You mean officially right??

You all flip the age card here when it suits you. Really hilarious.

I made a comment about Onazis' age many pages back, many were quick to make a fool out of my argument, despite my revelation about knowing his family in Jos.

Now, it's come to Ambrose - a player, few want to see play for SE, you now want to bring up his official/unofficial age.

Talk about Double - Standards.

You have shown your unmitigated prejudice and dislike for Efe Ambrose. Because Balogun is actually older than him.

you make me laugh...sir
on paper...yes I know balogun is older..
but going wit your assertion on home grown talents and the doubt about their age...
balogun should be younger...
you brought up those assumptions and now...I expect you to employ same in assesing both ages...

afterall efe started in Nigeria domestic scene....
judge his age same way you've been doing towards homegrown lads....

until then...balogun is younger

I never said Efe should not play for Nigeria. He could very well be younger than Balogun.

However, Komekn always talks about the lack of records in Nigeria when discrediting players ages but he ignored it here because he is an advocate of Efe.

That was the point, i was driving at.

ENGLAND: Championship - Round 13

From this feature forward I will be announcing the Whoscored Nigerian Championship Player of the Week. With a game to spare, assuming Ipswich pair of Iorfa and Adeyemi do not pull it off later today, Josh Onomah gets the crown. And if any does, I will modify accordingly.

Whoscored Nigerian Championship Player of the Week | Josh Onomah

Sheffield United 2-1 Reading
Reading remain on the road after beating Leeds in the previous round, but fail to secure another away win.

England-born and former Portuguese junior international, Tiago Ilori worked another full shift for the Royals in their away loss to Sheffield United.
+Stats Rating: 6.59

Forgotten Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Sone Aluko, however, was subbed off in the 66th minute. Aluko topped the whoscored stats category for bad reasons. He was dispossessed four times, but performed better in terms of his pass success rate although he failed to make the top 5 in this category[/b]
+Stats Rating: 5.91

Bolton 1-1 QPR
Derik Osede (Bolton) and Nedum Onuora (QPR) still out due to injury

Bright Osayi-Samuel did not feature for QPR as he was not listed in their matchday squad.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Bolton however threw in Sammy Ameobi from the start, but the 25 year old forward who has played for both Nigeria and England at the junior level failed to replicate his MOTM performance from last week, and was pulled off in the 62nd minute. Ameobi made the top 5 for successful tackles (3), but also made the top 5 in the dispossessed (3) category.
+Stats Rating: 6.55

Millwall 2-0 Birmingham
Millwall's Fred Onyedinma was neither in action nor on the bench when they recorded a home win against Birmingham.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Barnsley 0-1 Hull
19-year-old Barnsley forward, Ike Dominique Ugbo, started and lasted 67 minutes in their home loss to Hull City. The Chelsea loanee was one of the best players on the pitch in terms of aerial duels, totaling 4. He made 11 accurate passes out of 17 attempted.
+Stats Rating: 6.44

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina continued to boss Hull's right-back department, but failed to earn a second consecutive Whoscored MOTM recognition. He however got a mention as one of the best tacklers of the game with 3 successful attempts. His pass success ratio was identical to Ugbo's (11 accurate passes out of 17 attempted).
+Stats Rating: 7.08

Fikayo Tomori remained in Hull's dugout for the entire period.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Aston Villa 2-1 Fulham
Chelsea legend John Terry scores for Villa

Fulham's Sheyi Ojo is still out due to a dislocated shoulder. The Liverpool loanee is expected to remain sidelined for another 6 weeks.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Villa's Josh Onomah worked a full shift and was cautioned in the 82nd minute. The England U21 midfielder who is said to be on the radar of Super Eagles coach, Genort Rohr, completed 21 accurate passes out of 26 attempts, 3 of which were key passes. He was clearly the best player on the pitch for total tackles, with 7 successful attempts. He also made the top 5 for best overall rating -- 7.5 compared to John Terry's 7.8
+Stats Rating: 7.48

Ipswich vs Norwich
Dominic Iorfa is expected to continue his fine form for Ipswich as they take on Norwich later today.
On Tom Adeyemi's situation, Blues boss, Mick McCarthy told iFollow Ipswich, "Tom [Adeyemi] is still feeling his hamstring so he should be back training on Monday with a view to the Norwich game."

