African teams are big disgrace, they could not even hold on at the last minute, almost all African teams conceded last minute goals... even when victory was hand over to Nigeria In a plate, they threw it away... now look at small teams advancing to the quarter finals, this should have been an opportunity for an African country to make it to the semis, instead they all went home at the group stage, all five of em ,infact African countries should be given only one slot... if possible, banned from the World Cup, they are all useless.

De Gea has got to come up in pressure moments to show he's the best and so far failed at the big stage world cup. Casillas might not be what he used to be now but he will far be remembered as the greater keeper. Spain change of coach finally did hurt them at last. Diego shouldn't have come off as he was the xfactor to their otherwise passing game. Rather a midfielder should've been taken off for an additional strike partner upfront. Hierro clearly wasn't prepared for this and wasn't his fault.

Casillas was great all the times he kept for Spain. He was a big moment player that contributed immensely to the successes of Spain in Euro 2008, WC 2010 and Euro 2012, however, he was made a sacrificial lamb in the WC 2014 disaster that I believe was unfair. Though he had dip in form in 2016 but right now he's at a better level.

De gea is very good but not as good as Casillas. Casillas was a complete player and great keeper of penalties, he was one of the best in the world for many years (contending with Buffon). We can't say same of De gea

De gea failed to concentrate while akinfeev was awesome.

Removal of Costa was another blunder, at least Costa could have scored his own penalty.

They have players that can run at the Russian defence and cause troubles but chose to knock the ball around with the hope of opening up some space for themselves... Iniesta came on, i thought he would run at their defense but instead preferred knocking the ball around too.

Knocking which ball around? When next you watch football, watch it the TV and not the back of the TV. You want to run in there defense and fight them with your hands while the ball is in your feet? There was no space to run into their defence. the played a 5-3-2 formation, so what do you want to run into? you want Iniesta to run into a 5 man defense like he's some sort of bulldozer? Something Messi with all his dribbling skills couldn't do?? Mtcheew.

De gea is a complete crap of a keeper. Madrid shouldn't even bother replacing Keylor with him...no single attempt at punching the ball.
I was really hoping Spain would go through this one for the sake of Asensio, Ramos, Isco, Nacho & Carvajal. After all the 1,200+ completed passes Spain had compared to 200+ of Russia yet the Russians sent them out. Brazil should get ready for theirs so it gets even for big name countries.
