THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2016 NO REDEFINITION “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” - Proverbs 30:5 The United States of America Supreme Court on Friday June 26, 2015 legalized gay marriage. In a reaction to this ruling evangelist Russell Moore said “the supreme court can do many things, but cannot get Jesus back in that tomb. Jesus of Nazareth is still alive.” Another Evangelist, Franklin Graham added that “long before our government came into existence; marriage was created by the One who created man and woman- Almighty God and his decisions are not for review and revision by any man-made court. God is clear about the definition of marriage in his holy word” (Genesis 2:24). Men’s approval of evil won’t change God’s law. Beware; we are in the end time. The Holy bible is written and older than any living persons. It has the final say in all things. Hold to the pure word of God and dare to defend it always, it cannot change. Blessed are all they who walk by the Holy word of God. Never get confused by modern day deviation from Gods word. Hold fast and obey till the end. Challenge: Immortal man cannot change nor wave the law of immortal God Prayer: Let my heart be fixed on your word oh Lord Quote: Hold fast and obey till the end Further Reading: 1 Kings12:26 - 33 |

Friday, February 26, 2016 COSTLY TIME “For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing” - Acts 17:21 Michael Leboeuf said “waste your money and you’re only out of money but waste your time and you’ve lost part of your life”. Time is equally given to every youth. No one gets too much or two little. Our text today describes the people who spend their time telling or hearing new things. Their lifestyle also negatively influenced strangers that came into their midst. They had no plan for their time and so time rolled past them without achieving something tangible in life. Paul could not be enticed to be like them but he used the opportunity to share the news of Jesus and God the Creator who they had not known. Youth who delight in gisting and jesting soon find that the day goes too fast that they fail to complete their homework. The school session soon rounds off with examination timetable out when they have not even gathered their complete notes for each subject. Your good use of time each day determines your success or failure in life. Challenge: Plan your time and your life is planned Prayer: Lord, this day I separate myself from time wasters Quote: Share the news of Jesus Further Reading: Luke 21:34 - 38 |

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2016 PRAISE AND SALVATION “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God” - Psalm 50:23 Godly praise is one neglected weapon among many young people. They delight in meaningless songs and unedifying music. Biblical songs, music and dance must be centered on the glory of God. The songs of Moses; Mariam and the women of Israel after crossing the Red Sea; and Paul and Silas in Philippian jail point to the purpose of praise. Praise brings down the power of God. It edifies the saints and can be as messages even to the sinners. However it is not all praise singers that are acceptable to God. Our text talks about those who order “their conversations alright,” who have not yielded their mouth to evil words. They are saved from sin and yield their thoughts and tongues to godliness. Sharing testimonies of what God has done for us is another way of praising God. Do not forget to praise Him for His provision, protection, preservation, power and promotion. Our God is worthy of our praises at all times. Challenge: Edify yourself and peers with godly praise Prayer: I will praise you my God and maker Quote: Our God is worthy Further Reading: Revelation 5:9 - 14 |

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2016 WHEN YE FAST “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward” - Matthew 6:16 Fasting while giving adequate time for prayer is taught by Jesus Christ. In His earthly ministry, Jesus also demonstrated the power of prayers backed by fasting (Matthew 17:20-21). There is increased faith by holy youth who fast to undo the impossible. Those who fast and pray must be free from sin. However, when you fast do not publicise it but spend quality time to pray for your heart desires. Through it you have power to overcome the wicked one, cast out devils and heal the sick. Regulate your fast so that you don’t endanger your health. Set your goals before you start a fast and praying programme. Fasting and praying exercise can be declared by nations, town leaders, church or family. It is good to participate prayerfully. The prompt answers to the fasting and prayer by Jehoshaphat, Ezra, Daniel, and the early church should encourage you to fast and pray. Challenge: When you fast, be sure you pray in faith Prayer: Give me grace to fast Lord when necessary Quote: Be free from defilement and sin Further Reading: Ezra 8:21 – 23; Acts 13:2 - 4 |