Wolves 3-2 Preston
Bright Enobakhare was a 75th minute sub in for Wolves. The 19-year-old forward was Wolves's highest rated sub, and made the top 5 for successful dribbles despite his relative short time on the pitch.
+Stats Rating: 6.18

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Burton
Hope Akpan fell with Burton away to Nottingham, without tasting action.
+Stats Rating: N/A

Update: It turns out that reports of Balogun's unavailability for the Algeria (and Argentina) games are false after all, as implied by him on his twitter pages. Looks like the Oyibo wall will stand erect in the double header. But Moses is still out for a month.

-----------------Ezenwa----------------

---Shehu----Ekong--Balogun----Aina---

-----------Onazi-------Esiti------------

-------Iwobi----Mikel----Onyekuru----

--------------Nwakaeme------

Ighalo/Iheanacho to come in for Nwakaeme; and Ndidi for Esiti in the 2nd half.

For Argentina, I believe we can have as much as 6 subs:

1. So let another keeper, say Uzoho have the second half. I want to assume we will test Alampasu or Ajiboye for Algeria.
2. It's fair to see what Nwakaeme can do at a big stage. Also Ighalo who is our 1st choice #9 at the moment, it would be a real test for him
3. Ebuehi probably had been tested against Algeria. It will be great to see him in action again against Argentina in the 2nd half, or better yet swap Aina to the RB role in the 2nd half, and test Echiejile again against Argentina. I hope that would settle things once and for all at LB. (Let Aina and Ebuehi play against Algeria swapping full back roles)
4. Awaziem should come in and pair Balogun for once. Let's see how that will go in the 2nd half.
5. Musa for Onyekuru later on, let's see if the former still got that magic whenever he sees Messi. He's scored braces twice in Messi's presence.
6. Iheanacho should come in as a 10, while Mikel drops back and Onazi makes way. It would prove to be another good test.

Modified
I'd rather start Ndidi. Let Esiti play against Algeria, as well as Agbo and Ogu. We've seen enough of Agu.

TRANSFER RUMOR

Juventus And Atletico Madrid Fighting For N7.1 Billion-Rated Super Eagles Star
Published: October 22, 2017

rsca.be

Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru is generating transfer interest from top European clubs Juventus and Atletico Madrid, as per reports.

The Daily Mail is reporting that there is a possibility that Everton will sell the striker without him playing an official game for the club he joined in the summer transfer window, although it appears he is not eligible to be granted a work permit in England.

Onyekuru may be searching for his first goal in a European club competition after three games, but has been in the headlines for his performance against PSG on Wednesday and his brilliant start to his career at Anderlecht.

It cost Everton seven million pounds to acquire the Nigerian from Eupen and any club interested in signing him when the window opens will have to pay in the region of £15million (approximately N7.1 billion) for his services.

Atletico Madrid are scouring the market for a long-term replacement for Fernando Torres and Onyekuru is on their agenda.

The 20-year-old has more than four years left on his contract with Everton.

Odegbami: World Cup Funds – Why No NFF President Has Ever Won A Second Term!

October 21, 2017 9:31 pm

Kayode Thomas is a very well known Nigerian journalist, irrepressible, courageous and hard working. Through the years, I have followed his career from a distance. His candour is remarkable, frank to a fault and down to earth. He is not one whose views can be easily discarded or disregarded. He sticks to his viewpoint like a leach, irritating the hell out of whoever is on the receiving side of his argument.

A few days ago, he stirred the hornet’s nest. He authored a public letter to the President of the Senate of the National Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki. That letter is creating waves of reaction all over.

Specifically, in his letter, he demanded that the Senate President dismiss a request purportedly made by the Minister of Sports to the senate for urgent appropriation of funds to enable the ministry, or the NFF (I am not sure who the funds were meant to go to), start early preparation of the Super Eagles for the 2018 World Cup.

I cannot confirm that such a request was made but considering the state of the country and the present government’s focus on eradicating corruption within the country’s body polity, no one should be surprised that alarm bells are ringing with another World Cup around the corner. The four-yearly event has been a cesspool of corrupt practices since Nigeria started going to the global fiesta in 1994.

Every Nigerian knows that it is a jamboree for everyone, except the actual participants and those that attend outside government sponsorship. Even the players, seeing that they are been used as cannon fodder for this ugly practice that is so obvious to every living Nigerian, have been forced to join in the unprecedented sharing of ‘free’ money from government that could have been better used to develop Nigerian football to the greatest heights.

I cannot reproduce Kayode Thomas’ letter here for obvious reasons. He used some pretty harsh words. His most scathing is that the request for any funds from government is a scam!

