davidnazee:Lol. Despite their attack like a pack of wolves insult is all they can hurl at you. Suddenly every traditional ruler is Oba. Why would they leave Oba title to Benin until about 1950s before they now suddenly realised "oh it belongs to us, let's begin using it?" Their sniggering at you here is a sign of frustration. Not what they expected. SW rulers began using Oba title simply because they wanted to bask in the glory similar to Oba of Benin, the owner of the title. Out of respect of tradition, virtually no traditional ruler in the South South uses that title as it became Synonymous with Emperor. In SW they are creating kings everyday to use Oba title. Like one governor in Oyo. I guess they are friends with Ganduje churning out emirs like a cheap Chinese factory. The idea that each SW Oba has own title is a fact. And that's simply all they had. They should better revert to their usual Ooni, Alaafin, Olugbo, Owa Bokun, Awujale, Deji, Osemawe, Olubadan and leave Oba title to the originator. Our close relatives like Eleko as son of the real imperial Oba can use Oba title. Quite fun to see how much headache you are giving our sophisticated SW people. They must have exhausted their Profanity Lexicon by now. 2 Likes |

A taya O! I think they know what they are up to. They got away with it for a while because nobody believe anyone would take them seriously. Indeed, it was considered a waste of time. They find it hard to back out, so they keep building lies upon lies. Even the most ardent lier among them, knows their deceit and (psyeudo intellectual) dishonesty has failed. hayoholla: |

All this dumb Benin boys. They have admitted that oba doesn’t mean shit in their language. What’s they actually have is something called n’oba which means shining.and in full it’s omo n’oba n’edo which means the one who shines for edo. So it’s obvious n’oba and oba are not the same thing. So why are Benin using oba when it doesn’t mean shit in their language is a million dollar question Benin cannot answer. Oba means king in Yoruba language. Otunba a very well known Yoruba title for centuries means king right hand man. Every market around the king palace is always called oja oba all over every Yoruba land. In oyo past tradition those that are buried with the king are called abobaku, and so many more. But according to thick skulked Benin a word that has meaning in Yoruba and other words with related meaning was borrowed from edo that the word has no meaning to them. It’s ever obvious who is lying here. 2 Likes |

What exactly does Benin have to do with this discussion ? You Yoruba really like to mention Benin in every situation. The emperor of Benin empire is titled: OMO N'OBA N'EDO. Oba in short. In the precolonial era, Yoruba chiefs didn't refer to themselves as "Oba". Rather they referred to themselves as ooni, alafin... In the colonial era Yoruba chiefs started naming themselves in the following manner: "ooni of ife, sir adeyemi", "alafin of oyo, sir adetoye"... Notice the introduction of two non Yoruba words: "of" and "sir". The "sir" is a word from English nobility which the yorubas borrowed from the British in order to add some prestige to their titles. However, later in the colonial era, the Yoruba dropped the word "sir" and replaced it with the word "Oba", yet an other non Yoruba word. The word Oba belongs to Benin empire, it is how Benin empire calls it's emperor as witnessed by European visitors in the middle ages. Basically, Yoruba copy other tribes a lot: 2) emir from Fulani 3) "sir" from the British 1) Oba from Benin Even some Benin traditional swords were copied by the Yoruba. You guys like to imitate other people's cultures, face this fact and live on. 2 Likes |

gregyboy:The Fulani copied the ottomans by using titles such as sultan and emir. But at least they don't deny it. But the Yoruba just copy so many tribes and don't even pay credit, they turn around and claim those tribes copied them, not too long ago the ooni was trying to claim Igbo. He even claimed internet was derived from IFA. Benin traditional swords were copied by ife, The more than 7000 Benin arts stolen by Britain in the Oba's palace are being claimed by ife, The list goes on... Why do these yoruba people lie so much ? 1 Like |

Ghostwon65: You can’t blame them much for copying the Oba title. It was obvious that the Oba of Benin and the Benin monarchy was recognized by the Europeans and colonial masters as the most powerful and revered monarch and even having one of the largest ship named after Oba Ovonramwen in recognition of his greatness. So it makes sense to copy that title which has gained so much recognition and respect. 2 Likes |

davidnazee:I bet you in 20 years time or before then, Yoruba will be claiming Oba Ovonramwen was an ooni of ife who conquered Benin and chose to stay in Benin city as a war camp in order to fight the British. How I wish people could just love their genuin history and stop trying to rewrite it (wink to the Yoruba). Look at Israel, it is a world power today and it never tried to suppress it's history. Jews descend from slaves who worked as slaves in Egypt ! And they say it proudly ! And look how far they have gone in life. But here the Yoruba have no self-esteem due to their slave past (many of their ancestors were slaves in Brazil who were later dumped on our shores) 1 Like |

