Also, evaluation usually take time especially now that most schools are on strike.

a^3b^4c^7 > 0. Which of the following statements must be true?
Indicate all such statements.
1. ab is negative
2. abc is positive
3. ac is positive

I found this in manhattan 5lb and I am still puzzled at why the answer is not 2 and 3. meanwhile, 3 is the answer in the text

Ya, 3 is the answer. For example, if a=1, b=-2, and c=3, a^3b^4c^7 =34992 > 0 but abc=-6 is negative.

The answer is correct. Since the product of the a,b and c positive (I.e >0), then a and c must be positive.

Since 'b' is raised to an even power of 4, then it must be positive. Therefore, since 'a' and 'c' must be positive since each is raised to a negative power.

Note this is a MUST be true and not could be true question.

Option 1 is wrong cos 'a' must be positive for the stated condition to be true. Also, be must be positive since it is raised to an even power. Therefore, (+)(+)=positive

Option 2 is not true since 'b' could be negative and the product of the three numbers would still be positive. The reason been that any number regardless of its sign when raised to an even power would be positive.

I hope you understood delvan's explanation. Well let me just add a bit to it. For the product of the numbers to be greater than 0 then no number is 0 there basic right cheesy

Secondly, all non zero numbers that's positive or negative raised to an even power becomes positive. I mean -2^2 is 4 positive and 4^2 is 16 positive also. So b could be either positive or negative.

Thirdly all numbers raised to an odd power retains the power meaning -2^3 is -8 retaining the negative power while 3^5 is 243 retaining the positive power.

From those premise we realise that a and c must have the same sign, b on the other hand can be negative or positive. So only ac must be positive.

Good luck with your prep.

#Fall 2018 folks I hope we get more positive information like mfarad's own.

I made that statement cos we are still in January. However, given the fact that you have not done your evaluation and other things and more importantly that it's not just about the admission but also about funding,
I would suggest you look at other entry terms.

Hi. I'm still vague when it comes to stuff about GRE. I just got to know about it and I decided to chase a masters in public health (MPH) preferably under scholarship . I know that will require a very high score. In short, I'm just starting to gather information on schools that offer MPH in the US and how I can get scholarship and their required minimum GRE score and I hope you can help me in this regard.

What is your background? And why masters in public health. Public health in the USA hardly gets full funding. I know one exception and the person had terrific volunteering experience combined with years of being a doctor. The best you can be given is partial scholarship, it normally comes in tuition reduction. You still have to take care of room and board, feeding, books, etc.

If you have a background in the pure sciences, i.e. Microbiology, chemistry, etc, I will advice you to seek a masters in those. You have a better chance of getting full funding.

I'm sorry I don't really see it that way super small. Yes its good to post scores for people to learn but when the scores are not good, one feels depressed. I've been there twice and I know how it feels. I believe it takes quite a while depending on one's emotional strength to get over such low score and move on. GRE doesn't even wait after the exam. You will get your result there, as in hot hot. Well its an experience I believe we can conquer when properly armed.

Please to those who didn't do well cheer up. Don't feel bad. You can always better your best,...yes your best! Why because at every point you sit for an exam understand you've done the best preparation you can. You might have failed to achieve a desired score but don't give up. I believe I can do better just as super small says.

Impossible is nothing!
I have been going through this thread to see what I missed. Hence, I came across your post. This your post undermines everything this thread was meant to address. If you benefitted from the thread, share your experience. Others will learn from you, low score or whatever. Sharing experiences could have kept the already dying thread alive. Remember GRE score is just one aspect of your application; there are other aspects that matter. When and if you share your experience and your profile, someone can point you to the right school. There is a school for every GRE score. If you need to rewrite, someone can point out aspects you should focus. But if you choose to hide it, your choice, keep rewriting and rewriting. Na you sabi

I noticed the group is dying already because its purpose has been defeated. Most eminent contributors like scholastica 16 and others are being reticent because of the evasiveness and covertness of we the new set. If I have not forgotten, people would post test experiences, results and even advice prospective test takers, an habit that is now moribund. I will suggest "Pming" should stop for now or else if only the need calls for it and all information should be post directly on the thread. I will also suggest that everyone should post their stats so as to know who to direct a particular question to, if you support this motion, like this post and if you do not, just click on share.

Well written. It seems you are one of the few persons that truly care about this thread. Keep it up!

Took the GRE on 4th January. I couldn't afford to quit my job so I had to manage.I work everday and weekends(Saturday and Sunday). So it was really tasking to prepare and write the GRE. My prep was done in snatches;in Lagos yellow buses, during lunch breaks,in between work lulls etc. Took 1st to 3rd January off to cram in as much work as possible. All of my work was Quant focused.
Test day was ok. The 3+ hours didn't affect me since all my exams in the university lasted for at least 3 hours. After this long story,my scores were:
Q- 157
V- 158
GPA- 4.67/5 (Pharmacy)
Prospective course of study- Biotechnology,Genetic engineering-Still haven't decided yet.
I am a bit disappointed with the verbal score because I scored as high as 164 in my Powerprep test (Didn't prep for verbal though since English has always been my forte)but slightly elated with the Q score as my cold diagnostic was a mere 144.I'm thinking of taking two weeks off and rewriting since I know I can easily smash the 325 mark with focused prep. To all prospective test writers, u can do it!
Thanks for sharing though not thorough. Great scores. Great profile. I believe you should have finished your application by now. Biotechnology has lots of funding. Hopefully, you get into a great program.

I already talked about my study schedule and the simple strategies I applied on test day.

Great score. I love your verbal score. Please can you share tips on how to conquer that verbal because you did just that. Hope you nailed other aspects of your application? How are the decisions coming in?

Hello guys. I want to share my GRE experience. I only found this thread like 2 weeks ago. I took mine in August 2017, 8:30am sharp.

The analytical went well. As soon as I saw the issue task question, I thanked my stars that I had used the 'GRE AWA' android app. The topic was something about things getting more complex and incomprehensible as humans gain more knowledge.
I had already seen a similar topic before and although I had not actually practiced that topic, being familiar with it helped calm down my nerves. I didn't have too much problems with the argumentative either.

The other sections were in the order QVQVQ. The first 2 quant sets were quite easy so I'm guessing one of them is the experimental section. The last section? Oh boy!! My scores in the powerprep quant sections prior to the test had given me some confidence. By I was clearly not well prepared enough for what I faced in the actual test. The questions were slightly more difficult and time consuming, and as someone who was targeting a perfect quant score, I found this quite frustrating. The level of difficulty for the verbal section was roughly similar to that of the powerprep. There weren't as many esoteric words as there are in the 5lb Manhattan prep questions

At the end of the test, I got 163Q, 156V and a week later, an analytical score of 4.5. I was slightly dissapointed with my quant score because 2 days before my actual test, I took the 2nd powerprep test and scored 168Q, 158V.

But it's still good. All thanks to God

Hello. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it . I studied Medicine in undergrad and I have just always had a predilection for Public health, don't know why smiley. But with this info you just gave about partial funding or no funding at all, I don't mind reconsidering my choices. So please based on your experience and people you know, which masters course in the US with full scholarship funding do you think is good for a doctor?