He then went on to say that the profligacy of the past must be stopped, and that the change mantra of the present government for which he worked hard to put in place must also take effect in Nigerian sports.
The question now is this: Is the request truly a scam? What really are the facts? Why is the issue of funding not simple and clear enough for all to understand?

The NFF is supposed to be a non-governmental, private organization, according to the statutes of FIFA. But here in Nigeria, there is a concerted effort to install the NFF as an agency of government by law. The bill is before the national assembly moving slowly and dangerously to fruition one day soon.

FIFA tries to support and help the federations to sustain independence by funding the entirety of their participation in FIFA’s most important and lucrative event that rakes in unprecedented income for the global organization. FIFA provides basic funds and logistic support for every participating country that can take care of their preparation, participation and even much more beyond the championship. Mark the word ‘basic’.

The federations also know that the World Cup gives them an opportunity to do business, big business, with companies falling over each other to pay for association with their national teams.

Every federation is at liberty to do any extras on their own steam. They can choose to go to the moon for training. They can bring along to the event their entire population. They can do as they wish.

So, why should government come into the matter at all?
That is the question begging for an answer.
The reality is that here in Nigeria, government has always provided all the funds even since 1994!
The NFF draws up a budget through the sports ministry. The funds are often appropriated to them after a little threat by players and pressure from the gullible public for funds to prepare the Eagles. The federation adds these to the funds from FIFA and other sources, and, thereafter embarks on a mind-boggling spending spree.

Often there is a whole army of people – politicians, officials of the ministry, wives, girlfriends, family members, supporters, business associates and so on, that attend the World Cup as a holiday of a life time, all expenses paid for and no accounts ever rendered to government because the NFF is ‘non-governmental’. Can you believe it?

I read one of the several reactions to Kayode’s claims. It came from a gentleman whose views on Nigerian sports cannot be disregarded. He knows the story of Nigerian football and sports as a whole inside out!

Chief Jibade Fashina-Thomas, Uncle Jabby is one of the last members of the visionaries that drove Nigerian sport in its most glorious days in the 1970s, under the leadership of late Isaac Akioye. He was a brilliant and most respected journalist before he became the first spokesman of the then National Sports Commission,

This is a lightly edited excerpt from his published response.

‘Oh, Kayode, what a patriotic Thomas thou art! You have brazenly hit the nail hard on the head not caring whose ox is gored. Your letter to the Senate President is a clarion call and a crusade against barefaced corruption.

You see, requesting for funds to prepare teams for international competitions like the World Cup football championship is an old game in the Sports Ministry. The government is blackmailed into coughing out millions of US dollars for euphemistically preparing the national team, whose members are mostly in active professional competitions in foreign countries.

Meanwhile, FIFA adheres to its policy and sends funds to all participating countries to prepare their teams. The NFA, or whatever it is now called, has never accounted for such bailouts. The Sports Ministry is aware of the FIFA subventions but goes ahead to use the football championship to rake in its own loot from an unsuspecting (?) government. And nobody has questioned the Sports Ministry how the taxpayers’ money was “spended” (apologies, Solomon Dalung).

If you think the two NASS committees on Sports do not know what is going on, then you are making a ‘mugu’ of yourself. They lie in waiting with their forks and knives sharpened for their own slices of the cake before the whole loot is ‘spended’. It is an orchestrated racket, an age-long scam.

Finally, our paths may not have crossed, Kayode, but I know enough about you through reputation. A million letters will not stop the NASS from approving Dalung’s request, regardless of the faulty procedure, but hundreds of sports loving Nigerians can….by picketing the National Assembly.
So, it is time you don your tracksuits and get ready for that march. We must not allow Dalung’s move to go unchallenged’.

So, this is the reality. No country can claim not to have enough basic funds from FIFA to attend the World Cup.
The players know this too, and despite collecting all approved bonuses from government, rightfully demand a separate share of the grant from FIFA.

So since 1994, they have been collecting about 50 percent of the total sum granted from FIFA and sharing amongst themselves.
The NFF collects the balance and uses to fund the lavish lifestyles of its leadership.

It is for these funds that no President of the NFF can return for a second term. It is for these funds that the NFF can never be granted the autonomy and independence FIFA statutorily demands for a federation to become its member. It is for these funds that the NFF, which should be a completely private body, will soon be inserted into the laws of our country, contrary to FIFA rules, and made a government agency to be funded by government.

