Greetings to elders, I have so much respect for this forum as person they struggle with one isissue I say ma carryam come elders forum.

It all began last 2- weeks when my brother wanted to apply for his P-UTME exam. But to do so the school he applied for required him to change his course as his cut off mark for the course he applied before hasn't reached. This is necessary for him to be considered among those that will be shortlisted to Sit for exam.

We went to Jamb CBT to change his course and go ahead with the P-UTME registration. This is where The problems started unfolding. We Came to realize that he used my mum's number to open his jamb profile, and the sad thing is that they had stolen my mum's phone with that sim in it last two months. She lived for some weeks without phone before going ahead to buy a phone and a new sim.

So when the CBT guy told us that we will need that sim for change of course to be possible. We went to jamb office here in Kaduna and they confirmed the CBT guy statement. We went for the sim swap last monday but Mtn told us that since the sim pack wasn't available she will have to do a court affidavit. We got the affidavit instantly but there was a lot of que when we go back to the Mtn office.

We have to leave it till Tuesday, we went early morning when it was her turn for the swap she went ahead but one surprising thing is that the same sim that she bought and registered by herself 5- years ago turned out to be displaying a different person pix with details.

That's where real wahala start ooo, the Mtn agent told her that there is no way that sim swap will be done because it wasn't her pix in the profile. He told her that what actually happens was that the people she bought the sim from where just business men disguising themselves as Mtn agent, they are just after to sale their sim card in order to gain profit. They will offer you a registered sim as unregistered and take you through the process of registering as if that was the exact Time the registering is taking place.

At the end we trird other Mtn offices but the same answer was given to us the only way out was to look for the person whose pix is displaying to come by himself and do the swapping. This is a person my mum has never met in her entire life she don't even know him.

Remember that she was just a victim of a circumstance that's beyond her control and anybody can fall for it. I can't even comprehend how an innocent student will waste another year at home as result of a missing sim or number.

Pls I am begging on fellow elders in the house or anyone that has been in similar situation like this or know someone that has come across a similar problem and was able to solve it to pls help my brother out he has already wasted a year at home.

Pls help me out

Saw a scenario like yours, only it was Airtel. And the Airtel officials told the individual to re-register the sim anew with an affidavit of course. Shouldn't have been a hard case as long as one can provide evidence of using the sim frequently but I guess because the sim was stolen is why they are giving you guys a hard time.

Why not try and meet with the manager at the MTN office & explain things, maybe they could suggest a solution.

If that doesn't work out, try the jamb office again, At least a valid email was used. Explain rigorously.

If it's all futile, tell your bro, it's not the end, just not his turn yet. He should prepare for next year. With no mistakes this time.

There are people doing sim business people that do the welcome back like this. Visit any local mtn agent selling sim card at your environment. Definitely u will meet one that will do it for you. Thus they charge at the rate of 500 or 1000.
Thank me later

Thanks a lot boss,on Friday we went to another Mtn office and I rigorously explain to one guy in the office,he told me it can't happen intact he even direct me to his Oga who I think is the one in charge, and I further explained to him that see this sim was use to register for jamb and without it,than can cause him the entire year.I ff beg him to leave the sim in his place I will only contact him for any detail's sent by jamb he said No.He explained to me that even if he do the swapping for me 1- he would put his job at risk and 2- if detected they will automatically block it because another pix will be taken during the process of swapping and omne can't change the former one

Bolakumi:
you can as well check the email your brother use in registering for his Jamb...His profile code will be on the mail...he can check it from there.

Thanks a lot Sir, but it seems you didn't understand what I am about to say.
To register for jamb in the first place one has to send a text to a particular number then he will received a code.

Now to change your course one has to send a text using that number choose the option of course change make the payment before going ahead with the change of course in his jamb profile.

Can you just imagine
80% of the citizens of this nation are damn corrupt and fraudulent, more like on default!
They are out with different kinda fraudulent ways to make quick money.
Illegal means is a normal way of life to some Nigerians.
Just imagine how many people this kind of thing has landed in jeopardy?

The mom was using a number for 5 whole years, never knowing that it was another man's profile with his picture that was registered as the original owner of the SIM Card at MTN office by criminals!!
There was a nation!

We thank God for the few of us that are sane, honest and hardworking in Nigeria.
You read some atrocities committed by some Nigerians and you can only shudder!

Only God knows how many members here are going through the same thing the OP mom is going through right now.
Thinking they actually owns their numbers!

Hmmmmmm. The truth is that many people are in this OP shoe but they don't know yet until when the need arises. This is a very bad situation. An issue that can even send an innocent person to jail if a wrong details was seen on a sim database. Na the person dem go pick which is the wrong person. Almost everything is wrong with this country. Ordinary sim registration is what can't be done properly! May we not be victims of misfortunes.

Go to jamb office and explain to them, this problem can only be solved by jamb officials, I don't think mtn can do anything at this point.

If u tried everything and it doesn't work then am sorry ur bro has to stay at home one more yr.

Why can't it be online? Must it be tied to a simcard?
This question should be directed to jamb officials

Something is wrong with our network providers, the SIM my sister has been using for over thirteen years, was stolen with phone, when she went for the retrieval, they told her that the picture used in registering the SIM is different from her, the same SIM she has retrieved several times.
