Former Red Media partner and Future Awards Co-founder, Emilia Asim-Ita has died on January 29, IgbereTV reports.

The company she founded, AML Media, announced her death but the cause of her death is yet to be known at the time of this report.

Emilia who was in her 30s, was a brand strategist and had worked with many brands, media and non-governmental establishment.

In 2005, three young Nigerians below age 21 - Emilia Asim-Ita, Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams came together and created The Future Awards. The idea was to celebrate the achievements of young Nigerians between the ages of 18 – 31 in divergent fields of endeavour, to counter the criminal image that the foreign media was giving Nigeria.

Emilia created AML Media 10 years ago after ending her partnership with Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams at Red Media.

AML Media wrote on Instagram:

I never for the life of me saw this coming. I never thought I would be penning this down. Emilia, you said this year was for a re-establishment in exponential growth. We were going to do better than we did last year. You had big dreams. Dreams that sometimes scared me. How death must have mocked us! Emilia, you are the must humble person I have come across. I remembered when I joined. You told me not to call you ma. "My name is Emilia," you said. For the founder of an organization, I was taken aback. Took me a while to adjust. You loved God, Emilia. You were never ashamed of God. You also loved AML. It was your baby. Your work ethic always amazed me and spurred me. You stood for women and sought ways to empower women. Little wonder we clicked. You never let me stay in my comfort zone. You assigned tasks that I would otherwise run away from. You wanted me to grow. You wanted everyone to grow. Emilia, you had so much in you. You are one of the most intelligent women I have ever met. Your death fills me with so much pain; so much anger. I am finding it hard to say goodbye. You didn't deserve to bow out this way: this young. Nonetheless, I will continually celebrate you. Today, tomorrow, forever. Rest on, warrior! Rest in peace, Emilia Asim-Ita.