Moneywomen17:Did you even read what you are quoting ? On it I posted a proof that you Yoruba copied the word from the Oba of Benin whom is the only legitimate holder of the title. If you want to play, well play with these questions: What does king mean in English ? What does roi mean in French ? What does keizer mean in German ? What does tsar mean in Russian ? And which precolonial Yoruba dictionary are you quoting about the meaning of the word "Oba" ? What Oba means in Edo language: It means emperor of Benin empire . 1 Like |

Ghostwon65: Egwusi and pounded is now been atributed to either igbos or youbas, Especially the igbos laying falseful claims to them I did a research and found out that people who consider pounded yam and eguisi as thier traditional delicacy in Yoruba land were actually benin influence yoruba people in ondo and delta The other yorubas lay claims to amala and ewedu from oyo influence, But igbos still insisted eguisi must be thiers Gradually we lost voice in our delicacy because our delicacy has now became a delicacy for all Soon our children would be faced on the argument if the coral is even benins Same way the title oba was adopted by yorubas to raise thier monarchial prestige of the Yoruba people using the title oba, because eweka made a friendly tales of the benin-ife monarchy to the yorubas Lete be guided and think fast if we cant stop people from adopting our culture but we cant get them to acknowledge its origin 1 Like |

Re: Benins Are The Owners Of Ogboni Confraternity and olokun worship by Moneywomen17(m): 2:34pm On May 13, 2020 |
Ghostwon65:lies oba doesn’t even have a meaning in edo language as most of ur brother have admitted several times here what u have is n’oba. And oba doesn’t mean emperor in edo cuz to be an emperor u have to have an empire. When Benin was still a kingdom in early stage the king was still called omo n’oba n’edo so stop lying. N’oba means shining and that’s not a name for an emperor. How can Benin be legitimate owner of a title that has no meaning in ur language. In Yoruba oba is king. Title relating to oba is otunba or u Benin go claim we adopt otunba title too. In oyo past traditions those who are buried with the king are called abobaku. Did we borrow it from Benin too. Get it into ur thick skull. Oba is yoruba n’oba is edo. U only borrowed oba. Shikena. 5 Likes |

Moneywomen17: Wtf. Man you are mentally ill. Omo n'Oba n'Edo is the full title. In short it is Oba. I have already said this. You are pretending to not have seen it. It is common practice in Edo language to have mixed words like Netete (N'Etete) IGBINOBA (Igbi n'Oba), Iye n'Ochwa, Iy'oba, IGBINOSA (Igbi n'Osa)... Ghostwon65: Why is it so hard for you Yoruba to just admit you borrowed the title of the emperor of Benin ? It seems you are not aware that empire is an other word for Kingdom, it was invented by cezar when he wanted to be king without calling himself king and without calling Rome Kingdom. So he came up with emperor and empire was derived from that. An empire is viewed vas a powerful and large Kingdom, just like Benin which conquered other kingdoms. 1 Like

Re: Benins Are The Owners Of Ogboni Confraternity and olokun worship by Moneywomen17(m): 2:48pm On May 13, 2020 |
Ghostwon65:dumb ass how can only oba be removed for short in the whole sentence. Ur example igbi n’oba came out as igbinoba as short which is logic. So omo n’oba n’edo a full word just happens to be just oba for short a word that coincidentally means king in Yoruba. Let’s say it were even true that I believe u which I don’t not in the slightest cuz u brothers are huge liars it still shows that the word oba doesn’t mean shit in ur language and it’s just short for the full title. Meanwhile in Yoruba we have oba, otunba title which has existed for centuries all over every Yoruba land. Oja oba in every Yoruba land too. Local ruler of a particular land are called baale. So tell me how did yoruba borrow the word oba from benin according to u liars in the 1950 and there is the so many words relating to oba that go back centuries. 3 Likes |
