Okay, you could term the PSG one a blinder but that really packed some kind of power too. And you are right about the fact that Nacho also shoots like that. The lad is young and his shots are bound to get better shaa but I have seen him hit it with real power for Salzburg and the Norwegian U-20s at the WC.
Truly if Osimhen was European white, the hype on him would be much more than we are seeing. The media is just being conservative on Victor. Good to see I'm not the only one who knows this.

TheLoneCitizen:

The shot vs PSG was a blinder, man, dude moves like a terminator. If Osimhen was European though, he would have gotten the hype he deserved. It's a good thing we agree, brother.

Will have to confirm this. Hours earlier I read somewhere that Monaco was offering Onyekuru to Trabzonspor as part of a cash+player deal for a certain Omur Abdulkadir but the reports said Trabzonspor rejected. Hmmmm.... Time will tell. The season of speculations and twists and turns in transfer dealings/news is here again.

TheLoneCitizen:
Papers in Turkey stating that Onyekuru has already signed a 4 year contract with Trabzonspor.

You are right Elyte man. Reason why the name Fabrice Akwa cannot be erased from my memory.

I remember Martins' debut for us against Republic of Ireland in 2004. He totally obliterated their defence with his lightening speed and quick change of direction. Indeed missing that 2006 WC was a major blow.

just watching Obafemi Martins' goals for Inter on YouTube men! dude was an absolute terrifying prospect to face then if you were an opposition defender. rockets in his boots left or right, blistering pace and movement, deadly in front of goal, very strong on the ball despite his size.

guy was easily Nigeria's best striker especially during that 2000-2010 period. can't put my finger why dude didn't have an even bigger impact in the super eagles. truly he was a weapon of mass destruction.
Vogt has blood on his hands for that dismal performance at 2008 Afcon, we had Martins, Yakubu, Kanu, Uche, Utaka, Osaze, Nsofor and we still struggled for goals

Spanked Zimbabwe 5-1 in that last game all for nothing. We had hoped for an Angola draw in Rwanda but those guys went on to win away by one goal scored by the same man that drowned us in Luanda.... Fabrice Akwa. Arrgghhh. Frustrating last matchday. A late goal (scored towards 80mins or so) that broke our hearts.

We had the better goals difference and were tied on points. But head to head kicked our butt out. Painful qualifying campaign. We shot ourselves in the foot when we failed to take out Angola in Kano. Infact the bolded was just it.

First of all, Noni will need a switch and before that happens, we need to be sure he wants to turn out for us.

Secondly, lad is still young. 18 in fact and has only less than 200 Eredivisie minutes under his belt. His time will come but he needs to break through at PSV too.

Furthermore, he is more of a left footed right winger who can also play as an AM and even though this lad is on our scouting database, truth is finding another winger is not exactly a priority but if we get assurance of such quality lads willing to play for us after they must have been contacted or have reached out themselves, then fine, moves will be made to begin their switch.

Also, what lad is doing now at 18 majorly for PSV youth, Iwobi did same at same age for Arsenal U-21 and U-23 scoring goals and taking up a few assists along the way. At age 19, Iwobi got his first EPL goal and scored again the following match day still at 19.

I've been following Madueke and have even given him some good mentions on this thread many pages back. Did it during preseason before 2019/2020 season began even. No doubt the lad got real talent and is a baller but compared to Iwobi, Noni is still a learner. Iwobi is on a far higher level right now compared to Madueke and even Ejaria and the lad are not mates so he cannot be on same level with Ejaria. He isn't even better than Eze and Eze is 21 (would be 22 by June 29).

Could he be better than Ebere in future considering they have a four years difference? Well, time will tell. He does have the talent to rise but right now, dude is not on the level of an Iwobi, Ejaria and even Eze. He needs to prove himself in the Eredivisie. He is 18 but his mates like Mohammed Ihattaren who is also 18 is already making strong marks on the Eredivisie.

I like Noni and also feels he got real talent but this is some serious overhype. Let's be guided.

If only people truly understands that Iwobi have proven recently to be one of The Super Eagles' hardest workers in the final third/midfield and the main reason for our quick attacking plays as the sweet link between midfield and attack, they won't bad mouth him at every turn. But thing is, they don't. Perhaps will begin dropping some stats of Iwobi in the GWG to show folks how much importance Iwobi commands in the team.

20 year old Calvin Chinedu Ughelumba joins Glasgow Rangers. Yet another left back to keep an eye on

Fine news Chris. One to truly keep an eye on. Really hope his defensive game is very strong. Let me leave this here.

Gerrard raves after Rangers sign Leicester defender Bassey

The Scottish club have completed a shrewd signing as they start planning for next season

Steven Gerrard was thrilled after Rangers struck a deal to sign Leicester City defender Calvin Bassey on a four-year contract.

