N1 millon invested 20 years ago is now worth over N500 million now..

Check the profit history in the last 20 years from less than N1 billion to over N200 billion, the increase in the assets of the business in the last 20 years, increase in revenue from hundreds of millon to over one Trillion naira, number of lines from less than 1 million to over 60 million, introduction of data to initial revenue stream from voice

Sometimes I wonder if it is the same Nigeria I know you guys are talking about. You know the longest I've ever waited to be served in a bank here in Canada? 5 minutes or less. You know how many times I've lined up to withdraw money from an ATM? ZERO. Yes you read that right. Zero times that I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one that uses ATMs. I could from the comfort of my bedroom take a screenshot of a cheque and have the funds deposited in my bank account, within seconds, without leaving my house. Abeg stop all these unnecessary hype about Nigeria. Fear God na

Bro queuing at ATM as in Nigeria does not negate the fact that the banking sector is advanced. It's just that the average Nigerian still prefers cash despite other alternatives provided. Also banks like Zenith are very time conscious in their dealings from my experience. As for the cheque deposit issue, we have something similar in Zenith iteller. Download the app and check it out. It's a zenith bank product.

Same way he might consider that your balloon trip to be worthless and never spend that kind of money on it.
For a moment I thought you wanted to argue how impossible it is to blow 1000euros in a pub, like everyone goes to bars to drink corn juice(beer) undecided
A single bottle of Louis treize by Remy Martin can easily blow that in a UK bar.

Arguing about it never even crossed my mind, kind sir. I always assume the best about everyone. You should try it.

Very true, but also lots of insider abuse in the stock exchange are driving would be investors away.
When MTN was listed I think last year, I mandated a broker I constantly deal with to buy for me, behold my 5m was returned to me, he only buy for my Coy.
Also in those days when Oando did IPO, I experienced same fate, after holding my fund for almost a month, fund returned with msg oversubscribed.
Only yeye coy like Unic insurance, international brewery that constantly making loss, no dividend and Nig Breweries with poor dividend scalled true.
This made me completely lose interest in stock mkt

The keyword is inner eyes to identify opportunities. It requires training, experience, knowledge, divine wisdom, discernment, intuition, and cautious optimism.

How is it done Sir?

Thanks
You take a photo of the cheque (I know I earlier said screenshot. My mistake). You log into your bank account, select e-deposit, upload the picture of the cheque and you would have the money in your account IMMEDIATELY.

I love this submission.

Please Sir, what stock can someone invest in this period.

My investment plan is:
1). Short term: N1M (I intend to be doing rollover with this. No job at the moment, and I hope this will be able to fetch a substantial amount for my monthly expenses.)

2). Long term: N500k (a dividend paying stock + capital appreciation)

Wow... I have been following this thread for a long time now. In fact I'm addicted to this thread. I want to sincerely thank all contributors and financial gurus on this thread.

Before now I have this mentality of just accumulating wealth by saving into the bank without investing but now that has change.

I have 300k invested in Stanbic IBTC mutual funds(my first investment) since last year March. Now I have 200k lying idle in bank account, any advise on what to do with it that will yield returns and my capital will be guaranteed?

The statement in block letters is very true and I completely agree, but there is need for a paradigm shift. I feel we need to begin to expatiate all the investment quotes out there, which includes CASH IS KING, so that intending investors can have a clearer understanding of how things work.

Yes, invest in what you understand but be open-minded and seek knowledge of other investment vehicles. I know people that only understand fixed deposit as a viable form of passive investment/income. When you try to educate them about Treasury bills or Mutual Funds, they quickly respond with the usual statement, ''I ONLY INVEST IN WHAT I UNDERSTAND''. But we all know that understanding how T-bills and MMF work is not rocket science.