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2016 YOUR MARKING SCHEME “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day” - Genesis 1:31 A scheme is a set plan of work which usually follows in stages. The teacher after setting questions also sets a marking scheme to assess the students who answer these questions. It prevents partiality as it guides every bit of the marks awarded. Our text declared all that God made to be very good. Throughout the chapter God assessed his work before adding new ones. You should be able to challenge yourself with past questions and new questions to know what is expected of you based on the syllabus of the subject. See that you know the basics before seeking to learn the complex. Learn theories and hypothesis before practical applications. Also evaluate your spiritual state whether you are growing or stagnant. Remember that God is the author of all knowledge. Trust him to help you. Pray before and after every study. He shall never fail you. Keep on the holy tracks because our redeemer is near at hand. Challenge: Learn from the known to the unknown Prayer: Give me wisdom to do personal assessment Quote: Evaluate your spiritual state Further Reading: Psalm 119:97 - 102 |

TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2016 GOSPEL ADDICTION “I beseech you, brethren, - ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints” - 1 Corinthians 16:15 Youths have peculiar addictions to things that do not count for eternity. David the psalmist speaks of his zeal for the things of God and his church. He was a gospel author, writer, praise singer and an instrumentalist yet he never lost in any battle of the lord. Many youths do not show interest in the things of God and his church. They find occupation in mundane things such as jesting, playing and watching games. Are you like that? How much do you care about things that glorify God? Every saved boy or girl is called to duty of spreading the gospel. Neglecting it is disobedience. To be careless with the truth is to be guilty of the blood of sinners. To play away the time instead of using it for purposeful preaching is to despise the master’s mission on earth. Like the master, the apostles never delayed to spread the good news of God’s kingdom. Preach in love to the dying world. Challenge: Have you shared the gospel with someone this week? Prayer: Teach me to serve you more and more Quote: Preach in love Further Reading: Psalm 69:7 - 14 |

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 2016 BEAUTY AND VIRTUE “And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she kept them” - Genesis 29:9 Rachel was a pretty girl who kept her father’s sheep. She did not allow her beauty to obsess her. She engaged in virtuous services in the family and she was well known for that in her community. Today many pretty young persons neglect virtue for crime and immoral lifestyle. They dance nude, participate in films and adverts that project drug abuse, gun trotting businesses and destroy the societal morality with their God-given beauty. They soon fade away with age. God is against those who use their gifts for evil. He promised to judge “all such as are clothed with strange apparel” (Zephaniah 1:. Christian youths must avoid watching videos of these strange boys and girls who influence their world with immorality and crime. God is watching you. There is a lot you can do. Support you parents’ trade. Do the domestic chores and learn a vocation. That is a worthy step. Challenge: No profit in things that fade Prayer: Deliver me from pride and compromise Quote: God is watching you Further Reading: Genesis 29:16-20; proverbs |

FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2016 FACE YOUR FUTURE “Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee” - Proverb 4:25 A man driving his family on a long journey was once asked by his son why he glued his eyes on the road and seemed to be impassive about the exciting scenes they passed through. ‘I’m on the driver’s seat and the fate of the entire family depends on my ability to focus. If we must get to our destination, then I must keep focus.’ Joseph, Nehemiah, Ezra, Daniel and few other youths in Bible times seemed to understand early in life that they were in the driver’s seat and that the fate of a nation rested on their shoulders. They, therefore, decided to keep focus and face the future without being detracted by mundane things of this world. Some youths allow themselves to be detracted because many young boys and girls did not see themselves as the future solution of the predicament in their homes and community. Stay focused because, not only your future, but that of uncountable others depend on you. Challenge: Face the future with a focused mindset Prayer: Help me, Lord, to stay focus Quote: Stay focused Further Reading: Nehemiah 6: 1 - 4 |

SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2016 HOPE FOR DUMMIES “The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot” - Proverbs 10:7 A man once brought his children to a man of God after a church service and asked them to have a handshake with him. Without saying anything else, he thanked the Pastor and told him he would come back to testify. Meanwhile, he had been advised to withdraw his son from school because of his continual woeful performance. The man went back to the school, begged the school not only to give the boy another chance, but allow him proceed to the next class. At the end of the term, none of the children came below 5th position! There is no hopeless case before God. Have you been tagged a hopeless, irredeemable dummy? Are you currently facing challenges in any subject or course? The God of Daniel is still alive. Don’t give up. Pray. Have faith in God. Explore your untapped potentials. Surely, there is hope. God is the maker of your brain, if there is need, he can carry out a Turn Around Maintenance. Challenge: God is the maker of your brain Prayer: Lord, let my memory witness a divine turn around maintenance Quote: Don’t give up Further Reading: Psalm 75:6, 7 |

HALT THAT HABIT “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof” - Romans 6:12 ‘Devil, if you are as powerful as you made me believe, push me inside now!’ That was the climax of the long drawn battle between a young church member and the devil. The young man had confessed to his pastor how the devil had been ‘pushing’ him against his will to patronise prostitutes. The pastor smiled and told him that anytime ‘the mighty devil’ came to bundle him again, he should follow him to the front of the brothel, stop, close his eyes and ask the devil to push him in. Surprisingly, after waiting for some minutes, he opened his eyes and found himself, not in the prostitute’s bosom, but where he stopped. So, the devil is not as strong as he had claimed. Are you under any evil habit and influence - immorality, lust, drug addiction, alcohol, smoking, betting, gambling, anger, etc? The devil behind these evil habits is as powerful as you allow him. With positive action enlivened by grace, you can halt that negative habit before it halts you. Challenge: You can halt that habit before it halts you. Prayer: Lord, give me victory over evil habits. Quote: Halt that negative habit Further Reading: Colossians 3:1 - 10 |

HORROR OF HELL “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name’ - Revelation 14:11 A young Christian once preached to her bunk mate about the horror of hell. The girl looked at her face and responded sarcastically, “I have made up my mind to have my cup of sin overflowing so that God will be so angry with me and fling me beyond the lake of fire”. As the girl was sleeping that same night, she dreamt and found herself on the 4th floor of a burning building. She was making a frantic effort to escape with others caught in the inferno. Her terrifying scream woke all her roommates. It was chilling cold in the room, yet she was soaked in her sweat and breathing very fast. Though her body was in a chilling cold room, her body could feel the heat of the fire in her dream. Don’t be deceived, heaven and hell are real, and only those who are genuinely saved will be qualified to enter heaven. Those who die in sin shall find themselves in hell, where they will burn in the lake of fire with Satan eternally. Challenge: Where will you spend eternity? Prayer: Lord, help me to escape hell Quote: Heaven and hell are real Further Reading: Revelation 20: 10-15 |

TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2016 LOOK AND LIVE “And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live” - Numbers 21:8 An old man once met a young boy struggling to remove his hooked hand in a jar. The old man tried to help him out but to no avail. He noticed his clenched fist and advised him to unclench it. He replied, ‘Old man, my only coin is in that fist and if I unclench it, the coin will fall.’ ‘No other way to help you,’ the old man retorted and left him. Our text reveals God’s simple solution to the problem of every man dying as a result of the poison of sin, self and Satan—look and live! Yet, many still died of the plague. Is it not equally surprising today that many youth still die in their sins, yet Christ has been lifted for their salvation? If you look and are not yet saved, it is because of the cherished coin in your hand. Let go and let God today. Challenge: Behold the Lamb of God! Prayer: Lord, I surrender all today as I look to the Lamb for salvation Quote: Christ has been lifted for their salvation Further Reading: John 3:13-16 |

