Why do banks charge such high interest rates for such short periods (most commercial loans in Nigeria are usually less than 9 months)is because people like you will not leave your money in Nigeria banks for 5 years and above for interest of 5% per year, so the banks can lend. Banks cannot afford to borrow short and lend long.
