My first post on this thread....

I've been a ghost follower since December 2016.

I read the thread from page 0 till the most recent, especially during the buildup to jamb, and it served as a great morale booster for me. God bless you all. Special recognition to Dr. Lagusta.

I'm a newly admitted Dentistry and Dental surgery student, University of Ibadan.
congrats bro

Good day guys, i am a student of imsu biochemistry...medsurg was my choice when i picked my jamb form but medsurg and some medical courses like medlab, nursing wasn't accredited in imsu so i was admitted to study biochemistry.

One prof in IMSU who happened to be my relative promised me that he can swap me to optometry...but am damm confuse because my mates have been telling me to settle for biochemistry that spending six years for optometry didn't wort it..they told me to focus on biochem that i can go for masters in any medical course after graduating..

Pls bosses in the house i need your candid advice here..

urgent replies will highly be appreciated.
the question is, what do you really want to study? is it something related to mednsurg or mednsurg itself? if it is med n surg bro, you'll probably have to hold on to your bch, while u attempt jamb again n choose other sch where u have comparative advantage. if you fail to get it by d time u'r through, then u apply via direct entry....goodluck

Hmmmmmmmm
Let me share my testimony too ,I wanted to keep calm but no it's just ruffling through my tummy .
I have been following this thread since 2015 ,then I read the pages of the group from 0 till date ,the active times of Dr Laguda ,drgboy ,lomaxx, mentorandfriend and so on .
All thanks to those pple for their unleaving words of motivation ,they somehow helped me till this day .
But c'mon I made it at last ,I have been admitted to study medicine and surgery in the university of Ilorin on Sunday!.
Cheers to the doctors ,old medical students and we the newbies of the prestigious medical family .
May we sought higher and higher in this profession ,the sky is our starting point .
And to the upcoming ones ,note these two quotes ......
"Motivation is what makes you start whereas habit and consistency is what keep you going"
" No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small"

Hello here.. Am happy to join this compromising thread.. Actually I am a medical aspirant.. But due to my scores o had to switch to physiology.. I had 262 in jamb and 68% in jamb.. So people told me to switch that if I get admitted with physiology I'll be able to switch to medicine and surgery.. That's in unilorin.. So I want to ask for the requirements to switch to medicine from other medical courses.. And does the change take place after the first semester or after the end of year 1..
Ill appreciate good answers..

What do you mean by 262 in Jamb and 68%??
Nevertheless, its possible to switch courses to Medicine and Surgery, though it depends on the school.
In some schools, like it was in my days, you'd need to have a minimum of 4.0 CGPA at the end of your year one to qualify to switch over.
Some also, back then, switched, after the end of the course(Physiology) they studied, over to MBBS upon attaining a second class upper and continued from year 3 MBBS.
I doubt these still happens often now.

One word: Take your books very seriously if you intend switching to medical school.

Cheers.

There's no such thing as bad course.
Nonetheless, you're encouraged to aspire as much as you want in any field of study.
Wish you luck.

Cheers.

in unilorin the best ten from physiology and the best ten from anatomy cross to medicine .
It takes place after the first year ....if you're among the best ten in either physiology or anatomy in 100l then you'll move to 200l medicine .
Hope I have answered ur question?

I registered in the pre degree program in RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY ,we are about to start, the problem is that the Med & Surg dept is still under construction, the course was not listed in Jamb, students that did the programme last year were not given admission. I want to know if I am wasting my time. But the school has promised that by this time next yr everything will be ready. Sorry 4 the long post.
