Proffwhyhurry12: Yes the Government may have their issues, but what is really the big deal? You want to give your employer a platform of how he will pay you? You want him to honour the agreement of 2019 agreement, which you know no government honours many promises or would we say fulfil 100% of demands. You want them to renegotiate 2009 and abi 2013 MOU, and that's why you are striking, does it makes sense. You say IPPIS, is not good because of the perculiarity of the university system, then sit with government and readjust the current IPPPIS platform and everyone is happy. Well my guys, trust me, ASUU does not mean well for the students. The government isn't working, that we know. But if everyone turns up and says we are striking, nothing would make sense. Why always the ASUU? Trust me it's political and greed motivated. Do you know the number of ghost workers that IPPIS fishes out. They said it has irregularities, that is very common with any payment scheme which would be readjusted with time. A lecturer teaching in 3 universities and collecting 3 salaries, with poor contact hours with the students. That is just one example of many others. Now ₦30 billion is ready to be shared with ASUU, NASU and SSANU, but ASUU insisted it be for then alone. Government agreed. Where they are now, is which platform? Government is saying, register on IPPIS and get the money, since UTAS they brought up isn't complete yet. ASUU is saying No! UTAS is it. So whose at fault now? 3 Likes 2 Shares |

That's where the problem lies. If they can go this far, then they are close to achieving their goals. Our leaders ain't good to be pitied. They're brute and need to apply force when dealing with them. I'll appeal to ASUU to be resolute amongst themselves and give government hell cos that's the only language they hear. Come to think of it, is it not time for the students and parents with relatives to go out there in the street to protest in favor of ASUU to put more pressure on the government. They'll tell you no money to meet your demands but if it's there's, money will magically appear and they'll loot everything. |

GeezBitz:You people like calling out FGN in everything, we agree that FGN is corrupt and all that but if you are an empolyer and employer about 50 group of people and each of them tells you that they will have their own individual payment platform, how will you start? |
Re: Crack In ASUU As Members Want End To Strike by Nobody: 3:05pm On Nov 07, 2020 |
Tilykay: You need to ask the right questions Why pay for ippis wen UTAS is free? This government likes wasting money. UTAS will flush out ghost workers too. Brain drain is imminent. doctors are leaving the countries en-mass very soon Lecturers will follow suit since you don't value them. You'll be left with secondary school teachers to teach university students. |

GeezBitz: Proffwhyhurry12: I beg to differ. ASUU is caused more pains than gains to the Nigerian students. They keep fighting for their selfish interest and use the students as pawns. Despite the funds released to the institutions, have you seen any improvement in infrastructure? If they feel they are not okay with their salaries, they should resign. After all, our minister of science and technology is proud we are finally able to manufacture pencil. What does that tell you of our education system? 1 Like 1 Share |

Thiwalade: Oh I'm well informed. In as much as we appreciate home based soft ware. The logic behind its development is ridiculous. How does brain drain come into what we are saying. It isn't today brain drain began in Nigeria. If a problem should be tackled in Nigeria, it has to be holistic and not just a segment (academic staffs alone) what about civil service. |

ASUU is not been realistic. Just as it with the education sector so it is with every area of our national life. To insist that government must meet their demands is a huge joke. ASUU and the universities issue is just a fragment of our national problem. Government still has to grapple with health, the economy, infrastructure, security, employment etc. ASUU should not for a moment think the FG will satisfy their problems while other sectors suffer. The suffering is a genera one and ASUU should patiently bear its part. 1 Like |

I blame both ASUU and FG. What is the need for a dialogue if nobody is ready to reach each other halfway. Mode of payment of workers logically depends on the employers. Federal has agreed to test run UTAS, if they insist for the main time they want to pay through IPPIS, ASUU should compromise a little, and if at the end UTAS passes and FG fails to use it, then they have a legitimate argument. Both sides are not considering the students If Teachers Doctors etc, stop work and remain adamant like ASUU this country no go fold? |

Re: Crack In ASUU As Members Want End To Strike by Ekpekaycee: 4:09pm On Nov 07, 2020 |
The problem of the frequent ASUU strikes could be that in the previous years, when the strike have lasted for 3 to 4 months, the FG would be forced or blackmailed to make promises and sign MOU it knows it cannot keep and after a while, a fresh bout of strike will be called. But the way I see it, this time around, the FG may not be willing to be coaxed into making promises it cannot keep. If ASUU members are angry that even uneducated politicians are earning far more than them, ( they rightly should be , as ever other Nigerian is), but using strikes as an alibi is not the solution, rather let them join others to demand for total restructuring of government budgketing systems and enumerations. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
