Good morning everyone It feels good to be here. Please I have some questions to ask friends on this platform for clarity sake. I have been booked for an interview at the US embassy, and it happened that my form i..20 bears the name of the company whose financial documents I submitted to the school during my admission application as my sponsor. Along the line, just of recent an aunt of mine has been willing to give me her statement of account along side with a letter of sponsorship. My question now is this, should I forgo the company's statement of account and go with my aunt's own since she is willing to be the sponsor or is it advisable to go with the both statement of account with the notion that I have two sponsors. Then lastly, I also want to know the approach one needs to follow while going to embassy if you have a company as a sponsor? Thanks you. molosfaith86: |

Okeyogwo: This question has been answered several times , you can go with your aunty's own but just to avoid story that touch , mail the school and inform them about the sponsors change , submit your aunty statement and ask them to issue a new i20 carrying her name . |

Scott200: Sorry man... Did you apply to only top 20 universities? Did you get a/an supervisor/advisor before you submitted your applications? Any publications at all? What's your class ranking? Did you do the TOEFL to compensate for the low GRE verbal score? Apparently, you don't have a Masters degree and your application is likely to contend with applicants who have masters degree and also stellar GRE scores, that's another view though. What's your research interest and how did you present them to potential supervisors or graduate coordinators? How strong is your SOP and LORs? Did your references turn those letters in as at when due? My two cents is that you should apply for a chemistry program and make sure you ask for space before you throw your money away. Also, Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) is likely to waive Out-of-state tuition for you. Check their Chemical Engineering program out. Best!! 3 Likes |

jhulee: It's not too early to apply for visa. Also, your company can sponsor you, it's completely doable. If it's a legit process, then you have no reason to be worried. I only hope the degree you're going for is directly related to your duties at your company. You should be fine if everything is positive and you can defend your case convincingly. Best!! |

You can Lodge at Saint Mathias Hotel in Utako there in Abuja. U can get a cab from the hotel there to the US embassy for 500 niara. The hotel is very close to the embassy. That's were I lodge when I went for my interview last week. Good luck! martAKINOLA: 1 Like |

8k for week days, but 6k for weekends. If you go to the embassy with ur phone, you will have to drop it with some hustlers at the gate entrance because you will not be allowed to enter the embassy with your phone. And those hustlers charge for keeping your phone for you. They may charge you 1500 for big Android phone. I went with a Nokia touch light phone and pay 200 for them to keep it for me. Make sure all your documents are complete if not those guys hustling at the gate will charge you like 2k to print just one page. orimahspence: 2 Likes |

Scott200: @Scot200, Your GPA and GRE are very good. However PhD applications are "very" competitive in top programs. Please remember that you're competing with highly determined Indians here...so mix your school selections better. Maybe look towards 2 or more historically black universities too. Also, publications and research experience are very vital selection criteria in PhD applications, so did you include any of these? As someone just advised you, try to reach out to program coordinators and Profs before applying. Profs may not reply immediately, but program coords always do. It might be late to get funding (full or partial) now, but check out state universities especially in Tennessee. Cheers mate! 1 Like |

Please friends I am about to request that my school change my sponsor which will also lead to processsing a new form I...20 for me. The new sponsor being my aunt has about 13M+ in his account statement which is a personal account, while the school is requesting a minimum of 11M for international students. My question is this, will my school offer me form i...20 with an account statement of 13M. Secondly, on the other hand, a company has promised to offer me sponsorship and there account statement reads over 26M. My question then is which of this sponsor's financial documents do you advice me to go with considering the embassy interview that will also come up later after issuance of I..20. Thank you all as I expect responses from you all. GboyegaD: |

Okeyogwo: They will send your i20 with that balance you have on your statement of account. Secondly a personal account is always better than a company account |

Hey Guys. I got a New International Passport, and when I was booking an appointment for us Embassy interview I couldn't change the old International Passport Number to the new International Passport Number. The old International Passport will expire in August, that was why I went to do a new International Passport. I have sent an email to the US embassy using the feed back section to send the mail and they keep replying me that they have updated my International Passport with the new one that I should log in to see it. But when ever I log in, I still see the old passport number showing... The new passport number never reflect. Hope this won't be an issue if I go to the interview with my appointment form bearing my old passport number and my DS-160 bearing my new passport number. Please I need your advice. |

I just got a full tuition Scholarship for undergraduate study but I'd need funds to cover feeding and accommodation. How can one get a student loan without a US cosigner? 1 Like |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by GboyegaD(m): 10:20pm On Apr 02, 2019 |
Sarcasticmofo: Rather than get a loan can you get a relative who can bear the cost at least for the first alongside your parents? I believe you stand a chance of increasing your scholarship amount should you do very well in your program. In my opinion, the idea of a loan for an undergraduate program sounds over ambitious to me and in particular, the returns on the investment upon return to Nigeria might not be so great considering that our Naira is yet to be stable. Thinking from an extreme of the spectrum. 2 Likes |
