I think using raised bed is better compared to nursery tray.. if you'll be willing to go through the stress of transplanting to single grow bags

Both plants from below picture are efia habenaro pepper

How much is efia habenaro seed sir?

Thanks 4 d piece of advice, i don't know why pple re clamouring for it despite emphasis on f1, may be is because of the price of efia anyway let them give it a try.

I irrigate 2 inches deep ( 2 hours) every Wednesdays and Saturdays using drip irrigation.. it all depends on your type of soil.. mine is loamy soil at the top and clay at the bottom ...

Please there is this pepper seedlings problem am just suffering badly from

why is it that every single time i water the seedlings some of it will just bend and die off just like that

i had almost 80% good germination rate from the current atarodo that i just even planted

but currently now am only left with barely 30% of them still standing

please whats the cause of all this because me am kind of confused here

but am sure tomatoes dont really have this kind of problem as like this pepper seedlings

why?
Re: 30k Twice A Week From My Pepper Farm by codeQue: 5:53pm On Feb 07, 2020
Do you use watering can for your wetting?

From what you explained, seems what you use to wet has heavy droplets of water, it probably breaks the stems and they dont recover.

You might use something lighter in wetting.

hmm that means heavy water hanging on the seedlings is the cause of it

i was even thinking maybe the seeds are just too weak to survive thats why they die off early

looks like i will devise for a new way of wetting them from now on

no selective herbicide for vegetables yet, only available for rice, maize, cassava and other stubborn crops, don't even dream of spraying anything herbicide ,but I have see farmers use paraquat on garden egg and pepper farms in nsukka but this guys are professionals, very experienced expert sprayers.

only damping off will reduce the population of pepper seedlings from 80% to 30% in no time.

watering a nursery without control is what causes damping off,the top soil will be left to dry before watering again, not everyday watering at least every 2-3 days depending on water retention capacity of soil,we use a 1 ltr plastic Coke can open a nice sizeable hole that will push out water in jets that will not be too powerful, add fungicide (any fungicide works)and we use it to water the nursery every 2-3 days.

.
Water every day but in the morning only. Also spray them with fungicides every 3-4 days. Damping off is likely the cause. Not protecting them from sun can also cause it. Pepper seedlings need good shading.
