughtered, I can't see the rapture story coming our way very soon.
You ask what kind of messages do we send? I may ask, what sort of messages do you send to the people, didn't we just have a discussion about tithing.
I hope tithing won't be your message?

MESSIAH'S MESSAGE

TEXT: "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in thissinful generation..." (Mark 8: 38)

The world is overflowing today with technological breakthroughs, including telecommunications. As a result of this advancement, messages of various forms now fly across the globe at an alarming rate. The SMS, Twitter, E-Mail, Skype, Facebook, Whats-APP etc., are all modern means of sending all kind of messages. The youths of today are having a field day sending and receiving thousands of messages on a daily basis, using these media and appliances.

Are you involved in sending messages to your friends and acquaintances? The question is, 'what kind of messages do you send'? Do you know that you are a messenger of good news to your world? Has it ever occurred to you to say to someone, may be a schoolmate or an acquaintance that 'Jesus loves you'?" From today, you can also use the social media to spread the gospel to friends. As many doors are being slammed against street and 'door to door' evangelism, these may yet be your open doors. Preach the Word!

Challenge: "Determine to share the good news"

Prayer: "Father, help me to boldly declare your word."

Further Reading: Acts 5: 42

Quotation:: "Preach the Word!"

PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS
TEXT: 1 KINGS 18:43

"And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times" (1 Kings 18:43).

Triumph in life belongs to those who do not quit. Prophet Elijah knew he had to kneel continually in prayer until the answer came. He had given his word to King Ahab when there was yet no rain saying, "Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain," and there was no going back! He understood as Lily Tomlin puts it that, "The road to success is always under construction." He had to pray the rain down! Likewise, Christian youths need to pray their way through to success with focus and diligence. They must look up in faith and not allow distractions between them and their God-given goals. They must keep their goal in focus remembering that many scientific breakthroughs we enjoy today were possible because inventors like Thomas Edison, Graham Bell and recently, Mark Zuckerberg of the Facebook fame, did not give up.

Is there something in your life that you want God to do for you? It might be a spiritual need like sanctification, Holy Ghost baptism or the salvation of a loved one; just apply P.U.S.H (Pray until something happens).

Challenge: "God's help is on the way"

Prayer: "O God, strengthen my faith for every battle, in Jesus' name."

Quote: "Likewise, Christian youths need to pray."

DIVINE CALL: GOD'S PREROGATIVE
TEXT: MARK 3:13, 14

"And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach" (Mark 3:13, 14).

Unlike what obtains in politics among unbelievers, leadership positions among God's children are the sole decisions of the Almighty God, the owner of the vineyard. It is, therefore, out of place to struggle for positions of leadership among the brethren, whether in the school fellowship, or in the local church. The person chosen by God may not be the right one in your own eyes, but that is God's choice. He will give him the needed grace to do the work well. Keith Provance says, "Who God calls, He equips. Who He equips, He anoints to do the job."

When a leadership vacancy exists in the church or school fellowship, believers should prayerfully seek the face of the Lord for the most spiritually suitable candidate to take up that responsibility. No matter how desirous of serving the Lord you may be, do not take offence if you are not chosen.

Challenge: "Accept your leader"

Prayer: "Lord, take self from me."

Quote: "Do not take offence if you are not chosen."

As believers, the issue of Christian identity is crucial in our day to day life. We must allow others to see Christ in us in our words and actions.

We are the spiritual epistles that many would read. May the Jesus be seen in us in all we say and do. smiley
