Pls house I need your advice on this
I have #300k with Stanbic MMF which gives me #149-#150 per day. My questions
-should I continue with the MMF or
-redeem it and put it in Treasury bill since I don't need it in the next 6months. Thanks

So many believe there are no genuine site that can payout to our local account for reading and viewing ads..

The truth is that, there are still good ones out there.

This isn't a ponzi platform. You are not expected to invest anything except your time.

Thank me later.

Am concerned that every asset firm is floating there own money market fund,
why am I concerned?

I will tell you.
Remember the era when the stock market was booming, many asset firms had equity based funds and they all did well till the crash of the stock market, what do you think would happen if CBN crash rates of treasury bills and MPR to lets say 6%?
your guess is as good as mine.
Our fund managers are lazy, they seek for comfort instead of opportunity.
why cant we have a real estate based fund? it could even be a hedge fund.
To me a Real estate based fund has huge potential the only down side is that it may not be very liquid but if properly managed could offer returns as high as 25%.

My thoughts

You're right. A system with so much money chasing few products is not ideal. Who will prevent a scenario where money from Zenith's Equity Fund is used to buy up shares of Zenith Bank (thereby inflating the price). Like you said, what we need are more unique products that are available to retail investors. ETFs are the rave on Wall Street, yet we have very few here. We should be able to buy a part of a fund that invests solely in Eurobonds not mixing it with the bonds of Gombe state.

On another matter, I believe we already have real estate funds. Is that what REITS are? i.e Skye Shelter Fund and UPDC REIT. (cc: feelamong, emmanuelewumi) I stand corrected if I'm wrong. I think the problem with REITS is that the real estate market in Nigeria is not vibrant. There aren't enough products because the market is not regulated. I tried to get a bit of Afriland recently, but to no avail.

Guys in thinking short term (about 60days or so) which direction should i be looking to invest a fund that i don't quite need for now.
T-bilss vs MMF vs Fixed deposit (good rate)

Fixed Deposit: So far from my little research renmoney could do 20%p.a. on 10m, this will fetch me about 313k in 60days. I don't know if other institutions will beat that but that profit of 313k will form my minimum/base for comparison.

So my question to the experts in the house is: Can i do better than that with T-bills or MMF given the short tenure? If yes, how?

Note: I am definitely liquidating at the end of the 60-70days tenure to utilise the funds.I need to make a decision quickly and push the funds out.

Thanks a lot

Be very wary of firms or wonder Investment houses that offer rates that look too good to be true. Do your due diligence on them very very Well Sir, to avoid stories that touch! With your kind of money to be invested, shop around for banks and branches, that can give you very good rates for treasury bills in the secondary market. Regards

Ill rather go to Bank than any other private Investment House that offer rates that look too good to be true cheesy

Same with mine. Also I noticed on my mutual funds account that there was no quarterly roll-over, as had been the case previously.

Plz.house I would like to invest in Stanbic MMF. From my research I understand the holding period is for 90 days. However, can I keep adding more capital to my initial investment before the expiration if the 90 day period?

The holding period is 30 days not 90, you can start redeeming(withdrawing) after the holding period without any penalties and you could also top up your initial investment anytime.

Hello my people. What could be the problem ?. I registered for Stanbic MMF on Sep 12. As at yesterday, my accumulated profit was 7579 but after checking this morning I am only seeing 1191 as my total profit. Even as at that yesterday, like 2 days earnings were not added. Why are all these things happening ?

I just spoke to their customer service agent. I was told that the sept quarterly payment was just activated yesterday. The transfer of 7k plus has already been initiated to my bank account. The quaterly payment system is not based on 3 3 months after your registration but fixed quarterly calendar for everybody (Jan-March, April-June, July-Sep and Oct-Dec). I was also told that 10 -10% tax will be charged for quarterly earnings.
Re: Mutual Funds by Mup4life: 2:54pm On Oct 04, 2017
I was informed by stanbicibtc mmf customer care , that henceforth, compounding would be done daily rather than the usual quaterly compounding. Any body heard or know about this?
