If pushing Google and Android aside is a thing, BB and Microsoft would still have a significant portion of the mobile market. But that's not the case.

China's pushing American brands out/boycotting them will actually favor the US and hurt China - badly - at the long run.

The US brands already control the larger portion of the global mobile market for apps, content and software . They also, almost exclusively, control hardware R & D and future innovations. All China does is to steal IP and copy.

So, all they need to take China down in a hurry is an incentive to design new hardware brands and move productions to friendly South East Asian and Central American countries - or even back to the US.

Forcing them out of the Chinese (production) market would give a boost to that much needed incentive.

Where I actually think China has an edge is in its significant control of global shipping logistics. But this too can be dealt with.

The world is a global village and it only makes sense for goods to be sourced from the cheapest sources. The move by American companies was only natural otherwise they would have not been where they are today. Who doesn't want to take advantage of a profitable opportunity. When it comes to design US leads, but much more is involved that the designs. China created the environment for themselves...for example there's no US city that can presently host over 400,000 workers under the same roof....such requires building a city from scratch. Then comes logistics and manpower.
China also depends on US for R& and many other areas because the US burns billions of USD in those areas.

The truth is the greatest culprit is neither of those countries. African will suffer the most and it's funny how they don't even realize that.

Their new OS is a fork of android, it's based on Android so it's not like it's totally new. It'll run android apps

Besides the fact that their phones will no longer come with gapps doesn't mean they can't be side loaded. After all the "superbness" of the gcam app didn't result to people getting the pixel phones. I think Huawei will be fine sooner than later.
There is also the fact that 50% of Huawei's sales is from the Chinese market and those folks don't even use Google service by default