I think many of us who want to go with scientific facts will defend any player that SUPPOSEDLY went through MRI testing. Onazi is one of them.
FIFA introduced random testing at Nigeria 2009 U17 World Cup. I am 100% sure that no coach will risk us being caught at the tournament proper. Hence, Onazi must have been tested prior to the tournament. Remember that quite a number of the players had failed the test prior to the the games, and coach John Obuh assembled a whole new team. People made the argument that the captain of the team the, Fortune Chukwudi was overaged, but that's still a claim like yours. Everybody seem to be neighbors of all our Golden Eaglet players.. Now, whats your own story?

MRI in 2009 was random. It became compulsory in 2011 at the CAF and FIFA level.

In 2009, players could have gone under the radar. I think the evidence against Fortune Chukwudi at the time was overwhelming.

It was random but there was already a scandal leading to that tournament. And we changed coaches 3 times.

I modified that post and added links for those who care to read.

the testing was random.. but do you tell FIFA the players you want tested? As a coach would you risk Chukwudi picked at random?

Modified
I've clarified that erroneous view that all players got tested at the U17 world cup after 2009 edition. Even at the 2013 world cup players were still tested at random

“In order to protect the integrity of the tournament and in the spirit of fair play, FIFA has conducted MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) of the wrist prior to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup UAE 2013.

“Four randomly selected players per team have been tested in the UAE under the supervision of FIFA’s medical experts.”

At the CAF level, YES.

No,its a certain probability. To be entirely honest,Simon Moses is yet to prove he deserve a place in the starting 11. Like most people have already pointed out multiple times here Moses ,in spite of all his little dribbles and runs WE are not sold on the guy. In fact,I will be surprise if he makes it to world cup final 23. With the speed with which Onyekuru is gaining confidence Simon's spot is in dispute. Musa ,for sure ejiro azu eje ebe obuna!

Same for shaky and panicky Ekong and spent Echiejile...I hope these guys dont go around thinking they have made it,especially Ekong.

Ekong has been solid throughout the qualifiers. He has already improved a lot.

Elderson played particularly well against Algeria. I did not like his display against Cameroon.

Simon Moses is a hard worker. Coaches love hard workers. Onyekuru does not work as hard.

Nwakaeme?pls what can u say so far on his performance this season coz is not encouraging especially in a very average Isreali league,no goal just one assist and surprisingly some are still rating him as a player to break into Eagles XI.

Ekong has form a great partnership with Balogun and it w take a great form from any CB to displace him,Awaziem is showing a good form and if he can replicate it in eagles, it w be a straight fight between him and Ekong in starting XI.

Elderson still a player to reckon with base on experience but when it comes to football display he is losing it.The LB position is open for grabbed but we need to see what Aina and others have to offer, until then d position still belong to Echiejele.

Simeon Moses, honestly i don't rate him coz i always see him as average player but hardworking.Iwobi displayed against Zambia showed that Simeon w definitely find it hard to start ahead of him.

Also Oyekwuru is a talented player waiting on d wing, his performance against PSG proved that he has something to offer, not forgetting experience Ahmed Musa but his club situation has worsening things for him, hope he get another club and rediscover himself.

Definitely Iwobi sure starter now left for Simeon Moses, Ahmed Musa,Oyekwuru to show who is better.

The MRI may not really be 100% accurate. You can still game the system if you know the way.
I heard you can cheat the test if you take high volume of citric acid, maybe 3 weeks to the test test date.

Players of our U17's during camping take lots of citrus to "game the system" so I heard.

Nwakaeme?pls what can u say so far on his performance this season coz is not encouraging especially in a very average Isreali league,no goal just one assist and surprisingly some are still rating him as a player to break into Eagles XI.

Pls i need your inputs.

Nwakaeme haven't really been given a chance to prove himself. We maybe pleasantly surprised if he was given a go.
Remember, Bright Dike would have been on the plane world cup if not for injuries. He won the hearts of many because of his output against Catalonia and I think Italy?

I have a feeling people don't rate Nwakaeme because of his looks. Yes! I will say it. I recall when first he came into limelight on this thread, most people made very derogatory comments about his looks.

Talking about output this season, we have players who can't even boast of an assist this season but nobody is asking questions about their place in the world cup.

I never said Efe should not play for Nigeria. He could very well be younger than Balogun.

However, Komekn always talks about the lack of records in Nigeria when discrediting players ages but he ignored it here because he is an advocate of Efe.

