Science/Technology / Apple Apologizes For Slowing Down Older Iphones With Ageing Batteries by rounskalif: 9:14am On Dec 29, 2017
US Tech giant Apple has apologised to customers for deliberately slowing the performance of older iPhone models without users’ consent.

The US tech company also announced a $50 (£37) reduction in the cost of iPhone battery replacements, down from $79 to $29, and an iOS (operating system) software update providing updates on iPhone battery health in early 2018.

The apology comes after Apple admitted to slowing down the iPhone 6, 6S, 7 and SE – when their batteries are either old, cold or have a low charge – to prevent abrupt shutdowns.

Apple said the problem was that ageing lithium batteries delivered power unevenly, which could cause iPhones to shut down unexpectedly – endangering the delicate circuits inside.

Sports / 10 Big Teams We Will Surely Miss In Russia 2018 by rounskalif: 10:58am On Dec 02, 2017
10 Big Teams We Will Surely Miss In Russia 2018 -FiloPost

The World Cup tournament is one of the most anticipated events in the World where most players dream to show off their talents and most probably shoot their careers. Now that the qualifying stage for the World Cup has almost been completed with very few play offs left, those who made it are already making preparations while those who failed to qualify are still wondering what really went wrong.

As we brace up for the best men National football team competition in the World, let’s take a look at some teams that we won’t be seeing at the tournament next summer. In this article I will discuss 10 big teams that didn’t make the cut in no particular order.

Italy
No doubt the Azzurri are the first to be referenced, the 2006 World champion have failed to qualify for the competition for the first time since 1958. Italy was second to Spain in Group G of the first round of UEFA qualifying phase which was good enough for them to qualify for round 2 play offs. Unfortunately, the Italian who had participated in the tournament 18 times and had won it 4 times failed to qualify this time around. This was due to a goalless draw they played with Sweden at Milan after losing 1 – 0 to Sweden in the first leg of a 2 leg play off.

Some Newspapers in Italy reported that Italy not making it to the World Cup is like an Apocalypse and I can’t agree more. Although the Italian playing style is mostly defensive they are still a team to watch out for in a World cup competition. Some notable players in Italian National teams that will be missed in the tournament are Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) and Marco Veratti (PSG) etc.

Chile
The CONMEBOL champion and the first runner up in the just concluded Confederation cup in Russia won’t also be at the World Cup after failing to make the top 4 of a 10 team grouping in CONMEBOL qualifying phase. Chile who had appeared in the tournament 9 times was sixth in the group even though it was only a point difference between them and fourth placed Columbia. However some notable players in Chile National team that will be missed includes Arturo Vidal (Bayern Munich) and Sanchez (Arsenal).

Netherlands
The Netherland Men’s football National team also called the Clockwork Orange or flying Dutchmen will also be missed in Russia 2018. They were the first runner up in South Africa 2010 and second runner up in Rio 2014. Netherland has appeared in the tournament 10 times but couldn’t make the second round of Europe qualifying phase. Even though they had the same point with Sweden who came second in Group A of the first round of UEFA qualifying phase they will be missing the tournament due to lesser goal difference. Some notable players in the Dutch national teams are Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) and Robin Van Persie (Fenerbahce).

Ivory Coast
The Ivorian Elephants who were the 2015 CAF champion won’t also be in Russia. Ivory Coast who had appeared in the tournament 3 times failed to qualify this time around after coming second in the round 3 of CAF qualifying phase. Some notable players in the Ivory Coast National team that will surely be missed are Eric Bailly (Manchester United) and Serge Aurier (Tottenham).

USA
The CONCACAF champion will also be missing in Russia after failing to make the top 3 position in the round 5 of the CONCACAF qualifying phase. The US team who had appeared 10 times in the tournament came fifth in a 6 team grouping system with only 1 point between them and Panama who came third after an unexpected loss to Trinidad and Tobago. Some people said US didn’t make it because of their long time rivalry against the host, Russia Federation. Well, that’s on a lighter mood though. Some notable players in the US National team are Tim Howard (MLS) and Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), they will surely be missed at the tournament.

