HeadShot: You and those who liked your post are selfish and bereft of how businesses run. Blame your government for dysfunctional power supply, not dstv or any other private business concern. You expect them to bear the cost of your country's failed power infrastructure? It shows how evil you are. 4 Likes |

We Nigerians are always complaining. Someone's business, you want to tell him how to manage his business. Can't we encourage our own, live them. They don't care. If you can't pay, the politicians will pay. If you can't afford Hummer jeep, buy 2005 model of Toyota Camry. |

Don't mind the bastard people, they are collecting the money for the channels they made free during the covid-19 strict lockdown... Before things will change in this country uprising by the youths is the solution... See what happening in America same is needed to reset things. |

showafrica: LOL...bribe who?? HiTV was BACKED by government....the then Minister of Information was at their opening self. The mistake they made was not looking at what their market wanted. As a result, apart from football, their offerings were watery. Even their Nollywood channels were weaker than DSTV's own self. TSTV...lol! Is it the non-existent internet that they were promising us, or the pirating of BeIN, or the very poor service in most areas..then when the guy who owned the thing was caught out, he started blaming everyone but himself? Look...if DSTV does not suit you....STARTIMES dey. Netflix dey, other alternatives dey. 1 Like |

Note that the increase on the fattest dstv bouquets is on account of 2.5per cent hike in VAT, which MCN bore for 4 months. The new bouquets are new bouquets and they offer more in terms of movies, series, news and general entertainment ProsperChild: |

erico2k2: I felt like slapping that guy. All of these private companies generate their own energy to keep their facilities and services uninterrupted every day. Then one minion somewhere who has never managed a kiosk wants the same companies to be responsible for the energy problems in their own homes. I pity so many private organizations, especially when one considers the expenses they incur weekly providing their own power. Name it: saloons, barbershop, electrical shops, gas plants, filling stations, banks, schools, computer service providers, food shops, etc. Most of these businesses are bleeding courtesy of epileptic power supply. 2 Likes |

DStv didn't increase any subs. The FG increased VAT. You don't expect MultiChoice to pay for this. VAT is paid by consumers. MultiChoice only collects vat on behalf of government. Read more about VAT sir. LOVEGINO: |

What is evil in giving facts? This is common sense bro. MCN bore the burden for four months. It can't and shouldn't pay vat on behalf of subscribers. Vat collected isn't part of its turnover. It simply collects for remittance to the government HeadShot: |

Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by ZEEZAR: 2:30pm On May 31, 2020 |
it is not compulsory to watch DStv. The increase was on the additional 2.5% VAT increase. This cost did not take effect for almost four months. Did they not do well enough by bearing the cost? Moreso, they have been running promos on all their packages for months! I have been paying for Compact Plus and watching Premium package channels Okd1: 1 Like |
Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by kemji47(m): 2:32pm On May 31, 2020 |
See ehn we forget that Dstv is like every other company whose goal is to make profit. When govt increased VAT from 5% to 7.5% multichoice didn't increase prices. They bore the extra cost for 4 months. Now they've adjusted is this the thank you we're giving them? Let's reason it. For how long will they continue to bear the cost? If you want to blame someone then blame the govt for increasing vat 1 Like |

Itohan11:is it forbidden for them to implement "Pay as you watch" |
Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by ZEEZAR: 2:36pm On May 31, 2020 |
Are you aware that this increase is the implementation of the 7.5% VAT by the government? This took effect since February and DStv is only now implementing the additional 2.5% increase. Also, they have been running promos on all package. I have been paying Compact Plus and getting Premium channels. We can not blame businesses for our leaders' decisions flokii: |
Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by Nobody: 2:38pm On May 31, 2020 |
LOVEGINO: There is no such thing as 'pay as you watch' in any African country. South Africa has a similar package regimen as Nigeria....with prices ranging from N8000-N17500. Same for Kenya. |

Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by kemji47(m): 2:54pm On May 31, 2020 |
Karlifate: This is not true. The increase in price is due to increased VAT which has been since February. Multichoice has been bearing the cost since. For GOTV packages were upgraded with more channels. |
Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by FunmilolaO: 2:58pm On May 31, 2020 |
The increase on the bouquets is on account of 7.5 VAT implementation, which MCN bore for 4 months. The new bouquets definitely has more to offer. |