That was the point, i was driving at.

exactly well said...bro.
and him adjusting league comparison just to give the Scottish league a hype....leave me baffled.

I think dessers should be called also...
after all....he is a CF
unlike the other hybrid like nacho and co...
he should be tried and see what he can offer...
one thing you can never take away from strikers is...their positioning
any striker who can position himself well...will always score goals...onyekuru good at this too
I think the young lad should be tried

if we really wanna be sincere S Moses is not the best Nigeria winger in the Belgian league...
Dennis and Olayinka have done better this season...if not that the time is too short and coupled wit the fact he has not been doing badly in the SE colors they would have been need to clamour for those guys....
I still see the possibility of one of them making the cut if they can get involved in not less than 20 goals this season...

Same for shaky and panicky Ekong and spent Echiejile...I hope these guys dont go around thinking they have made it,especially Ekong.
bro I think this is solely ur opinion and u are entitled to it..cos I don't agree with u that Moses doesn't deserve a spot in the team..
This is a guy who has been with us in every inch of every match playing huge impact to the team's qualification and u are here downplaying his sacrifices and hardwork with little known onyekuru...

I still maintain that Moses Simon is still ahead of onyekuru..only iwobi can compete with him on that role.. cool
As for ekong. ...I don't know whether it is when he collapse on the field like Sam okwaraji..then u can know his importance and sacrifices. ..

As for musa...I shake my head...cos the guy is playing bet365 with his slot grin

Juventus And Atletico Madrid Fighting For N7.1 Billion-Rated Super Eagles Star

There are like 5 standard ways to cheat your way through an MRI. That is why they also do drug tests before the MRI in some instances but the simple truth is that it can be cheated.

Moreover who is to say the MRI test was actually carried out? The FIFA agents right? What if they say it was carried out without actually carrying it out?

Ekong has been solid throughout the qualifiers. He has already improved a lot.

Elderson played particularly well against Algeria. I did not like his display against Cameroon.

Simon Moses is a hard worker. Coaches love hard workers. Onyekuru does not work as hard.
Onyekuru does not work as hard as S.Moses?

Nigeria Watches On As FIFA Considers Updating Change Of Nationality Rules

World football governing body FIFA is currently mulling over some changes on the rule governing players eligibility for national teams, particularly the rule on switching from one nation to another.
According to Victor Montagliani, who is the head of FIFA’s stakeholders committee, the present rule on eligibility for national team contains some restrictions, which are mainly aimed at frustrating players from playing for teams they have no connection with.
He also said the present rule governing players who want to switch allegiance from one nation to another has provisions, which has stopped players from switching from one country to another with ease.
The Canadian, who is also the president of the North, Central America and Caribbean Federation ( CONCACAF) particularly mentioned Africa, Asia and his own region as continents battling with the issue of nationality switch for eligible footballers.
Nigeria have been very active in luring players with dual nationality to switch allegiance to the senior national team, and the proposed amendment of the rules could make things easier for them, but at the same time it could also tightened.
“There are nationality issues that pop up all over the world, in Africa, there are issues in Asia and CONCACAF, so it’s a good time to have a look at this and see if there are solutions, without hurting the integrity of the game.”
“There are so many issues that have popped up over the years because the world is changing, immigration is changing”, Montagliani concluded.

I believe that Simon Moses' 'hardworking' style of play is actually exaggerated here. There is a reason why VicMo had to go over to LWF to help Echejile, if Simon Moses was such a hardworker it wouldn't really happen.

But still he works way way harder than Onyekuru

Simon Moses is a hard worker. Coaches love hard workers. Onyekuru does not work as hard.

Onyekuru has not been tested sufficiently to conclude he cant work hard, after all, Simon dont do much other than run around like a headless chicken. As far as I know Simon is not adding much to our attack and its not like he was called upon to defend. He is not measuring up,attack wise. Dude can dribble for Africa with no vision. The only difference between Musa and Simon is speed and skill the common thing being that they have no vision and conviction. What use is your speed and skill if you cant help your team ?

You want to tell me you will start Simon ahead of Iwobi simply because Simon tracks back to defend? Do you know how potent an attack line that has Mikel, VicMO, Ighalo,Iwobi and Onyekuru will be. All these players I mentioned are all ball jugglers. My point exactly is that Simon need to sit up because his spot is not secured.

As for Ekong, I pray he doesnt commit a blunder because that will nail him.... Ekong is very strong and good in aerial battle but dude panics for a CD.
