At 17 the only thing I knew how to do was play PS 2.....and it was not even mine grin grin

Nigga could be a very good writer too, except for some missing punctuation marks, missing up of past/present tense, missing key words.....to mention a few.

Keep developing yourself Omonoba1981, we'd be low key cheering here wink

I honestly feel the issue of finance should be the easiest to tackle.

The question in my head (and maybe the VO's) is that "why didn't you pay full tuition?

Plus the N1.6 million (~ $5,500 CAD) gift deed was for what? Living expenses? Where and when are you gonna get the rest?

Apologies if you think I have said too much but we need to have it at the back of our minds that the VO is carefully looking for a good reason to deny our visa applications (and not the other way round).

The 1.6 m was for the first term tuition Cos they gave a deadline for payment which was like 3 months after I applied .. I paid the before the deadline and sent them the receipt .. I was of the opinion that I would get a decision before the end of the 3 month or a response to pay the first term fees

You might want to check the average processing time in Nigeria. Last time I checked it was 22 weeks. If your application hasn't gone past that time, it is advisable to wait a couple weeks after the average processing time before sending a request email. This applies both to online or paper route. Every email you send to CIC is made part of your file and can be seen by a visa officer when they make a decision on your case. Avoid sending too many emails as this can make you appear like a Cannyland desperado.

Thank you so much.

Hello Bros,
Jnyuwa02

I have interest in doing PhD in USA, can I get full scholarship. Which school do you think will be okay

I did mechanical engineering B. Eng (GPA 2.86), and Mechanical engineering
M. Eng (GPA 3.64) both In FUTA

Like you said it is only on marriage one can relocate to USA because essence of my study is to relocate. Plz advise

jnyuwa02:

Why do you prefer studying in Canada? I will advice you just study the in the USA and not stress yourself with this Candian study permit thing. I studied in the USA and was a wonderful time. I doubt Canada can top it. But I could be wrong. The best professors and students and cutting edge research are in the USA. The only reason I can think of is maybe you are interested in residency? That is the reason why many study in Canada and not the USA. In the USA, your education does not qualify you for residency, the immigration law of that country is family based, not merit point based system as in Canada. If you really insist on studying in Canada, I will recommend you apply and get into a good program. The Regina program sounds wonderful!! Sit down and write a thoughtful letter of explanation on why you want to study in Canada even though you were accepted to the USA. Why Canada in essence and not the USA? Tell them the places you have visited and your history of keeping to the immigration laws of those countries. Tell them what a Canadian education means to you and the things you hope to accomplish for Nigeria on the long term. Your visa will boil down to addressing those issues wisely in a thoughtful SOP. You are young, so let them see you as wise and ready now to undertake what is a difficult and expensive undertaking. It seems to me you have been all over the place haphazardly applying without putting much thoughts to all these things. That is why you have been denied both procedurally (you cannot apply for Canada study permit while on visit in USA and Canada) and substantively when you returned to Nigeria. Sit down and file a thoughtful application this time around addressing your now readiness and gained experience and wisdom to undertake studies in Canada on your own. Come back to Nigeria and file the application. Good luck this time.

Well said and quite explanatory!
I'll advice you go with the above advice clearly stated by @jnyuwa. It's a guided one!!!.

Come back to Nigeria and process your study permit application. At least you have secured an enormous travel histories across America, Europe's and North America (Canada) which will tend to act as an added bonus to your TRV App.

Also, As @jnyuwa has said earlier work more on constructing a good SOP that will portray you as a genuine student. Why Canada, why Regina, Why the course, Your future prospects/goals(what you intend to achieve after completion of studies in Canada)etc...

Age(17years) is still very much on your side. I believe if you go with the advices given to you here. Your next Application will be a successful one.

All the best!

So many full scholarships for PHD programs in the USA. All my friends doing PHDs across the United States, have full funding in grants, work study and loans. University of Washington; University of Iowa; University of Florida, etc. You have to search. Thousands of colleges and universities in the USA, to be precise about 3500. Unlike Canada where there are less than 50 universities. Lol. Canada is more laid back, safer and better place to raise a family; offers the prospect of a green card upon graduation. In the USA, violence everywhere, great schools, you get kicked out of the country after your studies even if you have two PhDs. Good luck, make google your best friend and read up on schools offering your intended program and what their requirements for admission and financial aid constitute. Your GPA is on the low side, but with very good recommendation letters, superb essays and statement of intent, I think you can squirk in. The USA doesn't emphasize minimum GPA like Canada.

I don't think that should be a ground for refusal.

That rate can never be for CAD. It is for USD cos that's what banks deal with and they convert your CAD to USD and charge you equivalent. CAD is around 282 NAIRA per 1 CAD

Hello Guys
Pls i need ur assistant, i've just been accepted at the New Brunswick Community College for Business Administration - Management and i heavr been asked to proceed for the Study Permit with the prove of acceptance letter they sent to me and i am asked to pay $500 non refundable to keep a seat. But, i was told that, one has to be certified with all the required Docs for assessments by the VO.

So pls, i will need you to help me in listing all the necessary docs i must get in other to certified the VO coz, i am a newbie in this traveling process stuff.
Another one is, my sponsor is my Dad and i am working for him at his company, but the statement of account he will use will be in his company's name, so pls how can i confuse the VO that my Dad owns the company?
The last one is, a letter in my surname is different from my Dad's as in.. He is using Anifowose whilst i am using Anifowos'h'e, pls i hope this wouldn't be an implication for me?

I have heard lot of students also submitting a letter of explanation along with the SOP. The SOP is all about what your background and your interest in the program or that particular field. The letter of explanation is a separate document where in you only provide clarification for the refusal reasons from the refusal letter of caips/gcms notes.

Be guided that both letters serves the same purpose. Letter of explanation(LOE) and Statement of purpose(SOP) are two persons in one(All the same). grin

Applicants who use LOE to address previous concerns of their visa refusal and use SOP to explain their intent to study, it's applicant choice.

I believe that applicant who use such route wants to call the attention of the visa officer in regards to their previous denial and how they have tackled the reasons/concern of the VO. Nothing more, nothing less!!!
You may decide to add both content to just a letter, be it LOE/SOP or you write them separately as others do. They both are good! It depends on how you want to paint your app. I best suggest you also go with that route, its a good one and a welcome idea.

I hope this information helps.

All the best!
