Working in the BIG 4 is usually very attractive in one CV as you set yourself up for bigger things to come.

Also should you want to travel out for masters, you are sure to receive scholarship thus easing the burden on your tuition funding..

It's very rare to see a First Class Accounting student with either ICAN/ACCA certificate jobless. Don't listen to the naysayers.

In the old days, yes.... that was true. But these days, the story has changed.

You need solid technical skills, good networks, membership of professional associations, certifications etc., in order to land any good well-paying job, these days.

That is why some 1st class graduates get easily depressed, when nothing good is turning up for them, during their job search. Because they believe their degree will automatically open doors, for them....and when it doesn't, it becomes a problem.

Hello. Actually, there are. I am currently job hunting, I graduated with a First Class (in Geography). Course of study matters, I studied Geography for the flare I had for it, without looking at the job prospects.

This isn't a lamentation though, but I know better now. I always thought graduating with a First was all that mattered and that everything would eventually fall in place. I don't know whether to say I am wrong just yet.

P.S: I graduated from one of the acclaimed top Federal Universities. If that's important.

Congrats... Make sure you complete your ICAN prog. Good FUTA is now offering social science courses... Graduated from FUTA too but now a qualified chartered accountant.

Not until he got scholarship for MSc and travelled overseas where he bagged both MSc and PhD, he saw himself through school financially. Let me not shock you further with other examples. Making 3.2 CGPA and attributing it to lack of sponsorship is far from truth.
