Hello tensazangetsu20 , based on your experiences, do you know if old WAEC results(10 years+), can be used for undergraduate admissions and if it'll be acceptable at Chilean consulates?

Also, I'm seeing a reoccurring theme with quotas for foreigners, with mentions of wait-lists( universidad de Chile's website, under the undergraduate then special admissions tab, is the most detailed I've seen on the subject out of most Chilean university websites, but it's not clear on how easy or hard it is to get admitted).
Will choosing a less known/prestigious university make it more certain to be accepted?

I do have more questions, can I pm you? Thanks.

Undergraduate admissions in Chile is very tricky. You need to write the paes which is equivalent to jamb to get entrance to university and schooling in Chile is very expensive like very expensive and degrees in Chilean universities are very long. We are talking at least 5 years and paying huge fees alongside money for food and rent and upkeep. My hand no dey there. I can only advise a masters degree and before that you must have a skill that can enable you get job to sort yourself out. You have only 2 years.

Maybe you can help. There is a new pathway to residency after graduation if you have a job offer. Which jobs are in demand in Brazil please?

Zero idea. I don't live in Brazil.

Probably linked to the high rate of ladies who cater for children without the presence of fathers. I dread both - unplanned pregnancy and STDs. I rather stock up dotted/ribbed condoms than have unprotected sex.

I fear pregnancy more than STDs cause I want my child to be born in the US. I am very very intentional about making that happen. If it happens before I am ready, I will be pained badly.

I never really finished learning before my laptop got damaged and my only ever interview was truncated when light was taken in the middle of the interview. After then I was just managing small small wordpress gigs which has become few and far in-between.

Damn sorry bros. The life of an African black man is tough as nails.

Your reply and the quoted post are the reasons I emphasise that not everyone should leave Nigeria. One, moving to a foreign land only to be stranded because he does not have money for housing within a week! A man selling his hard-earned properties to support a struggling student, his wife, who has not found a student job in almost a year.

At these points, is it not better to shine teeth with Tinubu and have peace of mind? If I talk, dem go say I dey abroad. Yes, but my situation is different: I had money to offset hostel fees for six months. In fact, the school requested I with-hold payment for two months as that is the standard for international students. So technically, I stayed in the hostel for free in two months. Also, I was well prepared financially regarding tuition fees and all. Leaving your country to a foreign land (not a state in a different geopolitical region) only to be stranded makes no sense to me. Selling your hard-earned properties to support one who has not found a job in almost a year has no economic bearing.

Slug it out with Tinubu.

I paid a year rent from Nigeria. How can you move to a foreign country and be homeless in a week? The journey is long.

It's Chiles independence day on the 18th and 19th and you can't help but admire the patriotism Chileans have. There's Chilean flags everywhere. Houses, parks, buses, cars everywhere and everyone is dressed in the traditional Chilean attire. It's so beautiful to see.

It's an open space, so can't say too much...but I was hoping for the Chilean passport for my child, that's my main concern. If there's enough time for me to get one as well, still good. But I won't be actively working towards that anymore, for myself.

It's so nice to hear from you after all this time☺️ how're you and life?
Thank you for that important addition; a lot of us don't understand that no matter what is written, even on government websites, ultimately it's up to them in that office in that country. It could be that the officer attending to you just didn't wake up on the right side of the bed that morning🤣

Plus...this contribution has actually helped me make up my mind even - I was so torn between Chile and Brazil. Obrigada 👍 (I don dey learn sef😁)

Giving birth in Chile only covers the child provided the parents have residency. Even having a Chilean child or spouse doesn't guarantee permanent residency. That economic stability is the most important key in getting permanent residency. A high paying job or a highly profitable business in Chile. The government doesn't care but that's it. There are people with Chilean wives or husbands who can't get permanent residency because they don't have a good job so they need to renew their residency every 2 years. Once you can acquire permanent residency, citizenship is straightforward

Blacks, especially black Africans, are the poorest of all races. Now, imagine a black African outside of Africa who is a broke ass? That'd a terrible combination.

But then, women are hypergamous everywhere and even for their native men. In some countries, they impose higher requirements for foreign men especially black men. So, it's normal. The life of a man is very hard as he must show evidence. There is a huge difference between being on a student visa vs a work visa as a black man in the abroad.

In Chile it's considered a very bad omen for a man above 20 to not have a job. Even students have something to do and are never idle. I am speaking of undergraduate students o.

Talking about foreigners liking Black men, still depends on how successful you are. Foreigners don’t like broke ass men, including blacks. It’s even worse for blacks.

I have seen Asians liking Nigerian men but it’s definitely those that are comfortable. They don’t mind spending on you if you’re okay already but they won’t near you if you’re broke.

It's every nationality. I have a Chilean friend that told her american boyfriend that if he doesn't get a good job, she's not going to marry him. Women want stability at the end of the day.

Men honestly you really have to admire chilean men. They joke and they play so much but these people have really built a prosperous country for themselves. Sometimes I wonder if its because of the predominant European DNA that chileans have. Chileans, Argentines, The south of Brazil and Uruguay had a lot of european migration and these places are the most developed in south america. Chileans look very european like and can be easily distinguished from other latinos like peruvians, colombians and venezuelans.

Honestly, I am so lucky to have come to this country. Thank God I boned everybody that discouraged me from coming. This country is helping me achieve all my dreams both the positive dreams and the negative ones grin grin grin
