hello there. should i keep waiting or i should do something about it now? the thing is i have been cleared since several days ago and i have that authority to pay tab on my portal too. but i havent been able to do the online medicals registration yet. i tried to register with my home address and i created a password, a mail was sent to my yahoo seconds after. i opened the mail and it was almost blank. there was just "dear Samuel" and a black horizontal line after it. tried again multiple times..i think 15 times precisely, same outcome. used different browsers and laptops too. yesterday i tried to login to the jaja portal with the details i tried to use for registration. it said successful and started to redirect but at the end it didnt leave the registration page. is anyone encountering the same problem or can someone help out a brother here? cry

true bro. I haven't given it much thought from that angle. but another problem is that without being cleared we can't print "Authority to Pay" . with the halls of residence only able to accommodate 30% of students. my worry is that by the time we are cleared all available rooms would have been paid for & allocated

All freshers and finalists are entitled to an accommodation space. So be rest assured that you're part of the 30% no matter how long it takes you to get cleared. Unless you decide to give up your privilege, you'll surely get accommodation

Good day guys.. As it stands now, we don't need a soothsayer to tell us that the April 15th resumption is no longer feasible. Honestly, like you, I'm tired of staying at home but that wouldn't stop me from saying the truth. Here are some of the reasons the resumption won't be 15th of April as published in the school calendar.
1. Clinical Professional Fee or whatever it's called
2. Accommodation fee hike
3. VC's meeting with the senate (which he explicitly stated that if the feedback was late, there'll be a shift in the resumption date)
4. Roofing of Tedder Hall and SUB... (Do you honestly think they'll let you resume without fixing up those places?)
5. To top it all, the admission process is far from done. (You have to be a magician if you think clearance, hall balloting, fees payment and regularization will all happen in a week)

The resumption is most likely next month or 29th of April.
Please keep calm and wash more plates cheesy grin grin. Play with your junior ones and let them know you're around. Participate in church and mosque so they'll feel your absence when you resume. Eat more food and prepare your brain for the task ahead.

God bless the University of Ibadan

The post before the post above mine ; The bitter truth.

Keep your anxiety in check guyz, resumption is certain before the end of the month of May. The twist is that no one (except the school's management) can authoritatively affirm the date.

Nonetheless, let your presence at home for the time being be very memorable. Contribute your quota to social developmental program in your community and strengthen your relationship with your family members and friends.

BTW. . .who else got an invitation to the stakeholders meeting scheduled to hold on Tuesday in UI? undecided

Keep calm and prepare for April 15th, that's what UI's academic calendar says. Renovation & whatever they're doing will not be a hindrance, if there's a new piece of information the VC will hint on it on his Fb page etc.

Tuesday is the stakeholders meeting, go and speak for us those who live in Ibadan. I want to see young men speaking respectfully their minds to those in Ivory academic towers. Don't stay here on NL bringing up hypothesis & ranting on end.

Let's change the face of UI via being proactive. Spreading positive ideas everywhere. No more complaints, whining, ranting, we choose to grow up. Be bigger than this. Get busy, study your books, work on your spiritual growth etc, the journey is long and far. Only the strong at heart can reach the finish line.

Are you one of them?!

We acknowledged whatever reasons that made the management arrived at an increment as relatively justifiable but tried to reach a compromise much lower than the 30k; about 18k-20k.

The Management in its defence of its decision; largely because it no longer receives funds from the fed govt to fund and maintain the halls were resolute in their stand but after much pleading, bargaining and complaints, the VC promised that the senate will review its decision and get back to us soon.

We hope they get back to us earlier before the proposed date of resumption and if not, in the words of the VC himself, "if the meeting isn't held next week then resumption will be postponed till we get a response from them".

UItes are hereby urged to await the response from the Senate before any payment of school fees or accommodation is made.

Too bad the greater part of students are not on NL.... Especially we the new students, I don't know about the others, but the ones I am touch with, we just wanna resume... not that we love the new fees but we are not attached to the old ones like the rest of you guys. I bet you, the only thing stopping most freshers is that "Authority to Pay" ... Especially when the V.C keeps saying the Halls of residence only takes about 30% of students, most of us are from out of town, we don't have friends yet we can squat with if we don't get to be among that 30%...
Re: University Of Ibadan(UI) 2017/2018 Admission Thread by Ibrosco: 10:57am On Apr 08, 2018
I think the resumption date won't be postponed, the dvc was interviewed yesterday No fewer than seven buildings including the Students’ Union (SU) building, two halls of residence, Chemistry Laboratory at International School, Ibadan and some buildings within the premises of University of Ibadan (UI) were badly damaged as a result of a heavy rainfall that wrecked havoc in some parts of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital Friday night.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the institution, Prof. Emilolorun Aiyelari who addressed journalists Saturday shortly after assessing the level of damage at the institution, said other affected buildings include: halls of residence such as Tedder and Bello halls and some departments in the Faculty of Agriculture.

Also affected is an electricity transformer at the SU building which was also damaged during the rain.

Aiyelari however said the institution was yet to ascertain what it will cost it to fix the damaged property as at the time of the assessment Saturday morning.

He stressed that the damages will not affect the academic activities in the institution.

Aiyelari said “We have recorded a lot of damages, unquantified for now, when we are through, we will be able to know how much it will cost. We have three major roofs removed. One in Tedder hall, two buildings in the departments.“The other one is the International School (ISI) where the main building, the administrative building covering the Chemistry laboratory were removed. We have gone round, there are some other problems here and there, at Bello hall where we have slight damages, then the dome. It was heavy rainfall yesterday.

“This will not affect our academic activities because our students are on holiday except the post graduate students writing their projects. You know we are resuming 16th of this month. We will have enough time to fix these and repair them.

When asked to speak on what it would cost the institution to fix the damages, Aiyelari said he cannot determine the amount because they were still assessing the damages.

His words, “I can’t say for now, like I said earlier, by evening we will be able to quantify how much it will cost. But let me say that we have three roofs removed, we have to fix them. Let me also say that transformer at our SU building was damaged and since then the whole campus has been experiencing power outage since yesterday night. We want to isolate that area so that other areas will not be affected.”

Morning to all the bosses in here.

To me, the postponement of the resumption date solely depends on what the school wants to be sincere. You all may think that one week is not enough to address all the issues the school is facing now but I'll like to say that it's very much possible for them to address those issues just in one week, if not all, at least to a state that'll be comfortable for the students to go on with their academic activities. As for the admission process, as I've said earlier, it still depends on the school and by the way, if not for all other issues that came up recently, the school knows the situation of the admission process before they postpone the resumption date to April 15, so the admission process should not be a problem.

As for the hike in the school fees, I mean the training fee and accommodation fee, it's no issue. First, the accommodation fee can never be reduced and nothing can be done on that because UI will tell you that it's optional and that you'll pay more than that if you wanna get an accommodation outside the school. As for the training fee, it's a pity that Nigeria has turn to what it is today but another fact is that, even if UI agrees to reduce the fee, it'll only last for few years, they'll raise the thing in the next 2 or 3 years, so what are we saying, we just don't have any option than to accept and look up to God for help. May God be with us all...(Amin).

Anyway, I'll be counting on the DVC words nitemi cox seriously ile to su mi....