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9, 2016 MORNING MEAL “And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted” - Exodus 16:21 Researchers are daily coming out with amazing facts on the benefits of morning meal. It provides body and brain with fuel after an overnight of fast. Eating breakfast regularly can reduce obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. It helps in terms of fitness, affects the mind, better problem solving skill and increased mental clarity. It is important for everyone, but especially for children and adolescent. Nutritionists suggest that breakfast should be eaten within two hours of waking. Is it not surprising then that many people daily sacrifice their breakfast? The word of God is pictured as food. Jeremiah said, “Thy words were found and I did eat them”. Job esteemed God’s words more than necessary meal. Our text shows us the right time to gather the bread, morning. Do you want to live a spiritually healthy, vibrant and victorious life? Then, rise early to gather and feed on the manna of the word daily. Challenge: Breakfast like a king Prayer: Lord, give me, this day, the sustaining bread of life Quote: Feed on the word daily Further Reading: Job23:12; Jeremiah 15:16 |

THURSDAY, MARCH 10, 2016 POWER OF THE TONGUE “Death and life is in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” - Proverb 18:21 Shirly Show’s poem clearly portrays the power of the tongue thus: Be careful what you say and how you say it to others ‘cause the tongue has a way, of making one’s heart flutter. It also causes much mass-confusion, with just a simple utter. Or in a roundabout way, the tongue can be a complete- cutter. The tongue can be used for good, or bad. But remember, once it’s spoken, it could be all too sad... It can lead to the winning or loss of friends, So just be careful what power you allow it to use. You need to know that little words from the tongue can cut so deep as to cause deep hurt, sorrow, sadness, great pain and agony to yourself and to others. Therefore, watch and weigh those little words of yours today. Resolve to plant only words that will bring joy and gladness to your world and others. Challenge: Watch and weigh those little words today Prayer: God, set a watch over my mouth Quote: Plant words that will bring joy Further Reading: James 3:5-13 |

FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2016 REFRESHING WATER “But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water there out…” - Judges 15:19a) Have you ever pause and thought on the importance of water in your body? Your brain contains 74.8% of water; blood 83%; heart 79.2%; muscle 75.6%; skin 72% and bone 22%. Water helps to remove body waste; regulates body temperature; lubricates joints; serves as transporter and protector. A 1% reduction of your water level causes thirst; 5% leads to loss of muscle strength, decline in endurance, hotness and tiredness; 10% loss can cause delirium and blurred vision while 20% loss results in death. Jesus promised His followers living water and Apostle Paul refers to the sanctifying water as the word of God. As you consider the importance of natural water in the body, you need to equally consider the place of the water of the word in your spiritual life. What is your daily intake of the word of God and how regular is it? Remember, water is life. Challenge: Consider the place of the water of the word Prayer: Lord, give me this water that I thirst not Quote: Water is life Further Reading: John 4:10-15 |

SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2016 SWITCH TO SUCCESS “So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work” - Nehemiah 4:6 A young boy once scored 59% in promotion examination to Form III and wept bitterly as if he just lost his parents. The same boy scored 12% in the same Mathematics examination in first term of Form III and was laughing as if he had just won a jackpot. This woeful trend continued until promotion to Form V when he was the only student in the art class that had credit in Mathematics. After marking his paper, his Indian Class Mathematics teacher exclaimed: ‘This is a miracle!’ This true life story shows that success as well as failure has a switch button. What happened to the boy between Form II and III is a switch. He joined and associated with friends whose thoughts, actions and ideas responded to and celebrated failure. Unknown to his teacher, the boy had made another switch to dissociate from friends, ideas and actions that celebrated mediocrity. Success switch is in the mind, you too can switch your mindset to success today; and whether people believe in you or not, they will be forced to celebrate you. Challenge: Dissociate from friends that celebrate mediocrity Prayer: Deliver me from thoughts and actions that promote failure Quote: Switch your mindset to success Further Reading: Ezra 7:10 |

SUNDAY, MARCH 13, 2016 TAMAR’S TEARS “And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying” - II Samuel 13:19) An argument once ensued between two teenagers on who was wiser. The younger told the elder that he could entice her till she got her finger burnt in a furnace. ‘You are too young and immature for that,’ boasted the elder sister. Few days later, the boy brought a fresh corn and promised the sister half of the cob if she could roast it in the big oven of the local bakery. As she was roasting the corn, behold the manager! She grabbed the corn to escape unnoticed. Alas! The deed had been done. She got not only her fingers, but her feet badly burnt. What a trap! Tamar’s tears in our text were as a result of lack of discretion. She lost her seal of originality. Are you discrete in all your doings? Do you put a limit to the extent a friend or close associate can go with you? Remember, discretion is the best part of courage. Challenge: Look beyond the bait before taking a bite Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see beyond the bait Quote: Discretion is the best part of courage Further Reading: II Samuel 13: 6 - 14 |

