Explain why we were deadlier when Nacho came on for Ighalo if Mikel finding Ighalo was the problem to you. I repeat, our problem was poor movement up front.

Finito.
you have made this all about iheanacho. na wa

I didn't follow the trend, but with this, are you saying no improvement can be done to this team?
Same tactics next game?
Same style?
No... I think the 3-5-2 is the way. An Iheanacho, though not a bully, is better than Ighalo. Ighalo without being fed is useless and when fed, There's a over 90% chance that he'll miss them. Ighalo being a bully is nonsense. He ain't no sh!t.

Una don start? Fine ighalo played badly, but why calling sadiq umar? You think say world cup na childs play?

What makes you think sadiq umar will do better.

Oga make una wait after the world cup abeg, you dey call sadiq umar,a player who is yet to play 20 club football games in his career.

Make una take una time for this thread,i just dey look all of una yesterday dey laff,i made a post before the match that if we loose we go see different coaches and now you are one of them.

Ighalo did not start playing poorly yesterday.. He has been bad for a long time for Nigeria.

With all the games, that Ighalo has played, he still offers nothing..

His goal return for Nigeria is terrible. Terrible!! There is no running away from it.

My statements on Ighalo did not start because of the loss. I have been saying this for a long time about Ighalo before the WC. Icon4s raised similar concerns on Ighalo.

Exactly my good man. Mediocrity it is... And that is what I wanna see booted out in our next game.

As for our midfield... Mikel did his best as AMF and even pressed so high up the final third helping Ighalo in the press. He created a few chances here and there but that is all there was to his game. Mikel was decent and matched Modric for most parts of the game. The battle between both was so fierce.
Ighalo's poor off-the-ball movements also made matters kinda worse upfront when we had the ball. He did make some fine touche and held the ball up well on a few occasions but he flunked with his sad off-the-ball movements. He was no threat up top.

In all, I still want a Mikel stepping back to CM with Iwobi more advanced as AM and Ndidi as DM. Mikel's positional intelligence and discipline gained in his decade of playing DM combined with Ndidi's tactical ruggedness and Iwobi's dare/creativity ahead of both could give us a huge chance going forward. Like I once or twice or even thrice before have said... That combo could be our own Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets.

Mikel as CM playing closer to Ndidi could see him still dictate play from deep. We need to also consider this.

Thumbs up bro.......but rohr will never see it this way

Yes, I know... I saw all those comments and the debate that ensued on my return many pages ago. And I have also mentioned this combo even before my last thread absence before I returned.

Thing is.. I just try to comment on issues as they go.

Let’s forget about any player outside the 23 here now.

But as regards Umar, there is a strong chance he was among the pool of 50 players later trimmed down to 35, and then 30.

andrew444:

Fine

But is sadiq umar at the world cup that the guy is mentioning? Nigerians should learn to accept what they have at the moment.

I am not sure the coach has ever dreamt of sadiq umar, but many dreamers here.

But his fans will not agree

Before the WC, i spoke about Ighalo. He offers no sense of danger. He does not chase after 50-50 balls with the defenders, off the ball runs non-existent, he does not take on defenders. I do not know if he was conserving energy. Way too static..

Yes ighalo is playing badly but why mentioning umar sadiq? is he at the world cup? why will you say he will do better? have he earn a cap yet?

If he earn a cap then you can talk if he will do better or not.

I also love wingers who can cross. I actually love the best of both worlds... traditional crossing wingers and inverted wingers. Gives us varieties of attack.

But what you say is true and I have stressed it before. One pass can do quicker damage than a dribble of five players.

The power of a creative pass is so much that it carries raised to the power of 10 what a dribble of opponents will try to achieve.

The problem is even at this stage, Rohr’s starting lineup is very predictable. Mikel will play as AM again. Ighalo and Shehu would start.

Ighalo offers nothing.. No aggression, no runs nothing.. It is not a coincidence that he goes on extended barren runs for club and country. If Iheanacho is given as much time as Ighalo, he would do better, I have no doubt. Sadiq Umar as raw as he is, will do better.

fact..

Shehu offers nothing going forward, we had zero width from both fullbacks. How he gets selected over Ebuehi is a mystery.

in the match against Serbia Ebuehi was just as bad offensively. the truth of the matter is that as a fullback playing the same wing with a winger like VicMo in a world cup where more emphasis is laid on not losing as against winning then you can't blame Shehu at all.

I have told you people the same thing over and over again but you guys have continued with your false doctrine.

Iheanancho was good in the game against South Africa but the midfield failed in taking advantage of his runs. Yet you people want to blame Iheanacho for the midfield not finding him.

Now Ighalo offered little movement upfront and now you people want to blame Mikel for our conservative style.

Playing Mikel deeper means you guys want Iwobi or Iheanacho in attack midfield to support Ighalo because he is not capable of causing defenders problem.

It might work but it kills our three man midfield combos who can contribute defensively and keep us compact in the Middle. To take advantage of this, we need movement upfront. This was our problem, not Mikel.

When Iheanacho entered, with Mikel in the side, we were deadlier. It is so easy to see. Look at the window when Iheanacho attacked and tell me we would not have cause the Croatians more problems.
OH please stop this. Iheanacho managed just one way word shot that flew 2 meters over the bar in the 30mins or so that he featured. He basically didn't do anything else of note.
One expects the no10 or ATM will be able to hold the ball, beat his man and drive through traffic to create chances for his team. Don't you watch De Bryn, Ozil, Coutinho, Ericson? Can you draw any parallel line with what they do and what Mikel served up last night?

Even the Kelechi you're championing, was he not in the game against Poland where he dropped a 4/10 average? Please give me a break.

Ohhh honestly Sir Joebie... What else can I say? But I pray that even if and if Mikel should play AM then for goodness sake bench an Ighalo or a Shehu... Bench one plsss... Haba! In fact bench both! Mikel still offers presence in our midfield but the other two have better upgrades on the bench.

But I honestly wish to see Mikel step back into CM coz I need Iwobi to have his mad driving freedom to do and undo.

if an inverted winger cannot cross then that is a minus in his game. and as coach i wont field two inverted wingers as in i must field one good crosser on the wings. it was crosses that russia used in finishing saudi, same thing iran v morrocco.
