It happenned in our department. Every lecturer brought recommendation letter for just 15 positions.

As I am talking to you an associate prof (Reader) couldn't secure admission for his relative in Chemistry Education (not even a competitive course).

That is why many politicians prefer govt contract to civil service job. They can make billions in contract and even establish their children.

Off course, government officials who steal don't put their kids in civil service. Na relatives and friends and have nots who they even consider. Their children are abroad or better still establish them or even put them in the likes of haliburton and chevron. You must note school admission is way different from getting a job and getting a job in an oil company is different from any other kind of job. A proffesor can decide to not help anybody because nobody put him there in the first place. His brain got him there not a god father. A politician cannot say he wouldn't help anybody because most politicians got there by the help of a superior godfather or fathers that they cannot say no to. It is not just money that got them there in the first place but loyalty and godfatherism. Even buhari as the president cannot say no to the cabals who own and run the affairs of this country in their bedroom because they put him there in the first place. If a politician is in a position to help which most are, they help using the same criteria i mentioned above. (Priority). No feelings in politics. Just loyalty and benfits. Politics is different from education. And if malam abubakar or elrufai's sons get to know, no harm in explaining why he had to pick one before the other. That's politics. Another opportunity will come. This is why they stay in power.

The man in charge also has relatives doesnt he. . The list will Also go through ladan abi? Would it also go through minister of petroleum before getting approval. I would like to know. In the process of going through all this people, is the list not liable to be changed at each passing stage? Cus you are the only realiable source that can calm my nerves right now.

If it was any other recruitment I would have said OK but the way this politicians they carry DPR and nnpc matter for head is crazy. The truth is that NNPC and DPR have always given over 60% on merit in their recruitment history. Full time, early career recruitment I mean.

I have a strong faith that God will help me to succeed in this DPR recruitment, if the politicians like, let their list be more than a thousand, God's list which my name is among will be considered first and so shall it be in Jesus name- Amen.

No matter how precarious the future seems to look, God's will must be done. Everyone( including me) is tensed up because of the unknown outcome. The best we could do now is to be hopeful. I have been following this thread for a long time now and I can say this guy is funny. I enjoy reading his comments.while believing in God, we should not be too quick to disregard comments on politicians hijacking this recruitment. This should push us to pray more and also lookout for someone to help us push our case as the bible says "'heaven helps those who help themselves". If you follow FIRS thread you will know that things has changed in this country and not like before that some parastatals recruit on merit, FIRS recruit used to be on merit before, I can say this because I know people who got it on merit and was even dissapointed with this ongoing recruitment. Anyway, I hope all this God this, God that we are chanting here would be reflected in the work when people eventually become successful. Those in environmental, remember your 'God' when you go for inspection in gas plants or flowstations and the company is flaring more gas than is permissible. When they give your team that $10,000 envelope, and you mellow down your reports, remember that God we call every time here.

Engineering, safety, etc . . . when you land on that rig and the company man hands you that fat envelope after you have gone round and done your inspection. While looking the other way and ticking everything as 'very good', remember that 'God' you were shouting for everybody here.