MONDAY, MARCH 14, 2016 SLEEPING GIANT “And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him” - Judges 16:19 Great leaders all over the ages know the implication of waking up the sleeping giant. Admiral Isoroku Yamamotu after leading an attack on his enemy was once quoted “I fear all we have done is to awake a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Napoleon Bonaparte once declared “China is a sleeping giant. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she would move the world’ while L. Ravenhill questioned “Is not the church the sleeping giant today?” “Sh-sh-sh…’ can you hear the devil whispering to his army, “let the victorious youth of this generation sleep in pleasure, for if they wake up they will disturb us.” How is the devil seeing you? Yes, of course, as a sleeping giant. How long will you continue to sleep and slumber? Wake up from your spiritual slumber today. Even the devil knows, if you do, you would move the world. Challenge: Only wakened giants can move their world Prayer: Keep me from spiritual slumber, Lord. Quote: Wake up from your spiritual slumber Further Reading: Isaiah 52:1 - 5 |

TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2016 TOILING TIME “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” - Ecclesiastes 3:1 Great champions in the race of life have generally come to understand that gold medals are not actually made of gold. One of them, Gable, observed that ‘gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.’ A dream will never become a reality through magic. It will take real sweat, determination and hard work. Many youths treasure leisure and pleasure when they ought to be toiling and travailing to bring forth their vision. Such youths never understand that the vision of every champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking. If you want to be among the celebrated champions of tomorrow, you must detach yourself from the company of youth who sweat the petty things and pet the sweat things. Remember Jesus’ admonition to toil while it is day, the night cometh when no man can work. Today is the only currency you have, invest it well, don’t spend it anyhow. Challenge: Invest today, don’t spend it carelessly Prayer: Help me Lord to toil when it is day Quote: Toil while it is day Further Reading: Proverb 22:29 |

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2016 COMPELLING CONVICTION “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” - Acts 4:20 When the two Wright brothers were fully convinced that they could make an aeroplane, there was no stopping them. A New York Times editorial on December 10, 1903 mocked their wisdom of trying to invent and fly an object heavier than air. However, a week later they made the first powered flight at Kitty Hawk. Apart from the influence of the Holy Spirit in the early church, compelling conviction was one of the motivating factor in the believers’ stand for Christ and exploits in the early church work. A compelling conviction is a necessity for developing and achieving goals. As a Christian, you must have a compelling conviction about Christ that can see you through the tough moral, social and technological challenges in the world today. Apostles Peter, Paul and John as well as Martin Luther, of the reformation era, overcame the enemies of the Church through their deep conviction in God’s Word. You too need it today! Challenge: Lack of deep conviction is a channel to an endless drift Prayer: Lord, help me to overcome the tough challenges I am facing Quote: Stand for Christ Further Reading: Luke 9:62 |

THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2016 PERFECT EVANGELIST “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” - Acts 10:38 In his book, Evangelism by Fire, Reinhard Bonnnke says, “I cry to God day and night for greater effectiveness in winning our generation for Him.” Notable evangelists in Bible times include: Philip, Peter, Paul, Apollos and Barnabas. The only perfect evangelist however is Christ. He came to seek and to save that which was lost; He declared, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Jesus preached and healed in homes, in the synagogues, wilderness, at sea sides, roadsides and on the mountains. He preached to large crowds and to few people. Jesus was the Perfect Pioneer Evangelist who mentored others to carry on the work. Christians should follow the example of Christ, who can make us successful fishers of men. We need to live holily, watchfully and, prayerfully to bring in the souls. Challenge: Preaching the Gospel is medicine to a sick soul Prayer: O Lord, teach me to preach Your word always Quote: Follow the example of Christ Further Reading: Mark 16:15, 16 |

FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2016 SURF YOUR HORIZON “And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever” - Genesis 13: 14,15 It takes diligence to surf ones horizon to know what necessary things are available to do for progress in life. According to Watchman Nee in his book, The Character of the Lord’s Worker, “A diligent person is never idle; he is always looking for things to do. He is always pondering, praying, contemplating, and considering before God as to what he should do.” God made Abram to view his horizon to know what belonged to him. Look beyond your immediate environment; the world is a global village today through the use of the radio, TV, GSM, Internet and the print media. With them, you can soar high like the eagle and see what the average people cannot see. Remember, knowledge is potential power. Get it, use it prayerfully and power is yours. SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2016 STICKY- FINGERERED “Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another” - Leviticus 19: 11 Dave (not real name) was a little boy from one of the states in Nigeria, and was sticky-fingered. He habitually stole money at home which he used to buy things at school and in neighbourhood shops. He was very smart at picking money and hiding it away in his shoes, school books or under pants. Dave also covered up with lies when caught. It took a lot of effort to get this intelligent boy out of the bad habit. He eventually studied medicine and became a committed and respectable practising medical doctor in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, not all sticky- fingered or light- fingered young people overcome the habit and grow into a responsible adult life. Some become corrupt public officials, internet fraudsters or armed robbers with serious consequences. Stealing is a learned habit and can be unlearned if one is determined. Moreover, Jesus can save the sticky -fingered as He saved Zaccheus, the fraudster. Repent now! Challenge: The best way to stop a bad habit is never to begin it Prayer: O Father, grant me the grace to shun disgraceful act Quote: Jesus can save the sticky-fingered Further Reading: Ephesians 4:28 |

SUNDAY, MARCH 20, 2016 SYMPATHETIC SAMARITAN “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion on him” - Luke 10: 32 According to John Wooden, “You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.” The story was told of a boy who was drowning in a river. He cried for help and a man who was passing by jumped in the river and rescued him. In gratitude, the boy thanked him but the man said, “For what?” The boy was said to have replied, “For saving my life.” Looking into the boy’s eyes, the man told him, “Son, make sure when you grow up that your life was worth saving.” The man was not interested in personal reward but what the boy would do with his saved life. The Good Samaritan in our text was only concerned about the welfare of the wounded man and sacrificed for it. We, as God’s children should be sympathetic. If you are saved, then live for Christ daily to prove that your life was worth saving. Challenge: God’s children should be sympathetic Prayer: Lord, give me a sympathetic heart Quote: Live for Christ daily Further Reading: Luke10:30 - 37 |

MONDAY, MARCH 21, 2016 CALVARY IN VIEW “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left” - Luke 23:33 Calvary has come to symbolize suffering in Christendom. Christ’s agony and death on the cross of Calvary will ever remain a reference point for all committed Christians. We should however not look at Calvary with fear as it led to Christ’s glorification. According to Warren Wiersbe, ”Calvary is God’s great proof that suffering in the will of God always leads to glory.” As we run the Christian race, we should be conscious of Calvary, no matter our condition. In joy or in pain, keep Calvary in view. If your life’s pendulum swings to suffering, remember Calvary. If it swings to pleasure, still remember Calvary. The Devil can wage war against a believer with either tool. Hence, we should be, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross” (Hebrews12:2). Challenge: There are no gains without pains Prayer: Let the devil’s war against me be in vain, O Lord Quote: Remember Calvary Further Reading: Hebrews 12:1 - 3 |

TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 2016 PARADISE POSSESSED “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them...” - Revelation21:3 John Milton in his epic poem, Paradise Lost (1667) , graphically described how the fallen Lucifer found his way into the Garden of Eden and outsmarted “puny” Eve and Adam, bringing about the fall of man and consequently, loss of Paradise. However, Jesus Christ, the last Adam came, and restored to mankind the lost estate. “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 5: 21). If you have Jesus, you have eternal life and surely a mansion in God’s kingdom. It is Paradise repossessed and much more. One of the malefactors crucified alongside Jesus told Him to remember him in His kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). You can regain all you have lost: health, wealth, purity, power or position. Tell Jesus! Challenge: Paradise is for pure hearts and clean hands Prayer: Help me, O Lord, to regain all that I have lost in life Quote: You can regain all you have lost Further Reading: Revelation 21:1 - 7 |

