Detention would have worked in Nigeria if and only if we had that kind of free space available with furnitures and prolly air conditioned. Classroom self no dey u wan use the available hall do detention. 4 Likes |

OkaNaUbe:the fact is society differs. Undoubtedly, punitive measures are meant to make the student a better person. The whites put you in detention so you will have enough time to think about what you have done wrong. On the other hand, the blacks either beat you blue black there by making you a bully and self-destructive. The blacks also throw you in the bush to cut grasses or big tress. The question is, will you be able to think about being a better person will cutting the grasses or a better farmer? 2 Likes 2 Shares |

In Nigeria stubborn children too plenty. The detention you want to send them to they see it as flexing, cause most are not ready to learn. They would just go on detention and start annoying the teacher. If you served in a school during Nysc especially village school, you would know that even coming to school is luxury to some students to escape farm work, not because of the learning but the escaping. Then giving them detention is sleeping flexing. You would see students who would trek to school just to go on detention 2 Likes |

pretty good reason why our students are always better. a child trained in the white man country has a 75% chance of being arrogant. 2 Likes |

Different strokes for different folks, detention are for students who will not trek under wicked ultra-violet rays looking for job After graduation.Their punishment prepares them for life after school just as ours. Its all a matter of how good is the country. If we were given detention as punishment,by now this country for don kill us,the caning and labour made us strong enough for the reality of the shithole called Nigeria |

wetdick:To add to your point,In America, kids are scared of social workers cus there are stories of rape and maltreatment of kids by social workers,so some parents spank their kids threatening them with social workers if they report.People over here in 9ja always have a good image of the U.S thanks to Hollywood while nollywood is busy giving us cossy orjiakor 2 Likes |

MyGeneration:Our kids are more obedient than kids over there, untill you meet one white kid you will continue to think Naija kids are terrible.White kids take school less seriously than our kids except you are from Borno,Kano,Kaduna and the northern environs.White kids hates detention becuase they could have been using that time to be shagging with pills, both contraceptives and recreational pills after.Little Girls are not proud of virginity there. |
