Hi all, I'm just reading all comments regarding family reunion, and I'm a bit confused as to how to go about mine. Pls I'll appreciate anyone's response. I currently live and study in cyprus, and i just got married in Hungary to a hungarian citizen, but he lives and work in Germany. The home office in germany said that i have to go to my home country to apply for a resident permit. Do I have to come back to Nigeria to apply for family reunion visa since he is an European? The Hungarian Immigration said I can only get resident permit if my husband and I live in hungary. Pls advice.. thanks. 1 Like 1 Share |

Well the only way you can apply for the family reunion visa from another country is if you have a resident permit in that country. Since you're in Cyprus for Study it means you do not have a resident permit in Cyprus (Correct me if I'm wrong here) nor in Hungary where you had your wedding ceremony, hence its sad to say but you'd have to return back to Naija to start the process and complete the verification. Your spouse at the moment can only support with filling your aplication in Germany and submitting the required documents in the home office. That being said, resident permit is the key word here and I dunno how long it takes and the requirements to get that in Cyprus or Hungary, hence, Naija is your only fast and simple way to join your spouse in Germany. Justlanded: This is so complicated sha. If you can get a resident permit in Hungary (let your husband file for you) then apply for Germany spouse reunion as a Hungarian resident. The other part is to go to Nigeria and apply. First book a date for spouse renewal visa and travel to Nigeria at least a day before your interview. Do the interview and wait for the embassy decision. Kinda complicated but I don't know what you can do other than what the German Embassy already said. Don't take my advice as a legal advice oh. |

Thanks @Sam.. yes I do have resident permit in cyprus.. but I checked the immigration website in hungary, and it says after marriage you can apply for a resident permit, hopefully that works or I apply from cyprus if its possible from here. Thanks once again for your quick response. |

Depends on how you package your resume and your LinkedIn profile. God knows I get around 4 linkedin messages every week looking for people with my particular IT skills. Do you have good Linux skills ? Windows or Cloud Computing ? You might not get IT support but maybe a systems engineer job. Check Stack Overflow and xing.com cmoney1987: 1 Like |

I agree with you.Since her hubby has a residence permit in Germany or an EU card holder,it shouldnt be a big deal for her but they will definitely require her marriage certificate as well.I wish you the best Sam8850: |

The embassy already knows which institution are allowed conduct language testing. She needs to get certified by the embassy I believe. Otherwise she teaches but the students still go to goethe institute for their exam. 9japrof: |

World wide Azure is not as big as aws. Don't limit yourself to Azure. I've done Azure aws and gcloud before. Aws is the biggest. cmoney1987: |

Man, I have a job already in Berlin. Resumption date is supposed to be on the 15th. Still no visa appointment. This is crazy. I have the Federal Government agency thing and my signed work contract. Everything, Just an appointment. It's crazy they say even slots in March are filled. Stupid and dumb question, but Is there some kind of way to hasten the visa appointment process? I really have to leave the country before the end of the month or 2nd week of February latest. ( Booking a late flight is not an issue ). 1 Like 1 Share |

lordally: Yeah, first degree is key but it'd be possible to get a good paying job as a developer in Nigeria if you are good enough. I don't have a university degree. Dropped out of Unilorin when I was 18 ( 300L, Midway 2nd semester ). No, I didn't have terrible grades. my CGPA was 3.2 ( might have been better if I attended classes and read weeks prior to exams rather than just photocopying colleagues notes a week or 2 before examinations) I am 22 now, I have a 400K ( post taxes) job in Nigeria ( 300K when I was 21 ). It just depends on skillsets and learning. I had a pretty popular tech blog ( not Samsung and Tecno phone crap but real tech programming stuff) and my GitHub was good enough. You will be rejected, Sure thing. But use that as fuel to doing more and improving. While I make enough as a developer and I am comfortable than most people in the country will ever be, I am pressing forward to conquer the world plus Nigeria is starting to be seriously unsafe for young successful people. I just booked my flight to Berlin in the later part of this month. 6 Likes 1 Share |

temitayoolu: Lol baba, let me not calm down o. At this stage, it might be dependent on the company to wait or not. |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by temitayoolu(m): 6:26pm On Jan 17, 2019 |
The company would wait if you explain to them very well. Do they have an agency here in Germany managing your process ? Do they know the expectation ? Do they know it might take 3 - 6 months ? Make sure expectations are clear. therealclown: |

temitayoolu: The problem isn't with writing the exams, you can register for the exam and take a flight to Lagos and max three days you're out. But expecting me to put my life on hope to stay in Lagos to learn the language is the headache. |