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016 PRICE OF PEARL Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it” - Matthew 13: 45, 46 A pearl is a gem or precious stone cut and polished for use as jewelry or decoration. It is somebody or something highly valued or esteemed. Some parents name their children Pearl because they regard them so dear to their hearts. The kingdom of God is more precious than anything we can imagine and we should do all we can to enter. A young man was once invited to a Christian fellowship by a colleague. The preacher preached a great message that could lead any sinner to repentance. As they went home at close of meeting, the colleague asked his invitee of his impression of the message and his reply was, “He is a fine speaker.” Oratory was his concern and not how to gain eternal life. It was some years later that he got born again in the university. How precious is God’s Kingdom to you? Challenge: The kingdom of God is more precious than anything Prayer: O God, help me to make your Kingdom Quote: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God Further Reading: Matthew 6:33 |

THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2016 UNSOILED GARMENT “Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake before those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garment from him…” - Zechariah 3: 3, 4a) God wants every child of His to have clean hands and a pure heart (Psalm 24: 3, 4). This means that we should be clean within and without-no impure thoughts and motives or sinful acts. These are the people that have unsoiled garments or white linen, who can have easy access to God’s presence. A hymn writer puts it this way: “Called unto holiness, children of light, Walking with Jesus in garments of white; Raiment unsullied nor tarnished with sin, God’s Holy Spirit abiding within.” This is a glorious experience which we can get only by a cleansing in the blood of Jesus. A Christian who goes into sin has soiled garments. That was why the filthy garments of the high priest, Joshua, had to be taken away from him to enjoy the Divine presence. Ensure you are saved and take time to be holy. Challenge: No fellowship with God in soiled garments Prayer: Help me Lord to stay holy Quote: Take time to be holy Further Reading: Isaiah 6:1 - 8 |

FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2016 NEVER LOOK BACK “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” - Luke 9: 62 Lot’s wife looked back and she turned into a pillar of salt. John Mark would not have been rejected by Apostle Paul from going on the second missionary journey if he had not turned back from the work earlier at Pamphylia (Genesis 19: 16, 17, 26; Acts 15: 36-40). Often, looking back hinders progress, because; it shows hesitation, lack of focus or commitment. Jesus’ example is worthy of emulation: “And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9: 51). Looking back can be physical or mental. Looking back mentally is called retrospection. It is the act of reflecting on past events, whether good or bad. If you always bask in your past successes or entertain fears due to past failures, you may not make progress. Trust God and press on. Challenge: He who does not look ahead stays behind Prayer: O God, give me grace to press forward Quote: Trust God and press on Further Reading: Philippians 3: 12 - 14 |

Fongido:Are all these for me? But you failed to connect this sweed post, while concluding it, to mine. Whether or not you like my post. You see, it is not as if I do not like or I do not wish Nigerians good life but the fact is that at the moment, no day passess without you either reading highly tribalised releases from Buhari or written material that has to do with clear look down or openly undermining others. It was not so pronounced as it was. GEJ is never a Saint, but he managed, esepcially the tribal and religious side of this country to the bearest level. But what do you see to day? Buhari will even ask you to face, what can you do? All his ways are full of questions that tend to degrade others. Even if he a Fulani man, in todays world, we are expected to take things easy. No matter how powerful you are. As at today not hause man passes the ibo, the ijaw etc without cleverly looking back with very big suspection, vice vasa. Now, tell me why on earth do any one want us together as one country when it is no longer sweet. The hauses has become so powerful, maybe becuase Buhari is in power, forcefully take girls from other regions and tell you to face what can you? Anyway, time shall tell. We will go our different ways. |
