A pregnant woman, identified as Olugunna Bukola was, on Thursday, shot by operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State.

Bukola, a staff of IBEDC, Ota, was allegedly shot by the NCS operatives attached to the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) Ikeja, around 7.45a.m. while on her way to the office.

She was hit by bullets on her back and the left side of her body, when the customs officials were on the pursuit of rice smugglers in the area. Bukola was later rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The customs official who shot her was later arrested by policemen attached to Obasanjo Farm police station and later taken to Sango Police Station.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ogun State Customs Area Command, Abdullahi Maiwada, however, confirmed the incident and said the woman was only brushed by stray bullets and not hit, adding that she is responding to treatment.

It is well.

Hopefully nothing happens to you and the baby. The sad part is that after the headline news has gone cold, you usually never hear about the case again.

Same thing with the hundreds of Fulani's getting arrested for robbery, kidnappings and even attacking villages.

Once nobody is paying attention, they are quietly released to continue their mayhem again.

Buharinomics in action

His agents generating money for governments at the expense of the masses

Money wey government dey make wey Nigerians no dey see.

Bukola should file a complaint against the custom because at the end he will be released!

At least eat your own share of the national cake!

See this olodo. What kind of yeye duty is that. U cant just shoot a gun like that most especially when you have innocent citizens around. They have thier van to run after the smugglers.

why such comments. At first the customs don't even need to shot the rice smugglers at first place since it is a residential area.

That PRO saying she was only brushed by tthe bullet, is that supposed to make the incident any better? God forbid, what if the bullet had hit her tummy and she lost her life in the process, wat will you report? Better make sure you deal with that Nonsense custom officer before thunder visit you there... angry angry

isn't high time customer officers remain at the border. killing of innocent people within the street/town as a result of stray bullets is uncalled for.
if the smuggler can escape through the border without being arrest at the border, then extensive overhaul is inevitable.