Rangers boss Gerrard said the Scottish Premiership side had competition from multiple teams for the signature of the 20-year-old, who has played at left-back and centre-back.

Leicester will be due to receive training compensation when the pre-contract move goes through once the transfer window opens.

"There was a lot of clubs interested in Calvin and for us it's pleasing to secure the services of another young talent," Gerrard said.

"He's a strong and dynamic athlete, who is very much the modern day full-back.

"He will develop further and we are excited to have made another strong addition to our group.

"He's left-footed, physically powerful, enjoys driving forward and is certainly equipped to thrive in the combative nature of Scottish football."

Bassey becomes the second permanent signing made by Gerrard in the space of a month with Romanian Ianis Hagi also linking up with the club on a long-term deal from Genk .

Speaking to Rangers TV, Bassey paid tribute to all Leicester had taught him as he looks to progress further with his new club.

“I’m really excited. Rangers are a massive club and I am just buzzing to get started. Ever since Rangers were in the picture and speaking to my agent, I was really excited and they were one of the clubs I thought highly of and I am just happy now to get started – I cannot wait," Bassey said.

“I feel Rangers is the right place for me because I have seen players such as Joe Aribo come from south of the border and do so well.

“I appreciate everything Leicester have done for me, and I just feel Rangers are offering me a massive platform to take my career to the next level and showcase my ability to the world.

“I know the fans are very passionate and want to win – and that’s like me – I always want to win. I know Rangers has a very rich history, and I have played at Ibrox before [for Leicester U20s], but the stadium was empty as it was just a friendly.

“You could feel the history though and it was a good experience – I just can’t wait to play there when it is a full stadium.

“I was delighted when Rangers came in for me. I know it comes with big pressure and that the fanbase are amazing.

“I’ve never had football the easy way – I signed for Leicester at Under 16's and I have always had pressure, so I feel like the pressure will be a blessing in disguise for me to help me take my career to the next step.”

That Team with a proper coach could have caused major upsets at the 2006 WC. With Martins, Yakubu, Utaka, Osaze all at their peaks. Buoyed by Okocha and Kanu with all their experiences. Young Mikel and Taye Taiwo just broke in. Yobo and Odiah were also at their peak.
Obodo, Olofinjana, Ayila, Lawal and Oruma part of the midfield. And of course the trio of Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba were among the best in Africa.

You seem so sure Osimhen cannot also play the Arsenal pattern
I believe he will walk into that team if it all goes down to how well he can exchange quick passes
He also has the quick burst of pace to find change position quickly for a return pass

Walk into arsenal team that have Aubameyang and lacasera?

Oh you forgot that Okocha and Kanu cost us 2006 WC qualification with them skipping matches

Yobo also failed to do the needful by allowing Fabrice Akwa all the rooms to score that important goal against Nigeria.

Most importantly,we built 2006 team around tired legs of Kanu and Okocha and we paid dearly for it.

Not only Okocha and Kanu selected matches, some other players too did.

I remember that game in Luanda that we lost 1:0. That game was why we trailed Angola for the rest of the qualifiers. The problem was they underrated Angola. Many star players were missing. And then there was also the chant of "Try new players".

However, that doesn't mean Kanu, Okocha and Yobo wouldn't have turned up with their games at the WC if we had qualified.

This is one thing I respect Rohr for. Every game is very important to him. He usually calls up the best available players.

Chief as at 2006.Okocha and Kanu have nothing to offer again and building that Team around the duo was a mistake.

Please I think you mistake Felix Agu For Chima Okoroji.

Felix is still on 6 assists and will play again Sunday.

Okoroji's two assists today just got him up to Five assists for the league season in addition to his 1 goal.

As for Zaidu Sanusi being an upgrade on Collins, I don't know. Lad is fast and good going forward but has problems defending. He is a good ball crosser and create chances but his primary duty which is defending, he's not so great at it. Perhaps he will improve with time.
Okoroji looks decent and a little more balanced to me than Zaidu and can grow into that upgrade but time will tell.

As for Felix Agu, he is the versatile one.

oooh my bad. I truly mistake him for Felix who is on 6 assists. Thanks 4 the correction senior man.

Look at the intricacy of play in Arsenal and the technicality of movement and interchanging of passes including first touch the dont play off the shoulder continuously. Consider how the 18 year old striker Gabriel Martinelli fits flawlessly into that system.

Arsenal will have to change their game plan to accommodate and get the best out of Victor and if they do not he will have to adapt, how quickly can he do that in the EPL.

Those are the questions.

You are forgetting Osimhen came into prominence playing in a similar pattern in Amunike's U17 which was a Van Gaal-style domination of possession system where Osimhen excelled flawlessly.

I have no doubt Osimhen will do even better in such systems if given a shot. Remember also Siasia plays a passing style system and when he gave Osimhen a shot, the young man delivered effortlessly.
