madridsta007: I don’t find it embarrassing because what makes you a Yoruba or Igbo is more than just geographical boundary. They are not the first set of people that will spend all their lives in diaspora, we have several thousands of them here in USA that are American citizen who never set their foot once in Nigeria and yet they mostly identify and flaunt the Nigeria heritage. I’ve seen your past Nairaland post and it showed that you’re just another Yoruba hater and you’re mostly saying this because you thought most of those guys are Yorubas and not Ibos. Have a nice day. 4 Likes |

Maybe u can now eat your words. I will say again I am Nigerian than I am British and most of those students whom I am fortunate to know through LinkedIn connection will probably say same. madridsta007: 8 Likes

Ride on brother, I like your great sense of history. That's the trademark of Igbos when something does not favour them. They know little or nothing about history but want people to believe their lies. My regret as a Yoruba man is that Lord Lugard wouldn't have joined us together as one country, we won't have seen all these shits. They are always bedmates with the Hausas-Fulanis during the first and second republics to the extent their forefathers rejected secession clause in our constitution then which would have made it easy for each ethnic group to go its separate way. The reason being that they wanted to overrun the Western Region at all costs. Even the Chinese will celebrate this achievement despite their technological advancement talkless of Nigeria a developing/ underdeveloped country of today. As it is presently, China and South Korea still send millions of their students abroad for higher learning in the US and Europe. The only difference is that students of Asian origin often return home to develop and grow the economy of their countries while ours stay put because of bad governance at home. If the list has contained 80% of their tribes, it will be noise all through today but since it's the opposite, envy will rear its ugly head from them. scholes0: 8 Likes 1 Share |

GTkester: Makes sense. Reason is bad leadership here has failed this country in terms of collective success. So, the alternative is individual success and celebration. You can see it in our daily lives. We power our houses ourselves, give ourselves jobs and secure ourselves. These are some of the reasons people think individually here. 1 Like |

Sydney1995: Then it is pathetic that you use such uncouth language. That is certainly not representative of the Imperial and Durham students that I know. NB: It is a bit unwise and childish putting your ID card on a public forum. That’s some emotional reaction there— emotions will only get you in trouble. There are no tangible benefits you get from winning or loosing an argument on a public forum where anonymity is the protocol. Trust me, no tangible benefits. 5 Likes 1 Share |

LegendHero: You are hilarious. You saw my posts and ignore the ones where I was praising and carrying Anthony Olufemi Joshua on my head? You remind me of Hell Ruffy AKA El Rufai. Oga, I have said this for every human with a Nigerian-sounding name that achieves something abroad and is then hailed in Nigeria. As if the investment was done by Nigeria. I find that embarassing. If this post had praised their Yoruba or Igbo heritage, I will have no problems with that. But praising Nigeria, when Nigeria has done nothing for these ones? That is clearly dishonest. |

GTkester: About the bolded. Go through this thread and start reading from page 72. Also if you’re truly educated, you’ll clearly see from my first post that I spoke about sample size. We can’t map all the universities in the USA coz that’s rubbish. What we did is going through the graduation lists of some selected schools and counting the students in those list. I don’t like too much stories, just read the thread below from page 72 to follow the event. https://www.nairaland.com/5788620/what-does-west-produce-compares/72 3 Likes

GTkester: Really, you have point and i agree with you. Although, we should be glad Nigerians in diaspora are doing well but it would be more gladsome if Nigerians domiciled at home makes their marks on the world right from here. Just like Okocha and KANU were home grown but good enough to make their marks on the footballing world as against John Fashanu coming back to claim Nigeria. Its just the way you put it across at first..... 1 Like |

GTkester: Not true. The world is global, where our children go to University is irrelevant so long as we create the conditions that enable them to thrive when/if they return. What is at issue is that there is nothing wrong with our DNA, we have nothing to be inferior about. Pound for pound or kg for kg we are as good as anyone anywhere. The fact that the school is run by a Niverian administrator on a budget that is a fraction that available to schools like Eton, Charterhouse, Harrow, Winchester and Shrewsbury is worthy of appreciation. Let us never allow our natural cynicism over all things Nigerian masquerade itself as sound logic. Abeg let us wheel out for the drums for these guys and girls. People who have not been through it do not understand how hard it is to break through the institutional racism surrounding Oxbridge and the "Stone" Universities like Durham and St Andrews. 2 Likes |
