the ones I have is hard copy it's for RC and Recruit. The 2007 edition and the 2012 edition. Though the 2007 it's outdated.

In 2007 edition it says retirement of RC officers will be base on 35yrs in service while the 2012 says retirement of RC officers will be on Run Out Date (ROD). .. i.e. Age on rank. And the 2012 edition its for officers from 36RC. Becos 36RC were the first set of cadets to start a degree program at the Academy..

I will try and get the SSC (HTACOS) from my oga..

God bless you my brother.

the first set of shortlistment is done by a computer not human. Army program a computer to shortlist 30 names of candidates per state at random. Only candidates who meet up with their requirements that the computer will shortlist. The second shortlistment is done by the Army selection board through the supervision of the Office of the secretary to the COAS.

if u notice, some people will be shortlisted but when they go to the Board interview u notice they are disqualified due to academic certificates. For example, if Army wants people with 2:1 and someone with 2:2 was shortlisted. It means that person with 2:2 during application applied 2:1. And the computer was program to shortlist 2:1 so the computer shortlisted the guy who put in wrong grade. But when the guy gets to NDA he will be screened out and its 2ransport will be waste.

My advice,
when the form is out. Read the requirements very well. And if u qualified.
You should be shortlised.
Just pray..

for some years I've been with the Army, this is what I observed.
From my observation o.

Under the non-commission cdr, Education is the best. Others are good o. But Education is +1 as its gives its soldiers more opportunities to go to school to and get a 1st degree or even masters than other corps.

Now for commission cdr,
the best corps so far from my observation is Infantry corps. Infantry corps is the only corps that sends its soldiers and officers for courses often. Both inside and outside the country. Note: others corps send theirs soldiers for courses both inside and outside Nigeria but not as often as Infantry.
Rememer attending courses as a soldier or officer gives u an edge over ur peers in terms of appointment and redeployment.
But Infantry is deadly. Some things u will do as a soldier in other corps and go scot free. U can't do dem in Infantry and go unpunished.

I actually thought you were just an aspirant with a lot of insider info, i didnt know u were already in the system. Little wonder your contributions, thus far, have been so insightful and enlightening.

Welldone sir.

Nice thread here.... Loads of info, please I hv a question
1) SSC upon graduation hangs 1 star(2LT) how many months will it take to become a full lieutenant, because it takes some people 18months, some 3 years and some 6 months, the last batch that just passed out Course 44 are now lieutenants in about 3 months, can one please throw more light on this. what is the number of months to drop the 1 star.
2) When will SSC 45 come out

cc GenAsahCinC

Even though GenAnsahCinC has dealt a summary blow to your queries, i still wish to make a few additions and possibly put things in a little more perspective.

When an RC guy gets into NDA (most times at a very young age of 17), for the next 5years of their life, they will face gruesome training and hardship. Infact, those NDA guys are bitter towards SSC and DSSC guys. Let me quote an RC Captain who was among the officers that screened us in SSC 44. He said "Look at all of you Bastards, when i was serving jobs back to back for 5years, you guys were attending normal schools and flexing. Now you want to spend just 9months and come out with the same star i spent 5years hustling for".

This explains why the SSC training is usually far tougher than DSSC and even RC at times, coz they want to dish out the whole tasks and jobs of 5years into 9months.

Now my point is, it takes an average of 6 - 10months for an RC guy to hang his full stars, as a compensation for the 5years of torture they spent in NDA, while an SSC guy will hang his own one star for as much as 3 years.

PS: SSC Course 44 guys are still Second Lieutenants

Do you know if any 2:2 made the cut?
I just pray and hope army don't behave like navy and peg it at 2:1.
Did you face the board? My course is always on DSSC requirement but I'll go for SSC na them be soldiers the rest are just sisi, why will I be a soldier and I can't command troops or aim for COAS?
Anyway this year is our year.
I don start training and medical checkups already

The minimum grade is 2.2. But you will still write an exam during screening and even take 23 courses during training. So, you have to be intelligent, at least

guy i wish u witness one of their trainings one day. Specially the 'Camp HighLand' where cadets fire and throw live gradne.
Some training their women don't really get into it like guys. If a girl do 3 the guy will do 7. At least I witnessed their everyday 10km endurance trekking bare foot on hot cole tyes. U go see how their female cadets go faint the male counter the carry the female for back. (Leave no one behind) rule.
U go see how their feet go the pill blood the flow. Guy that place is hell o. U need to be tough for it.

This is interesting. Please, do u refer to RC or DSSC?

guy chill! My cousin said more than this. He was deployed to 3Battalion Effurun. Evry night he keeps disturbing me dat he wants to fight Boko. He wants action, he join army to fight. I told him to chill. One day he almost fired his commander because he wanted to go to Borno. I tell u d guy was more beast than u. Two weeks after firing a shot at his oga's roof, his oga saw the gallantry spirit in him and redeployed him to 114 Battalion Maiduguri. Under 6months of staying in sambisa forest the guy ran back home and commited the worst offence by throwing away his riffle. Army values its riffle than its soldier. The guy ran to stay with my aunty in a very far place but after one year of running from sambisa, Army caught him. He spent 2yrs in guardroom with severe punishment. He was begging that he doesnt want to join again. He was court martial. If not for the people we know. His case was death sentence. But instead of death sentence they gave him sometin similiar to death sentence which was '(goin to war front without a weapon) the guy was buggle back to sambisa with no gun. Thank God he survived it. Four months ago he was given a gu. And last month he paid us visit at the barracks.. So guy chill. Army is not what u see in movies..

Interesting!

if u are qualified. Pls apply.
40% of cadets in the Academy left universities to join. I know a guy who left his 500L at OAU to start 100L in NDA. He is currently a termer 3 cadet..

According to that my guy @CdtSanusi. He says most of Those that left University at any level to join NDA always outshine their mates in the Academy academically..

This is soo true. I have met a handful of RC guys that got in through this means and they did very well in the academy.

Just like someone who went for another degree after his first degree. Naturally he is now experienced with a broader horizon and comprehension. So there is a high propensity for him to excel

Let him give it a huge shot

1. I am a 2:2 holder and was shortlisted for SSC 44. I was screened out on medical grounds. it was so sad cause I left the Academy (NDA old site) on Sunday in which the medical results where announced while others that passed the medicals did the 3.2km race. I watched from the stands.
The Monday after that Sunday, interview ended.

I noticed a particular trend in shortlistment for #SSC44 most of the guys selected for the interview registered on the first day the portal was opened, or at least within the 1st week.
From my findings, I believe the algorithm used will be majorly FIFO(First In First Out).
