The cost of doing business in SA is also high particularly for wages and salaries. Plus, a lot of buildings in SA are also constructed with bricks not made from Cement. He has to invest a lot of money to set that company on the path of profitability. I think they didn't do enough initial market research before announcing their interest. I would prefer he focuses on his refinery and petrochemical plant and deliver that one first.

I feel pity for those traders and investors that may have heavily bought the shears of ppc cement SA hoping that the dangote deal will go through so they may end up making huge return on equity invested. Now that the deal is of the table the shear price of ppc will be down some nice percentage points. Traders and investors will be in serious pain by now. Lolzzzz.. that's the beauty of the financial markets..

You are correct, Dangote cement is huge and currently doing Business in about 20 African countries. As a matter of fact some countries in East Africa are begging him to invest in their countries.

Prior to the coming of Obj 90% of cements were imported. Obasanjo gave a period of grace to Lafarge, Dangote, Folawiyo, Flour Mills, Ibeto to increase their manufacturing capacities.
Full time cement traders like Dangote, Folawiyo, Ibeto , BUA were asked to move from trading to manufacturing.


Manufacturers like Lafarge, Flour Mills ie Unicem.Ashaka, Benue cement, Northern Nigeria Cement were told to increase their manufacturing capacities.

Among the full time cement and it only Dangote and BUA that truly moved into Cement manufacturing.

Where are the quarries and plants of Ibeto?
