I forgot to add, if you have replaced the tyres with out of spec tyre size(s), it could trigger the "tyre pressure low" warning too.

Peugeot 5008 is now on sale in Abuja. Was surprised to see it in one of the brand new Peugeot dealers here in Abuja. In Wuse, to be precised.

Hi Ikenna, how was service today, i guess it was splendid.

please my 406 is having some issues, i got to church today and den tried to lock my car, only to realize that my central lock system had stopped working, i had to manually lock all d doors. twas quite annoying. could it be that the fuse controlling it got blown or sumfin?

secondly, i bought it from someone in lagos and it came with 16 rim tryes, its looks fyn and all but the rims have been disturbing me, in the sense that the tyres are wider than the usual 15 rim tyres meant for the car. hence some sort of packing needed to be put on the hub to prevent the tyre from touching the front shocks, which in turn needed a longer bolt than necessary to b able to get to the hub. now those bolts are not readily available in makurdi where i live. Besides, i noticed that the bolts have only succeeded in damaging my hubs as i had to replace the passenger front and back leg recently. luckily for me the spare tyre that came with the care is a 15 rim tyre and dats wat ive been using after replacing the the front hub that got damaged, wat do u advice i do sir, should i just step down to 15 rim tyres or is there a way around it.

Thirdly, please sir where can i get the hardware/cable connector that connects a computer to a peugeot car allowing one to diagnose the car using pp2000?

As for key remote , is 2 buttons or 1 button? If its 2 button key remote, try the below:

http://peugeotarena.com/how-to-programreprogram-406-key-remote-with-2-buttons-2001-2004-models/

But if its1 button key remote, let me know so that i will direct you on how to reprogram the key.

As for your 16" Alloy wheels issue, what phase is your 406? Phase I or II? At least, all most all D9 with EW12 and V6 had "16 Alloy wheels from factory. Mine have on it 205/55 R16. So, i want to believe the Aftermarket 16" Alloy wheels on your Lion is not compatible with the hub, not that Peugeot didn't design 406 hub to be mounted 16" wheel. Since you have 16 size tyres, i would suggest you look for used Peugeot 16"Alloy wheels and lug nuts of D9. It will be available in Peugeot used parts shops.

As for the Diagbox interface (cable) question. Sorry, it's not sold separately. It's sold as a box with other stuffs, hence, the diagbox (Diagnostic Box). Find it below:

My remote dosnt work oo, hasnt worked since i got the car. the button on the remote is not there. was told that because my car dosnt have a BSI, nothing can be done to make the remote functional again. please is this true?

i have had to lock the car using the key all dis time, but today the central lock just refused to work.

My tyre type is 205/55 R16 just like yours, and the car is a 406 d8 with an XU10 engine.

Sorry, i forgot you said central lock, not remote issue.

Check under the steering wheel for blown fuse. For D9, fuse A powers the central lock.

Check the fuse 13 in the BSM (the fuse box in the engine bay, behind the battery box). If the fuse contacts are corroded, clean and slot back in.

Also, Check the ground connections on the horns. Clean them, including the connectors. You may have to bring out the horns and test them on the battery directly.

Go back to the fuel tank and check the fuel sender/sending unit. Find out if it was installed properly or connected well.

Ikenna am interested in this tip. My horn works but there s a considerably decrease in the intensity. Was thinking one the horns is gone bad, that's with the assumption that 406 has 2 horns and maybe one got bad. would now settle down and check for corrosion and also check the fuse as you have advised. Am told an original horn costs 3000k. Do have a nice day Man. May I also commend you for the maturity you showed recently on this thread, under great provocation. Its a quality u ll sure always need...

Hmm! I would suggest you be careful with your hitting the steering wheel, because you do not want the airbag inside it to deploy and smash your face. Remember, airbag ECU can be very sensitive. This is no 504 or 505 that you can knock big hammer on and they smile back at you.

Probably the horn switch on the steering wheel need to be checked and cleaned, including the connectors. Do you know how to remove the steering wheel? Its illustrated in the repair manual that has been posted here. But if you can't remove, take it to a Peugeot auto electrician to remove it for you, so that you do the cleaning.

But then, it has 2 horn switches on that steering wheel, i think. So both can't fail at the same time. I would suspect the connector.

Are you sure the grounds/connectors on the horns were well cleaned?

About 2 months ago, around my office, i was coming from behind a 406 with his bonnet open and the engine running/idling. I got to the front of the car and saw 2 men facing the engine bay. I looked and it was EW series (EW10 or EW7). Something caught my attention which made me stopped. There was no battery in the engine bay, yet the engine was running. On the ground, i saw 2 batteries. One of them lifted up the battery and started to mount it in the battery box, to reconnecf the battery terminals while engine was running. I couldn't kept quiet. So i told him "Please, thats a bad practice and a call for serious damage to any modern Peugeot car". They both looked at me and the one reconnecting the battery now asked me, "Who fed you those lies?". He went on narrating how theg were taught while in training by PAN not to leave the battery connected while working in any Peugeot, especially the electricals. But that he never applied all that because he has been doing the opposite for many years in peugeot cars and nothing has ever happened. He went on and on, but i couldn't stay there listening to him, so i just shaked my head and left. The 2nd guy kept mute all those while the other guy was proving his better knowledge on Peugeot to me. He could be the owner of the car. But i didn't bother to ask, since he was ok with the abuse or destruction going on in the car. A simple spark from battery terminals when engine is off but terminals wrongly removed, can do some damages. Not to think of a running engine that will produce all sorts of sparks on the battery terminals while reconnecting the terminals, considering the Alternator is at work.

@ guysmilee134,

The deed has been happened. Yes, like you suspected, your BSI could have been damaged or corrupted during the wrong battery terminals disconnection. And if that is the case, your BSI may not even communicate with scan tool, not to think of engine ECU. I know what it feels like to drive into a workshop for a minor issue to be fixed, only for you to be forced to take back his car by towing it out.

Notwithstanding, i would suggest checking the whole fuses: the fuses on BSM, fuse box under the steering wheel and fuses on BSM unit. I want to believe you guys must have checked all the fuses. But have you checked the fuses and relays on the BSI unit? I think the BSI unit has 2 relays on it, including fuse scattered on it. I would check all of them as well.

Not that if the BSI is damaged, you will need to buy Engine Control Unit and key transponder from the same 406 BSi you will buy. The 3 components are coded together. None will work without the other.

Please, do not trust your Lion to any mechanic or auto electrician, no matter how good they seem. It has to be a peugeot specialist. A good Toyota specialist would do the same thing that clown did on your electrics, because he wouldn't know the do's and don'ts in a Peugeot. The way Japs electrics are handled is not the same with Peugeot. So be careful who you open your bonnet for or leave your Lion for, with hope that he knows what he is doing. Those complex Peugeot electrics are their to protect your lions and worry less about losing your car to thieves. And to be enjoying that, don't let any clown disconnect your battery. DO that yourself with the procedure.

IK,

Please help me out with thus VIN's

VF36DRFNE5L005415
VF36DRFNE5L004610
VF36DRFNE5L005233

They are 407's and i would like to know if they are EW10 (which you say are easier to maintain)

Also how can i tell which automatic transmission is better?
Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by guysmilee134: 10:02pm On Nov 29, 2013
thanks Ikenna for the response. infact he checked the BSM but all to no avail. i dont think he checked the BSI relays or rather i didnt notice him do it! so worst case scenerio if im to think of replacing the BSI unit how much would all the components cost? and is it available in the dealerships? we scanned the lion and the BSi didnt communicate, a host of other ecus' also didnt communicate.
