Hi guys, what is your take on this genetically modified foods available in stores like the real canadian superstore ? I am seriously bothered by the long term effects of taking such foods. What would you all advise ? What is the best way to handle this ? Is there an alternative ? 3 Likes |

There's an international airport in Ottawa (https://yow.ca/en) If you can get a direct flight there, I don't see why not juicebox: 1 Like |

Guitarlife:Someone once said "the crops we have today were genetically modified over thousands of years" through natural methods and sometimes through human intervention. The ones I will avoid are those modified using animal genes. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I stay with my cousin and his wife does her best to avoid them. Long term effect might not be something we can determine but avoiding it is better to skip stories that touch. There are always organic versions of everything. They are usually a few cents more expensive though. Guitarlife: 3 Likes |

Good day Seniors and all. I am happy to have gone through the last thread and this new one. You are indeed doing a great job. I can gladly say I am part of this thread now. I submitted my application since October 2019, glory to God, I got my PPR Jan 15, 2019 and my application has been approved too. I will be picking up my Passport from VFS this week. I intend to land in Calgary in MAY, 2019. Below are my profile and questions - Single Applicant (Age: 33) - Education (Bsc Geology, Msc. Petroleum Geology) - Certification: - Advanced Food Safety management training (A pre-arrival program sponsored by the Canadian government) - CCNA & CCNP (Expired since 2012) - Several Oil & Gas training courses - Work experience. - Current: Realtor/Real Estate agent (3 yrs) - Previous: (Water Borehole Geologist (3 yrs) (1) I understand I will need the APEGA licence to work and also that the oil & Gas sector of Alberta is quite down now, I would have loved to work in this sector. Has anyone gotten a job on landing as a Geologist without the licence? (2) I also understand that I need a licence to practice in the Real Estate sector too. Has anyone gotten a job as a Realtor or Real Estate Agent with monthly pay (plus commission) in Calgary, If yes, how viable & financially rewarding is it? I wouldn't mind doing a short course for this if I can truly get a job quick in the sector. I also don't mind referrals (3) I did the Pre-arrival Advanced food safety management training course (it is a 21- certificates course). Do we have anyone here working in the food processing industry, can I get a job on landing with this certificates. (3) Lastly, I am open to new opportunities and don't mind changing career path as long as I can get a good job. If I am to do this. Which other paths and sectors can I explore that will be financially rewarding in the long run, which will also lead me to the managerial position someday. Pls note, I am ready to go back to school and do diploma course for this. I already checked out some courses in SAIT, but I need to know which one is really viable with huge job prospect. - I am sorry for my long post, I would like inputs from our seniors living in Calgary. cc Salford1, Einsteino etc. Thanks - Can someone Pls add me to the calagary whatsapp group. Thanks 12 Likes 4 Shares |

Guitarlife: My guy, just chop it like that - it is part of the obodo oyibo life. Except you are buying direct from a Farmer's market (not cheap), whatever you find in the store whether tagged organic or not is mostly GMO'd. I was also like you at some point and contributed my widow's mite to enriching Jeff Bezos by faithfully buying organic products from Whole Foods. Well, I watched a documentary and did some research on what the US FDA requirements were before a produce could be tagged as organic and I realized it was just a pot of beans. Think Ikoyi cemetery and Yaba cemetery...Lol. Anyway, if you are big on non-GMO'd food, I'd suggest you look to owning a garden where you can grow regulars or fork out the cash at any Farmer's market closest to you. 9 Likes 3 Shares |