Wales
The 2016 UEFA Euro semi finalist in France will also be missing the tournament in Russia. Wales who had appeared in the tournament only once failed to qualify for the tournament next summer after coming third in Group D of the UEFA qualifying phase behind Serbia and Ireland who were first and second

Agriculture / How To Become A Successful Poultry Farmer In Nigeria by rounskalif: 2:52pm On Nov 23, 2017
Before Independence during the pre-oil era, Nigeria was a giant in the farming sector, but due to oil boom, this sector has been neglected for almost half of the last millennium. With the advent of drop in Brent Crude price, the Government of the day are looking for alternatives to boost our foreign earnings and reserves. In that regards there has been calls all over the country to rejuvenate our Agro sector.

Farming is an extensive topic to be discussed but for this purpose of this article I will streamline it as much as possible. Farming is extensively divided into Arable and livestock farming. Arable farming deals with basically crops and plants while livestock farming deals with rearing of domestics and farm animals.

Poultry farming is the most lucrative of all and widely accepted amongst the population. In this article, I will outline some of its benefits and how to set up a standard and cost efficient Poultry.

What are the Benefits of Poultry Farming Nigeria?

Depending on your budget, setting up a poultry is very easy, you don’t need to wait for a very long time before you make profit. It is one fast way of making cool cash within a very short period of time.
Once you decide on the type of breed to rare it takes an average of six to eight months for them to mature and become meat or start laying eggs.
You don’t need to have millions of naira before you set up a poultry, you can easily set up a cage at the backyard of your house and start making some extra income.
Commercial poultry farming is a great source of employment for the teeming youth.
If you are not planning to rare many birds, you don’t necessarily need a broad knowledge of livestock to start a poultry, even the less educated people make a living from it.
In a population of 180 million people and still counting, there is surely a high demand for poultry products ranging from poultry meats to freshly laid eggs.
How to set up a Poultry in Nigeria?

In this section, I will be paying most attention to people who want to start a poultry for commercial purposes. If you are thinking of starting a commercial poultry farm there are some necessary steps you have to follow, you will need to get your steps right from day one, just to avoid negative results at the end of everything. You have to go through the following steps listed below:

Choosing a suitable location for your farm

The most important step in starting up a poultry farm is selecting a suitable land. Getting a land anywhere is a tedious and expensive task.
For someone who plans to farm for a long time it is better to acquire a parcel of land because owners can chase you from rented lands anytime and it will surely have adverse effect on your total effort.
The area of land to be acquired depend on some factors like the number of birds you intend to raise and most importantly the type of rearing system you intend to use.
It is advisable to acquire land in rural areas that are little bit far from the city because Land and labour seems to be relatively cheap in such areas.
Ensure that you have a source of fresh and clean water supply close to your land of interest because you will need to a lot of water for feeding the birds and cleaning your animal house.
Choosing the appropriate farming system

For commercial purpose, there are about four commonly used rearing systems to effectively keep and manage your birds. Such types used in Nigeria are includes:

Deep liter
Half liter
Battery
Semi-fold
What type of breeds should I choose?

The type of breed you choose will have a great impact in your final output. There are a lot of breeds but for the purpose of this article, I will talk about the three most popular ones with high quality yield.

Layers: This type of birds are basically raised for commercial egg production. However they can also be used for meat production. There are some breeds of layers that can lay up as much as 300 eggs in a year. They are suitable for rearing in large and small quantities.
Broilers: Broilers are poultry breeds that is very suitable for commercial meat production. One disadvantage about this breed is that they consume a lot of food but their growth is rapid and ready for consumption within a short period of time.
Cockerels: The cockerels are also a very good for meat production, their advantage over the rest of other birds is that they easily adapt to the environment and they have high demand in the market.
After choosing the type of breed you want to rare, you will have to decide if you want to start rearing from Day-old-chick (DOC) or Point-of-Lay (POL) for layers only.
