It's called TIME MANAGEMENT. Same reason some people read and still fail.

After the 4 weeks of walking round the hospital in the name of CLS 1, PathPharm officially started. Well, one major difference between this and my 300 level days is that, this class is more of a sprint than a marathon. Its just 26 weeks, so one has to start running early.

For the courses, well, I immediately fell in love with Hematology. Why? I am not sure I know. Probably it has a lot of foundation in the knowledge of Physiology or probably I love blood (Vampire style)...hehehe.

I felt normal about Chemical Pathology. I felt too confident on Medical MCB (I'm a MCB graduate remember). And Histo Path is bulky. More like a challenge (I like the chase).

Pharmacology is dope. But its too volatile. You read a paragraph and you forget in a minute. Urrggggh. Anyways I have got no option than to read this course like no tomorrow

Why do I have to read Pharmacology that much? Well because it accounts for half of my MB result. The other 4 courses accounts for the other half.

Hence, the PathPharm class is a class for being smart. Funny thing is Histo Path is about 2-3 times bulkier than Pharmacology and people tend to read it more than others. But the reality is Histo Path makes up just 25% of possible scores possible to be acquired in PATHOLOGY. So in the best case scenario, you score 20 of the 25 and neglect the other 3 courses in Pathology; that's failure. It gets worse when Pharmacology is neglected. That 100% on its own.

The clue is: In this class, you have to get on your mojo early and fast. And be smart. Very smart.

Lectures started and they moved as fast as a train. Did I say train? Delete that. They moved faster than light. God!!! I lost control of my time. Morning? Class. Afternoon? Class. Evening? Labs. Night? Confused.

People who had been following me for a while will remember I hate reading during the midnight. I frigging hate it. But how do I survive this class with that ethos. I come back from school around 6pm or later. Definitely I have to sleep for 2 hours or so. So what do I cover between 8 and 11pm. Things have to change. Things definitely have to change.

And football? How do I play football? God, I miss those sweet Anatomy days. And my weekends!!!! EPL was blowing hot, even tho' my beloved Arsenal were already in a rotten form. I'm going to miss my EPL so badly.

Okay, this class is hell. Hell!!!! No time to breath. Lecturers drop slides like its hot (lyrical wink ). 100 pages, 150 pages, 200 pages. Just name it. Sighs. 26 weeks people. 26 weeks. Cos this class no be beans mehn. Especially those Histopath, even Chem Path. In short, all of them. They just dump everything on us, like we are sponges. Soaking sponges. Sighs.

Okay enough with the rant. Phew!!!! One thing is true tho. PathPharm is a crazy class.

Drawing board

* Well, I have to be smart (No kidding).

* I have to compromise a little on my tight rule of no midnight reading. I eventually settled on 8 - 2/3pm.

* No more video games for the next 13 weeks (end of Block 1).

*No more evening football....(sad)

*Whole weekend is for jacking (reading). Whole!!! Well maybe except Sunday mornings. Sighs.

* Read as crazy.

* Am i permitted to breath tho? Cos seems like this class is taking everything away (think Gollum in Lord of the Rings: My precious, My precious!!!!). LOL.

However, I chosed medicine. I have to give it my all. No backing out.

Medical Microbiology.

On the exam date, i did made some petty mistakes that i felt were too cheap to make. Was it overconfidence? I hope not. Anyways when leaving the exam, I believed I got 42 right, 6 unsure, 2 unaswered out of 50. So at least i was expecting 40 after negative marking. Then i got home and started cross checking my notes and text. Boom!!! See cheap mistakes. To say i was sad is an understatement. My strong point has always been my ability to keep cool under pressure and thus rule out simple mistake. Anyways the result came and got 37.6. I was ambivalent about it. 3rd best or so in the class but way below my target of 45. Well moving on.

Histopathology

Well, I like this course, but its too voluminous. I was very prepared for it but I couldnt cover it all. I had to leave out some topics under Neoplasm. Not the best of ideas but i was out of options. Such mistakes shlould be best avoided in my Block 2.

On the exam day, i felt confident; yeah. Went in, few questions were asked on Neoplasm which i left some unanswered. There were 50 stem MCQs. I must av answered at least 230 of the 250 branch questions. Well my target before the exam was 75%. After the exam i dropped it to 70%. So you guys can guess how suprised i was to see 74.2% [extremely close to my target and the 2nd highest in the class]. One of these days, I shld try and top the class. Lol. Anyways thats not important. Whats important is reaching my set targets.
