filcast: yes u are right, they are for the heater-i didn't know earlier. Well, right now the gasket has been changed, the two lines blocked but some water lines are still dripping water and the temp is still at 'danger' range.
I want them to seal off all water leakages first and then take it from there.
Pls can u advise me on the proper use of radiator coolant. I ve not been using it but just bought one from Total here in onitsha.
Guys help me o,am stranded here in onitsha!

Forget about adding coolant to the cooling system right now. It's not the water that is causing the overheating, but air pocket and loss of fluid because the system is not sealed and have not been bleeded, probably.

You cant just seal off all the cooling system lines/hoses. The fluid circulates in the engine via those lines. It will make more sense to replace the leaking lines or fix the leaking spots than block them all.

Stop the leak and bleed the system. Even if you fix the leak without bleeding the system, the overheating won't stop.

You really need a Peugeot mechanic to handle that car.

@ Filcast. True talk here, if you come out of this ... and I know you will, one lesson you will do well to take to heart is to be choosy about who you let open your bonnet. Always insist on a Peugeot mech who knows his 'onions'. Just follow all you ve been told and you will be home and dry...

Thanks a lot ikenna. This morning they brought an 'expert' to reset the timing belt and the system has picked since then.they also replaced some of the lines and bled the system. The overheating have stopped but the engine is still not firing like it used to.Anyway,I plan to hit the road tommorow. I have learnt my lesson-when I get to lagos I will visit a good peugeot workshop for a thorogh diagnostics.

For 406, 407, 607,etc.

Please, before you start any of modern Peugeot cars, especially the D9, switch on the ignition and wait for the fuel gauge needle to jump up in the instrument panel before you crank the engine. The system use those seconds to build fuel pressure on the fuel rail. It's very important we do this, especially in first start in the morning or after the engine has sat for more than 1 hour off.

@Ikenna & Wisesystem,
I wish to thank you guys for your support all through my travails. Goodnews is I made it to lagos 12.30pm yesterday without much difficulties. The only issue I had was with hilly terrains where the car seemed to struggle.
Please can you guys help with good Peugeot workshops in Lagos? I want to have them diagnose and perform an overall maintenance on the car because a lot of improvisation were carried out in the course of finding solution to the problem.
Regards.

Congratulations and thanks to Jah for his mercies. Unfortunately I dont stay in lagos and cant help you with such info. But am sure house members would help you get one and when you get there, the number of exotic lions lining up in his garage would tell you you are in the right place + He would definitely own a PP2000.
Best wishes Man!

Good day guys, I own a 2000 Peugeot 406 coupe SW1 2litre engine I bought close to 2 years now. I love the car because it never disappoints on the highway, though I've somewhat reckless with the bumpers..... Last week, my brother-in-law misplaced the only key with separate remote inside a public transport. All efforts to find it has been impossible.I don't have the security code to program a new key, neither does the previous owner. I would like to get help from this wonderful forum please. Ikenna and co pls advice me. .....By the way an electrician had tried starting the car with wires but it refused to start.

You said the electrician tried starting it with what? Ha! I hope he hasn't fried your BSI unit.

Contact me offline and I will tell you how to get the access code and a new key.

Your ECU was stolen? Seriously? By the way, what model? D8 or D9?

No wonder. That's the disadvantage of using a Non BSI Peugeot. Because an injection ECU coded to work with a BSI is useless outside that vehicle. So need of stealing it in the first place.

Unfortunately, I don't know any good Peugeot specialist in Lagos. You know Lagos don't drive Peugeot that much.

BSI: Built-In System Interface.

It's a module that controls every electronics or electrical and all ECUs in modern Lions. If a Lions BSI dies, nothing will work in the car.
