We've been sayimg the same thing since 2008. Smalling is a semi-professional footballer. He was playing non-league football, Fulham signed him, then Fergie made a bid for him few games into his Fulham career. He went from non-league to Utd in 6 months. How do you expect him to pass ball like a Professional footballer? One thing he had that made Fergie spot him was a good sense of danger and good physicality, but he remains in essence an amateur footballer without proper professional training in his formative years.
