The fewer features they can put now is benefitiial to them next year's release. If they add 8gb of RAM now, what will they add next. So they too are playing the waiting game because the other big boys in the game are no longer competitive as before, Samsung kncoked them all far back. And I don't blame them. If Samsung sells a flagship for $800 with all the bells and whistles, and LG or Sony decide to make similar phone and sell for same amount, people will buy 10 of the Samsung before someone buys the Sony or LG. And if they decide to reduce the price, by how much lower can they go before they operate at a loss? This is why all the Chinese phone makes cut some corners to keep things balanced, even OnePlus cut corners. A company can make a flagship phone with exact same materials as a Samsung and sell it for $400-$500, but people would look at the price and the brand name and say they rather buy a Samsung.. to most cheaper means low quality.

Where I blame LG is they could have capitalized on the shortcomings of the Galaxy note 7 to sell their v20. The v20 was the closest big screen phone to the note 7, after Samsung took the note 7 off the shelves LG could have gone and aggressive marketing to introduce the v20.

In 2013, Samsung put all the bells and whistles in the S4; but the LG G2, HTC One M7, and Sony Xperia Z all were actual contenders that you could easily pick over the Samsung S4 despite having roughly the same or lower price.

Or HTC One M7 exquisite design and Boom Sound versus S4's joke called speakers?

What about Xperia Z Omni-balance design and fluid UI versus S4's Lag Wiz?

Remember when SAMOLED used to have cartoony, over-saturated, unnatural colors. And LCD actually look better in day to day usage.

The issue is that if you want to use these ranges to classify phones as low-end, mid or high-end, then there's the danger of lumping devices that ordinarily would at most be solid mid devices as high-end devices. And it can be confusing for those who want to upgrade to high end devices because it is all muddled up.

Global classification is even expanding. Low end is now mainly Android One level devices. Mid range is divided into lower mid-tier/range and upper mid-tier/range. Then you have flagship killers--OnePlus, ZTE Axon et cetera. Then the main flagships. And at the highest level, the premium or luxury phones--the Note, iPhone X, Mate Pro et cetera--the $1000 phones...

It's weird over here because we're not a high income country but most people buy true low-end devices. And I think sticking to the price range classification as our local reviewers do and not adjoining a low-end, mid-range, and high-end nomenclature is okay. As we transform into a high income country, with wages increasing, we'd sublimely adjust our price range classification accordingly and adopt the more useful low-end to luxury or premium nomenclature.

well, it is but when you compare that price tag to that of other brands like Samsung, Asus, Apple, Huawei itself, etc, you will understand that a 200+ smartphone is really low end. Besides, Huawei themselves call it low end so why shouldn't they?. It doesnt matter whether a blogger is refering to Nigerian audience, the fact that the Naira is so valueless compared to the US Dollar doesnt make a low end device mid range or flagship

LG don't make special phones for Nigeria bro. It's the same thing sold everywhere. Though I've only experienced bootloop once with g3, I haven't experienced anything of such on my v20. But generally bootloop is the problem of LG phones. At least 3 out of 10 of their phones suffer from bootloop one time or the other.

What are you saying? Have you actually used a G6 and it bootlooped, just because you saw it somewhere on the internet you just decided to say G6 bootloops. The Major bootloop in LG Mobile is the devices that used Snapdragon 808 and 810, and it was a faul from Snapdragon because the chips weren't made by LG. LG thought the chips were Good so they made A Heaven on Earth kind of Phone, The G4 Specs and Camera Quality was too Good for the Bad Chips to carry them, LG made mind-blowing phones but the Snapdragon 808 and 810 chip really messed them up. Else why did Samsung Skip this 2 chips and decided to make theirs. Coukd you ever name a Mobile Phone that actually used aperture 1.7 aside from LG G4 (till date that is the best camera ever on a Smartphone-- I stand to be corrected) the G4 camera was actually compared to a DSLR worth over $1500 (check youtube to confirm) The bootloop was because of the bad chips
