Similar thing happened in 1999 when Tinubu become governor and released some prisoners with trivial issues. A guy who was among the released had been awaiting trial since 1985. The police arrested him while he was washing his Danfo bus around 8pm infront of his house during their random raiding. He said he was detained for few weeks and when no one came to look for him and the cell was getting congested they had to transfer them to Kirikiri to wait for their trial. And similar thing still persist till date especially with SARS arranging kangaroo court and sending people to Badagry maximum prison.
